[I’ve really been underestimated.]
After listening to the report from the Shadow Guard, Ryan’s face darkened.
Even among family, there are those who can’t stand seeing you succeed, and even wish you were dead.
A stranger, just a maid, actually says she only wants him to be well, and that nothing else matters.
This isn’t just thinking Ryan is easily deceived, it’s treating him like an idiot.
“Your Highness, should we take any action?” The Shadow Guard asked cautiously.
Normally, Ryan would blame the Shadow Guard for being nosy, but in this case… his expression gradually returned to normal.
“Send Charlton to me.”
“As you command!” The Shadow Guard’s forehead was beaded with sweat.
This is also the main reason why Ryan has always been so composed, never letting his emotions show.
Rather than flying into a rage at the slightest provocation, controlling one’s emotions freely, and always maintaining a poker face that makes it impossible for people to see what you’re thinking, is more likely to inspire genuine awe.
Remembering the oppressive feeling from that old geezer that was deeply engraved in his heart…
Ryan firmly believed that only terror and intimidation could rule the world, could drive tens of thousands of people.
Therefore, he decided not to waste any more time and to resolve that annoying, eyesore of a woman who went against his life principles as soon as possible.
“Your Highness, what are your orders?”
Soon, the old butler arrived.
“Have Flora Haggia come to my room tonight.”
Doesn’t she want to get close to me?
Then let her wish come true.
Ryan sneered inwardly.
“Your Highness, is that appropriate?” The old butler couldn’t help but say.
“It’s alright, I know what I’m doing… just consider it a test.”
Ryan thought for a moment and said, “But don’t warn her.”
The old butler didn’t accept the order as he usually did.
“If you truly trust her, then you should have faith in her.”
Ryan added.
The old butler was the only person he could still trust, and he didn’t want him to feel disheartened.
But he didn’t think for a second that the woman could pass this test.
“No, I’m worried about Your Highness.” The old butler mustered his courage and said.
Ryan was stunned.
His first reaction was that the old butler was worried about his safety.
But aside from others, the old butler knew how many defensive magic arrays he had set up in his bedroom, and what kind of magical items he possessed.
Trying to poison or assassinate him there was simply wishful thinking.
Even if those magic arrays and items failed, as a Magic Knight, Ryan’s strength was top-notch.
The only person in the entire empire who could silently kill him… was probably only that one person.
But that person couldn’t be here.
After ruling out that possibility, Ryan suddenly understood and couldn’t help but smile in surprise.
“You think I’ve misjudged?”
The old butler was actually worried that he had mistaken a good person.
To be honest, Ryan hadn’t considered that.
Because he couldn’t be wrong.
“Go, there’s no need to worry.”
Ryan said confidently.
“As you command.”
The old butler sighed heavily and stopped objecting.
That night, a knock came from Ryan’s bedroom.
“You’ve finally come.”
Ryan opened the door and said enthusiastically.
“Good evening, Your Highness Ryan!”
The blonde girl continued to act energetic… no, she probably wasn’t acting.
She knew that she was about to be “favored”, so she was overjoyed.
“Come in, don’t stand on ceremony.”
Ryan diligently welcomed the blonde girl in.
He seemed just like the lecherous man in the rumors… which was of course what Ryan was pretending to be.
He just wanted the blonde girl to reveal her true purpose as soon as possible, and then expel her from the mansion.
“Your Highness Ryan, thank you for being willing to forgive me.”
After closing the door, the blonde girl said gratefully.
“I’ve never been dissatisfied with you, so what is there to forgive?”
Ugh, I’m going to throw up.
Ryan was speaking in the tone of someone he remembered as being quite smooth-tongued, but he soon became disgusted with himself.
But there was no other way.
Normally, as soon as he revealed his killing intent and frowned, all those mediocre women would run away.
Only this blonde girl was so troublesome and annoying that he had to resort to such a low tactic.
(Let’s end this quickly.)
Before the blonde girl could answer, Ryan reached out and lifted her chin.
Honestly, this was the first time Ryan had seriously observed the blonde girl’s appearance.
Silky smooth blonde hair, clear azure eyes, a face that was far more delicate than that of an average noble young lady… both beautiful and cute, and catered to his tastes.
No wonder she dared to seduce him.
“Your Highness, is there something on my face?”
The blonde girl asked blankly, her beautiful azure eyes blinking.
Heh, still pretending to be innocent.
Ryan sneered inwardly, but on the surface, he showed a greedy expression, scrutinized the blonde girl from top to bottom, and said:
“Become my woman.”
The blonde girl was stunned.
After a long while, she suddenly realized what he meant, and abruptly jumped back, pulling away, her face full of agitation.
“Y-Your Highness Ryan, what are you saying? Please don’t joke around!”
“I’m not joking. You’ve been scheming to get close to me, isn’t it all to gain my favor and become my woman?”
Ryan tried to give a charming smile, “It’s possible, if it’s you.”
“No, no, no, Your Highness Ryan, you’ve misunderstood, I absolutely don’t mean that!”
The blonde girl waved her hands and shook her head in a panic.
(This is so troublesome.)
Ryan no longer wanted to play along with the blonde girl.
He snapped his fingers.
A knightly phantom wearing heavy armor and holding a giant shield appeared out of thin air beside them.
“G-Guardian Spirit?”
The blonde girl looked surprised and hurriedly explained, “Your Highness Ryan, I’m really not lying, p-please don’t be angry!”
“Answer three questions.” Ryan completely lost his patience.
“If you dare to deceive me, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
“Ugh.”
The blonde girl nodded frantically in fear.
But Ryan couldn’t possibly believe this feigned fear.
That’s why he summoned the Guardian Spirit.
“First question, did you come here to assassinate me?”
“Of course not, how could I ever do such a thing to Your Highness!” The blonde girl said quickly.
Ryan looked at the knightly phantom, and a green light shone from the gaps in the knight’s heavy helmet.
“Second question, are you a spy here to steal information?”
Ryan asked expressionlessly.
“No, I wouldn’t do such a thing!”
The blonde girl quickly shook her head.
The green light shone again.
Ryan wasn’t too surprised.
The old butler had at least that much ability to judge people.
The blonde girl’s life could be considered saved.
What remained was the final question that would determine whether she stayed or left… no.
“Third question, do you… want to become my lover?”
She was definitely going to leave.
There wouldn’t be any surprises—
“Reporting to Your Highness, that’s not the case… I never thought about becoming a lover or anything like that!”
The blonde girl said aggrievedly.
