Chapter 21: Harin’s Live Stream

Harin.

Actually, it’s a name I’ve never heard before.

I don’t really know much about streamers, so I can’t help it.

I thought to myself that I should study more about streamers when I have time in the future and searched for “Harin” on the internet.

[Harin was born in Spain.]

“Eh?”

I thought it would be a Korean birth name, so that was a prejudice.

I was a bit surprised and read through the information about Harin that was organized on the internet.

Then I found out something.

‘This person is a bit risqué too.’

Compared to Mangming, it wasn’t that risqué, but among others, it fell into the higher category.

It had a slightly spicy flavor that you could enjoy.

I didn’t know for sure since I hadn’t watched the broadcast directly, but based on what I found online, that was the impression I got.

‘I’ll have to look into it properly later.’

Even though I felt that just looking it up now was enough, it was really pathetic to judge based on just fragmented parts.

At least it was right for me to see it with my own eyes and judge.

Thinking that, I quickly moved.

After finishing my part-time job and returning home, I found Lee Yeram already shutting down the computer and focusing on her studies at her desk.

With the college entrance exam coming up soon, it seemed she was working hard.

Thinking about how diligent she was, I spoke up.

“I brought tteokbokki, let’s eat together.”

“Oh.”

Lee Yeram immediately responded.

You have to eat when there’s food.

Creak.

I unfolded a makeshift table set up in a corner and completed the setup.

On the table were the tteokbokki and sundae I just bought, giving off a delicious smell.

“I was just hungry, and you brought this right on time.”

“I thought it looked good when I was coming back from my part-time job.”

“Sweet.”

Yeram seemed really hungry as she quickly started devouring the tteokbokki and sundae.

Well, they might have chosen a different path.

“Anyway, the reason I recommended that person is simple.

They have a lot of viewers, and while they can be rough around the edges when they speak, they’re not a bad person.”

“Mangming isn’t a bad person either.”

“The person isn’t bad, but their fandom is.

In the streaming world, if the fandom is problematic, the perception of that person also worsens.”

“That’s true.”

It sounded like a valid point.

No matter how well the streamer behaves, if the fandom does something strange, it’s natural for their reputation to decline.

‘It can’t be helped.’

That’s how it is in a profession that thrives on public attention.

That’s why I’m reluctant to expose my identity.

And considering how special this world is, it was risky.

Already, people often cause chaos in the chat just because I’m a ‘male,’ so revealing my face here could lead to more problems.

Thinking about that, I finished off the remaining food and started on my tasks.

“Then I’ll ask you to clean up afterward.

I’ll be watching that person’s broadcast.”

“Okay.”

Since I bought the food, it was only right for the one who benefited to handle the cleanup.

I planned to keep that thought for decades to come.

After saying that, I sat down in front of the computer and opened Twitch.

Vroom—.

With a simple sound, Twitch powered up, and many people currently streaming came into view.

The streamer I often watched was down below.

They weren’t that popular, after all.

‘When will this person become famous?’

Limaldo.

They were a streamer I watched frequently.

They didn’t mix with others and had never been involved with other streamers.

It was truly fitting to say they were like a deserted island.

They didn’t stream often either.

I sometimes wondered seriously about what they were doing.

They didn’t seem to be doing anything else either, yet they didn’t stream diligently.

Come to think of it, there was something I had never understood.

I didn’t get why streamers wouldn’t stream, but I also didn’t understand why singers wouldn’t release albums.

Especially, there was a singer I often listened to who had green hair and hadn’t released an album in eight years.

Even now, thinking about it, I found them incredibly frustrating.

While having such random thoughts, I clicked on Harin’s stream.

[Number of viewers: 5,302]

That was an incredibly high number of viewers.

Thinking back to my own view count from before…

I couldn’t gauge how much success a broadcast would need to achieve that level of viewers.

I’d probably need to consistently work hard for a few years.

‘That sounds annoying.’

