Descent of the Abyss

Just as Sui Ming slapped away the golden beam, an unknown force suddenly descended into the space.

The black figure’s expression darkened.

A faint violet mist emanated from his hand, and a scythe identical to the previous one manifested in his grip.

He stared seriously at the rapidly forming figure across from him.

“Ming! Get him out of here—now!” the golden silhouette shouted.

The black one fiddled with the scythe, then muttered with a troubled tone:

“The memory space’s been sealed off.”

“Damn it.”

The golden figure slowly pulled the scythe from his chest,

Then calmly wiped the blood from his face, as though nothing had happened.

The surrounding void began to melt like oil paint,

A corrosive aura sweeping in and occupying the entire space in an instant.

It was as if the hand of a god had reached in to methodically rewrite everything.

A divine requiem of catastrophe began to play, majestic and mournful.

The seeds of doomsday tolled slowly,

And something beyond comprehension turned its gaze toward them.

Where there should have been nothing, life suddenly sprouted.

Chaos.

Madness.

Discord.

A kaleidoscopic insanity flooded the memory realm.

Sui Ming clutched his head, a stabbing pain erupting from within.

“His mind won’t hold much longer.”

“Force the connection shut—

His awakening will have to wait.”

As he spoke, the golden silhouette waved his hand,

Tearing open a rift and pushing the reeling Sui Ming into it.

Yet in that exact instant—when neither of them noticed—

A brilliant, prismatic aurora tore through their layered defenses

And surged toward the rift.

“…Shit.”

The golden figure’s face shifted,

He poured all his strength into blocking the aurora.

But even as the fabric of space warped and trembled,

The light broke through effortlessly—

Piercing into the rift.

“Whether that’s good or bad…

We’ll have to see.”

“He’s awake!

Bai Ling shook Sui Ming’s body, voice shrill with excitement and worry.

“No…

It shouldn’t be that fast…”

The crow muttered, eyes narrowing.

Sui Ming opened his eyes—

But what stared back was not clarity.

Chaos.

Unfathomable colors twisted in his pupils.

His expression contorted with madness.

He slowly rose to his feet.

The crow flapped her wing sharply—

The house faded into pitch-black void,

Devoured by the deafening hymn of calamity and a curtain of endless black.

“…What is that thing?”

Beads of sweat trickled down Bai Ling’s forehead,

Vanishing into the abyssal dark.

“That’s the [Abyss].

Didn’t your elders ever tell you?”

“Nope.

The crow had absolutely no sympathy.

“The Abyss is the common enemy of all life.

When it appears—

You destroy it, no matter the cost.”

“As for his current state…

He’s probably been corrupted.”

A golden flash exploded like divine thunder,

Shaking the entire space.

Madness distorted Sui Ming’s features,

And the dagger in his hand radiated an almost blinding light.

“We’ve got to survive till then!!”

A storm of magical force surged forward like a thousand-night tide,

So intense even Bai Ling’s monster-like physique couldn’t withstand it.

“Don’t resist it directly!

That’s Abyssal corruption—

You’ll get infected!”

As she spoke, the crow raised a wing.

A soft violet barrier shimmered over Bai Ling’s body,

A thin membrane separating her from the miasma.

No wonder she was a Silver Dragon.

Bai Ling only glanced at it—

And instantly understood how it worked.

A white version of the same barrier bloomed across her skin.

But clearly, they wouldn’t be given time to prepare.

A golden bolt of lightning screamed toward her.

The space around them fractured subtly,

The strike wrapped in a killing intent that made the air itself shrink.

Bai Ling’s eyes sharpened.

Her right hand glowed pale green.

Way weaker than the real Sui Ming!”

With a shout, she dodged at the last instant,

The golden dagger flashing past her shoulder.

She ducked low,

And with the power of a hurricane behind her strike,

Her palm slammed into Sui Ming’s chest—

Launching him like a popped balloon across the room.

Without Sui Ming’s own techniques,

No match for Bai Ling, who was Tier 5—

And a dragon, no less.

But the requiem didn’t stop.

It only grew stronger.

The surrounding void began disintegrating at an accelerating rate.

Into the void.

The crow warned.

The mad hymn blared again.

Dozens of colorful shadows bloomed behind Sui Ming,

Each twisted and snarling.

Bai Ling exclaimed,

Dodging at the last possible second.

Even so, a golden streak slashed her arm,

Leaving a thin trail of blood.

But Bai Ling wasn’t one to go down easily.

As the streak surged forward,

She reacted instantly.

A massive silver dragon projection erupted behind her.

Elemental particles of every kind swirled around her,

And at her command—

They surged forward like chains,

Snapping toward the deranged figure.

“Holy crap…

That bloodline is ridiculous,”

The crow muttered in awe.

She’d thought this Silver Dragon girl was maybe some noble-born…

But now?

If someone said she was royalty, she’d believe it.

That lunch—

The one worth about 70,000 Fal that got her those dragon materials?

Absolute profit.

As the battle intensified on the other end of the room,
