The Myriad Realms Transfer Station: Flesh Realm Encounter

Chapter 221,500 words13 min read

The disorienting disparity between what his eyes perceived and what his brain registered left Huang Xiu feeling dizzy and unsteady on his feet.

Instinctively, he took a step back, only to bump squarely into Yun Ning with a soft thud.

“I’m so sorry!” Huang Xiu shook his head, his face flushed with embarrassment as he moved away from Yun Ning.

“It’s nothing, Huang Xiu.”

Yun Ning waved a dismissive hand, his attention not on Huang Xiu but fixed intensely on the card in Professor Yuan’s grasp, his dark eyes unwavering.

“Haha, don’t stare too long, Huang Xiu; you won’t be able to handle it just yet,” Professor Yuan chuckled.

“This elevator card in my hand is a product of the Void Realm—the Myriad Realms Transfer Station—and the sole conduit to reach it.”

‘A conduit? Just that card?’

Leaning against the railings on either side of the elevator car, Huang Xiu watched with curiosity as Professor Yuan swiped the elevator card over the sensor.

Following a soft beep, Professor Yuan swiftly pressed all the odd-numbered floor buttons: 1, 3, 5…

“As long as you press all the odd-numbered floor buttons within five seconds of swiping the elevator card, you can…”

Both young men watched Professor Yuan’s actions with rapt attention.

Huang Xiu finished Professor Yuan’s sentence, “then we can go to that Void Realm called the Myriad Realms Transfer Station?”

“Exactly!”

Professor Yuan laughed heartily and pressed the door-close button.

As the elevator began its slow ascent, the white light on the ceiling of the car started to flicker.

The distinct crackle of electrical currents filled the air.

“Do not step out. Remember, no matter who is outside or who calls to you, do not leave,” Professor Yuan instructed, then reached out, drawing Huang Xiu and Yun Ning behind him protectively.

As he spoke, a soft female voice emanated from the elevator’s speakers.

“Ding, arriving at the first floor…”

With a whoosh, the elevator doors seemed to be pulled open from both sides, sliding apart with a shaky hesitation before finally jamming, leaving an inverted triangular gap.

Peering intently through the narrow gap in the elevator doors, they saw an endless corridor stretching before them.

Above the corridor, countless white glass pendant lamps were arranged at regular intervals.

Huang Xiu gazed at the infinitely extending corridor.

If his memory served him correctly, the first floor should have housed the administrative hall of the Special Jurisdiction Bureau.

A very pretty young woman usually worked as the receptionist there.

“This…” He turned his head to Professor Yuan.

“We’ve now entered the Void Realm, but we haven’t reached the Myriad Realms Transfer Station yet.”

Professor Yuan stared out of the elevator, then reached out and pressed the door-close button again.

With a grating symphony of mechanical parts, the elevator doors slowly shut once more.

“As the elevator ascends, each odd-numbered floor corresponds to an unknown Void Realm; this is why this particular Void Realm is named the Myriad Realms Transfer Station.”

Professor Yuan warned, “If you step out of the elevator and don’t return in time, you will be utterly lost within the Void Realm.”

“We understand,” both young men nodded in unison.

The elevator’s chime had changed at some point, now replaced by a sudden, genderless mechanical voice.

“Ding, arriving at the third floor.”

A wave of pixelation washed over the display screen on the right side of the elevator.

“Is this normal?”

Huang Xiu swallowed hard, pointing at the screen where the pixels had twisted into a colossal character for ‘Death’.

“No, it’s not normal. This is the first time I’ve ever seen something like this.”

Professor Yuan’s expression instantly turned grave, for in the Void Realm, unknown changes almost always signified danger.

“However, rest assured, as long as we don’t step out, the Void Realm’s rules for the Myriad Realms Transfer Station will protect us.”

He paused, then added, “The Myriad Realms Transfer Station corresponds to a depth of 100; very few Void Realms are deeper than it.”

Though intensely curious about what ‘depth’ entailed, Huang Xiu recognized that this was hardly the opportune moment to ask.

He fixated on the slowly opening elevator doors, his heart pounding like a war drum.

“Don’t be afraid, Huang Xiu!” Suddenly, Yun Ning’s hand gently rested on his shoulder from behind.

Huang Xiu turned to see the young man looking at him with earnest determination. “Both the teacher and I will protect you.”