It seemed better to be satisfied with the current situation.

If I fell into the thought of needing to increase my viewers, the broadcast would likely become less fun.

If the broadcast became enjoyable, the viewers would naturally follow.

After all, it was a broadcast I started as a hobby.

Thinking this way, I watched the stream.

  • “Shut up, this is it.”

[“No way;;”]

[“This could be controversial.”]

[“What are you telling a guy to shut up for..? What are you telling a guy to shut up for..? What are you telling a guy to shut up for…? What are you telling a guy to shut up for..?”]

[“Seeing this, it looks like they’ll collaborate with Mangming soon ᄏᄏ”]

[“The chat is crossing the line, what do you mean a collab with Mangming ᄉᄇ”]

[“If Harin doesn’t want his stream to go down the drain, he won’t collab with Mangming even if he dies.”]

[“But why suddenly telling someone to shut up?”]

  • “No, the jungler is telling me to leash.

He can just jungle on his own.”

Harin’s words were aggressive, but they seemed to make sense.

Back when I played normal games, the jungler often asked the ADC (Attack Damage Carry) and support to hit the jungle mobs.

It was common to ask for what’s known as a ‘leash.’

At that time, I did it because I didn’t know any better, but… thinking back now, I realize I was the selfish one.

How could I use my teammates like that?

I found myself typing in the chat.

[“I want to merge with Rammus’s spines:ᄅ이]

[“I want to merge with Rammus’s spines: I can’t believe junglers keep asking for jungle mobs to be hit.”]

[“I want to merge with Rammus’s spines: I did it back then without knowing..”]

As I became immersed in watching Harin’s stream, an hour had already passed.

‘Time really flies.’

There was definitely a reason why broadcasts with a lot of viewers were successful.

At first, I was thinking why I was watching this, but as I kept watching, the time melted away.

And this was live, not an edited version.

I thought this was also a talent and typed another message in the chat.

[“I want to merge with Rammus’s spines: This broadcast is fun.”]

[“I want to merge with Rammus’s spines: I enjoyed it, thanks for the stream.”]

Isn’t it said that beautiful people leave behind beautiful places, like the phrases stuck on bathroom doors?

You could say they are actually embodying that.

After typing that in the chat, I exited the stream and immediately started preparing to go live.

Now, it wasn’t that difficult anymore.

Although I didn’t have much experience, I felt like I had gained a bit of familiarity.

Thinking this way, I set everything up and clicked the button.

Click.

After pressing the button, a moment later,

[“The broadcast has started!”]

With the message that the broadcast had started, the streaming screen turned on.

At first, this screen felt really awkward, but now I had adapted to it.

As long as too many viewers didn’t come in, I could continue to stream comfortably.

“Yawn.”

At that moment, while I was yawning,

[“Finally started the broadcast, finally started the broadcast, finally started the broadcast, finally started the broadcast, finally started the broadcast, finally started the broadcast.”]

[“What was Harin doing on the stream?”]

[Omniscient Cthulhu: Haha]

[Omniscient Cthulhu: What the hell]

[Omniscient Cthulhu: There were people who came before me]

[Hwanhee:]

[Kang Hoomin: Haha]

Three regular viewers who always visit the stream have arrived, along with some other viewers who don’t chat much.

By the way, it seems like some viewers from Mangming’s stream have come over.

In the past, seeing around twenty viewers was a lot, but now about fifty were watching.

“I’m glad to see everyone, but… how did you know I was on Harin’s stream?”

That was what I was most curious about.

I hadn’t even hinted at it.

Could it be some kind of mind-reading?

While I was thinking about it and looking at the chat, I saw:

[“Aren’t you the one?”]

[“You keep chatting with that nickname.”]

[“How could we not know? haha”]

[“It’s not even a normal nickname; wanting to merge with Rammus’s spines is lmao”]

[Omniscient Cthulhu: It is a bit vulgar..]

Ah, right.

I need to change my nickname.
