“You know Xun Xue?”
The moment the words left her mouth, Lu Qiancha wanted to smack herself with her own paw—what a stupid question!
The other woman had already called out her name, how could she not know her?
“The Winter’s Tear, the youngest Celestial Immortal in the history of the Snow Kingdom,” Wan Shuang scoffed, casually ruffling the furry head a couple of times. “If I didn’t even know her, I might as well abdicate my position as leader. Besides,” a trace of nostalgia flashed in her silver-gray eyes, “we have some history together.”
“By the way,” Wan Shuang added nonchalantly, as if she had just remembered something, “I already sent a message to Xun Xue when you were unconscious. Calculating the time, she should be here soon, right?” She glanced meaningfully at the snowstorm outside the door.
Lu Qiancha wasn’t too surprised by this.
After all, she had previously received news that Xun Xue was recuperating in Beiju Luzhou.
Moreover, her current appearance was practically a carbon copy of Xun Xue’s.
It wasn’t strange that she was recognized.
“By the way, the person who was with me before, where did you take her?”
Lu Qiancha blinked.
After talking with the other woman for so long, she had almost forgotten about that big block of ice.
“You mean that human?”
Wan Shuang’s silver-gray pupils instantly cooled.
“Mmm-hmm.”
Lu Qiancha nodded vigorously.
“Locked up in the ice prison.”
Her tone was as flat as if she were talking about locking up a noisy little animal.
“Uh…” Lu Qiancha’s heart skipped a beat. She cautiously probed, “Um… since the misunderstanding has been cleared up… can you let her go first? She’s really not a bad person…”
Hearing this, Wan Shuang walked over to Lu Qiancha’s side and leaned down to look at her.
“Wh-what is it?”
Lu Qiancha’s fur stood on end under that cold gaze.
Wan Shuang’s eyes suddenly narrowed. She leaned forward, and an invisible pressure instantly enveloped the little wolf cub sitting on the bed. “Oh?” Her icy breath almost brushed against Lu Qiancha’s ear. “Little Qiancha, I’m quite curious… what kind of bewitching soup did that human feed you? To make you speak up for her so devotedly?” Her speech slowed, laced with a dangerous scrutiny.
“First, you colluded with her to steal my treasured herb, and now you’re trying to absolve her… If you can’t give me a convincing reason, this crime of ‘bewitching the mind’… will have to be added to her list of charges!”
“I told you before!” Lu Qiancha put her paws on her hips, trying to look righteous and confront Wan Shuang’s cold aura with her own.
“I am a disciple of the Tianyuan Sect! She is my fellow junior martial sister! Shouldn’t fellow disciples look out for and help each other?”
“A disciple of the Tianyuan Sect?” Wan Shuang looked as if she had just heard the world’s biggest joke, the corner of her lips curling into a deeply sarcastic arc. “Ha! A human immortal sect would accept a demon as a disciple? Do you really think I’m a three-year-old wolf cub, so easy to fool?” Her gaze grew even colder. “In my opinion, that human must be cunning and has fed you some wicked, heretical soup, teaching you to lie at such a young age!”
“I never said I was a demon.”
Lu Qiancha pouted and muttered under her breath.
This sentence was like adding fuel to the fire.
The coldness around Wan Shuang surged.
At this moment, she was utterly convinced that the damned human in the ice prison outside had absolutely brainwashed Little Qiancha.
Otherwise, how could this little one, with pure royal blood flowing through her veins, disown her own roots?
She took a deep breath, forcefully suppressing her anger.
That human wasn’t going anywhere; she could settle the score later.
This little muddle-head in front of her needed to be straightened out first!
“Since you don’t consider yourself a demon, what do you consider yourself? A human?”
“What else?!” Lu Qiancha stuck her neck out, her blue eyes staring back without blinking.
“Heh… heh…” Wan Shuang was so angry she laughed.
“Since you are ‘determined’ to be human,” she said slowly, a very dangerous, “amiable” smile appearing on her face, “then there is naturally no need to waive the punishment we agreed on earlier.”
She deliberately emphasized the word “determined.”
“What punishment? The spanking?”
Lu Qiancha’s ears perked up alertly.
“You guessed right.”
A dangerous smile hung on Wan Shuang’s face.
She felt it was necessary to help her friend properly discipline her child.
“Then go ahead and do it.”
Lu Qiancha said nonchalantly, not in the least bit afraid.
“However, considering you’re still young, I’ve decided to punish you in a different way.”