“That’s right,” Professor Yuan said with an easy smile. “Don’t worry, since I brought you into the Void Realm, I’ll make sure to bring you back.”

To become a professor at Tiandu University, academic knowledge was not the sole requirement; exceptional strength was equally crucial.

And now, as the elevator doors parted, everything outside was revealed before the three of them.

It was a world constructed entirely of pink flesh.

The ground was a pink, fleshy wall, periodically rippling like waves in a spasm.

The scattered stones across the ground were hard, black tumors, their surfaces pulsing with red veins, breathing in and out.

Long, swaying tendrils of flesh were everywhere, topped with twitching lumps that resembled leaves and fruits.

“Are these trees?”

No sooner had he spoken than a sudden tremor stirred within Huang Xiu’s heart.

He vaguely sensed, in some profound way, an extremely powerful and malevolent presence rapidly approaching.

“Something bad is coming,” he quickly stated.

The words had barely left his lips when, in the very next second, the ground not far outside the elevator doors swelled dozens of meters high, transforming into a colossal cocoon of flesh.

With a series of squelching sounds, four limbs began to sprout from the towering, dozens-of-meters-high fleshy cocoon.

“Can it close?” Professor Yuan asked without turning his head.

Yun Ning had been frantically pressing the door-close button, but the elevator remained unresponsive. “Teacher, it won’t close!”

In the distance, a head-shaped bulge of flesh slowly emerged from the multi-limbed, fleshy cocoon.

“It seems this thing doesn’t want us to leave,” Professor Yuan’s gaze turned cold.

‘To be able to interfere with the rules of the Myriad Realms Transfer Station…’

‘If that monstrous entity were to complete its transformation, who knew what further turmoil it might conjure from thin air.’

‘Besides, he had no such patience!’

‘His two beloved students were still waiting behind him!’

He shed his suit jacket, tossing it over his shoulder. Huang Xiu, caught off guard, fumbled for a moment before managing to catch it.

“Hold this for me,” the middle-aged man said softly.

An inexplicable aura emanated from him, and ripple-like folds of energy began to swirl around his body.

Loosening his blue tie and unbuttoning his cuffs, he stepped out of the elevator with a steady stride.

Yuan Fei extended both hands forward, palms facing inward, while white waves seemed to surge and crash within his eyes.

The folds of energy swirling around him intensified, becoming even more pronounced.

Huang Xiu distinctly heard the air around him, distorted by the folds, emit a creaking sound, like plastic being crumpled.

“Mountain Fold—Bend!”

Yuan Fei chanted softly, and the instant his words faded, he clapped his palms together with a forceful snap.

*Crack!*

As if an earth dragon had suddenly awakened, the ground violently shuddered, affecting even Huang Xiu and Yun Ning inside the elevator.

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

In the very next second, the fleshy ground was subjected to an unstoppable, immense force.

Starting from Yuan Fei’s toes, the ground continuously cracked open, then folded inward like the pages of a closing book.

“Roar! Roar!”

The nascent, featureless head emerging from the fleshy cocoon let out a deafening roar of fury.

It spread its four arms, attempting to resist the collapsing ground from both sides.

*Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!*

Yet, the endlessly folding and closing fleshy walls possessed an irresistible, mountain-like force.

Its weaker limbs were crushed and broken first, followed by its sturdy thighs.

Finally, the entire egg-like fleshy cocoon was engulfed.

*Thud!*

The faceless giant, born from the fleshy cocoon, was forcibly flattened into a pool of bloody mire by the converging walls of flesh.

Beneath the towering, fleshy walls, blood continuously seeped out, gradually forming a crimson lake.

“Go! Close the door!” Professor Yuan tapped his toe on the ground, then lightly floated back into the elevator.

Even before he spoke, Yun Ning had already pressed the elevator’s door-close button.

He had been calmly observing the situation the entire time.

The moment the flesh giant was slain, the pixelation on the elevator’s display screen vanished.

With the power interfering with the elevator’s operation receding, the doors slowly grated shut.

Professor Yuan’s chest rose and fell in small, rhythmic breaths as he steadily calmed his erratic energy.

That terrifying, disaster-like strike had indeed consumed a significant portion of the Void Energy within him.

He needed some time to adjust himself.

However, just as his breathing technique began to circulate, he heard Yun Ning’s anxious voice from behind him. “Huang Xiu, what’s wrong?”
