The last ray of sunset vanished into the depths of the horizon, and even the breeze blowing from the riverside carried the chilling aura of late autumn.
The elegantly poised silver-haired maiden, still clad in a simple white gown, stood there gracefully, like a snow lotus blooming on a mountain peak—breathtakingly beautiful and aloof.
Yet, her mere presence immediately shifted the atmosphere. It was as if a new apex predator had entered the hunting grounds, and the other hunters instantly grew wary, their eyes narrowed and poised for action.
Only the little white rabbit continued to tremble.
“Celicia, what… what are you doing here?”
Celicia seemed to pay no mind to Ewan’s question. Her icy gaze swept casually over him, then settled on the two beautiful maidens beside him.
“Anna Campbell?”
Anna released Ewan’s hand and offered a polite smile and nod.
“It has been a long time, President.”
“Indeed, it has,” Celicia replied, surveying her. “You seem to have changed quite a bit.”
“The President is as beautiful as ever.”
Anna, in turn, carefully observed Celicia.
The maiden before her had hair like a cascading galaxy, eyelashes like crystallized frost, a face of unparalleled beauty, and eyes as clear as ice. Though she wore only a simple white dress—one that hardly befitted her status—it only served to highlight her natural, innate beauty.
‘How truly stunning,’ Anna thought with a silent sigh.
While Anna believed her own beauty was second to none, the ethereal, distant elegance Celicia possessed, like a snow lotus standing alone, was something no one could rival or imitate.
Anna understood that for men, this kind of untouchable charm, beautiful to behold but impossible to defile, was the most alluring flame imaginable.
Especially for a certain pervert.
“I remember… your name is Ann, isn’t it?”
Celicia turned her gaze to Ann, speaking softly. “We met at the Duke’s mansion before. You are Ewan’s personal maid.”
Ann withdrew her hand, gracefully pinching the hem of her maid’s uniform before bowing respectfully.
Facing a Princess, she had to uphold the Duke’s reputation by maintaining the dignified demeanor of a perfect maid. Thus, she could no longer hold Ewan’s hand with such obvious intimacy.
“Mm.”
Celicia simply nodded, saying nothing further, as if it had been nothing more than a casual greeting.
But then, her eyes fixed on Jinze.
Specifically, on the shackles in his hand.
“Jinze, what do you intend to do?”
“Th-that… Ewan Campbell attacked me…”
Celicia’s beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, and she spoke with a cold edge. “Even if he attacked you, as long as he isn’t a heretic, it’s merely a public order incident. Since when has the Silent Watch extended its reach so far as to meddle in such matters?”
“This…”
Jinze froze for a moment, then his expression immediately brightened with excitement.
“That’s right! It’s a public order incident! It’s not my business, haha! It’s not my business!”
“Ewan Campbell, just you wait! I’m going to report you to the city guard right now, you big bully! You won’t get away with this, just you wait!”
With that, Jinze fled, running so fast that he disappeared from sight in the blink of an eye.
Ewan stared blankly in the direction Jinze had run.
So many complaints welled up inside him, with nowhere to vent them.
‘What public order incident? I didn’t hit just any ordinary person! Think about your identity as a Silent Watcher, big brother!’
‘And what good will the city guard do? Those useless drunkards, do they even dare to approach within ten miles of this place?’
‘Anyone here could crush them a hundred times over!’
Ewan felt tears welling up uncontrollably.
By now, even the Silent Watchers who had been spectating had quietly retreated. On the now-silent street, only one man and three women remained.
Unbeknownst to Ewan, the three women had subtly formed a triangle around him, positioning themselves in a tacit, defensive formation, with Ewan at its very center.
‘What kind of ultimate stable structure is this? Santiago would be impressed!’
‘But calm down, Ewan, you must be calm.’
‘It’s not time for despair yet.’
‘Think carefully. This triangle isn’t so stable as to be utterly hopeless.’
‘After all… no matter how I look at it, Celicia couldn’t possibly harbor any romantic feelings for me.’
‘And with her personality, she would never vie for a man with other women, or get jealous.’
‘My connection to her is merely a marriage contract. Although that contract will soon become a substantial engagement, Celicia would certainly not be bound by such a thing.’
‘So, you’re just passing by, right, Celicia?’
Ewan looked at Celicia with hopeful anticipation.
Celicia’s gaze swept around once more before finally returning to Ewan.
Then, her cherry lips parted, and to Ewan’s eager expectation, she slowly said, “Ewan Campbell, you are coming with me.”
‘Cardiac arrest.’
In that instant, Ewan felt the atmospheric pressure in the area drop another notch. The two gazes that had previously held respect for Celicia’s status instantly turned cold.
An equilateral triangle, perfectly closed.
“Wh-what?”
Ewan’s teeth chattered, and he stammered, “Wh-why?”
“Because…”
Celicia was about to answer, but she seemed to finally notice the strange atmosphere. Her gaze swept over Ann and Anna, her delicate brows slightly raised. A subtle curve suddenly graced her lips, and she changed her words. “Do I need a reason to tell you to come with me?”
Dominant.
Powerful.
Unquestionable.
Even though the maiden stood before him, Ewan felt as if a high and mighty, aloof ice queen CEO, with a black-stockinged jade foot, was stepping on his face.
‘She’s so domineering, I love it…’
‘No, is this really the time for that?’
‘Why?!’
Ewan couldn’t comprehend it.
‘Celicia, why must you get involved too?’
‘How can my little pond withstand a great white shark like you stirring things up?’
‘Two were already terrifying enough.’
“Wait, Princess.”
At this moment, Ann could no longer hold back and stepped forward, saying, “The young master is still injured and needs to return to the Duke’s mansion to recuperate. I’m afraid he cannot go with you.”
“Precisely.”
Anna echoed, “Moreover, taking someone away without any reason like this is improper, isn’t it? It hardly befits your status as President.”
“Strange, if we’re talking about recuperation, where else would the conditions be better than in the Imperial Palace?” Celicia responded casually.
Ann’s expression subtly changed; she truly couldn’t refute that.
“As for… status?”
Celicia replied, “That’s even stranger. If we speak in terms of status, compared to your ambiguous relationships, I should be the one most qualified to take him, shouldn’t I?”
As she spoke, Celicia turned her head, a faint, meaningful smile playing on her lips, and looked at Ewan. “Wouldn’t you agree, my esteemed fiancé… who is set to be engaged to me in just a few months?”