As Wan Shuang spoke, she stood up and grabbed Lu Qiancha by the scruff of her clothes, lifting her up like a little kitten.
“What way… Hey, put me down! I can walk on my own.”
Lu Qiancha’s fur instantly stood on end.
She kicked her legs and waved her paws frantically in mid-air, but the large hand holding her was unmoving.
Wan Shuang’s power and realm suppression were on full display.
Wan Shuang ignored her protests, sat back down steadily on the wooden chair, and then, with a flick of her wrist—
“Ngh—?!”
Lu Qiancha’s vision turned upside down.
She was now on her back, and then, with an irresistible force, she was pressed down onto Wan Shuang’s firm thigh!
The position… was quite humiliating!
“Wh-what are you doing?!”
Lu Qiancha struggled in terror, trying to flip over.
The next second, she felt a chill from behind—the hem of her thick robes was easily lifted by a hand.
“You’ll know soon enough.”
Wan Shuang’s voice came from above her, carrying an… unprecedented and chilling “gentleness.”
“Smack!!!”
An extremely crisp and loud slapping sound suddenly exploded in the simple wooden hut!
The sound was so piercing it even created a slight echo.
Where the palm landed, a fiery, sharp pain instantly swept through her nerves!
“Awooo—!!! It hurts!!!”
Caught completely off guard, Lu Qiancha let out a earth-shattering scream!
Her little face instantly scrunched up.
Wan Shuang had her own sense of proportion.
The blow seemed vicious, but she had actually used her pure immortal energy to infuse a trace of gentle yet intensely stimulating immortal power into Lu Qiancha’s body.
On one hand, this force could help clear any minor blockages in her meridians and expel any stagnation in her body, but on the other hand… the effect was comparable to being pricked with a red-hot needle!
It was pure spiritual and physical torture!
“Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack—!” A series of rapid, crisp slaps followed like a sudden storm.
At first, a certain little wolf loli tried to be tough. “Ha! Is that all? Is that all the force you have?” “What about the eight hundred strokes? Please hurry it up! I have to cultivate after this! Mmph!” “Hiss… so light… did you not eat… Ow, ow, ow! Don’t add more force!!!”
When the punishment reached around one hundred and sixty strokes—
“Smack!!!”
“Waaah—!!”
Lu Qiancha shuddered violently, tears almost bursting from her eyes!
Wan Shuang had nonchalantly increased the force.
The penetration was stronger, and the pain increased exponentially.
Lu Qiancha felt as if her bottom was being repeatedly branded by a red-hot iron plate.
“Stop… stop for a moment… sob! It really… hurts too much!” She finally began to soften, her voice laced with a clear sob.
Wan Shuang turned a deaf ear, her strikes precise and steady, one after another.
And after four hundred strokes, Wan Shuang once again increased the force of her hand…
“Smack!!!”
“Wuwu aaahhh—!!!” Lu Qiancha completely broke down!
She felt as if her soul was about to be beaten out of her.
She could no longer control her tears, which fell in large drops, her voice cracking from screaming.
“Sob, sob… Senior Wan Shuang. I was wrong, I really know I was wrong! I’ll never dare to take your clan’s things again! I won’t even pick a single blade of grass! Waaah… please… please stop…”
The little wolf cub began to beg for mercy, crying her eyes out, trying to move Wan Shuang with her pitiful state.
Unfortunately, Wan Shuang paid no heed to her crying.
Whether Lu Qiancha softened her stance and pleaded, or cried until she was out of breath, that steady, powerful hand still rose and fell at a set rhythm, without a single deviation.
The precision of the blows made Lu Qiancha realize with despair that she would not be spared a single one of the eight hundred strokes.
As the count neared six hundred—
“Sob…wu wu…”
The punished body had long since given up its futile struggle, lying limply on Wan Shuang’s lap.
The series of crisp slapping sounds continued, but the only response was a kitten-like, low, pitiful whimper, full of grievance and despair. “Sob…wu… sob…”
The light in the little wolf cub’s eyes had completely vanished, leaving only a blank, hollow void, blurred by pain and tears.
She had given up thinking.
She had been beaten from Lu Qiancha into Lu Yingying.
(TL note: The Chinese onomatopoeia “嘤” (yīng) is usually a cute, whiny, or coquettish sound people make in text (like a small whimper or soft sob).)
With the final “smack!”, the eight hundred count was finally complete.
Wan Shuang finally withdrew her hand.
Looking down, the little one on her lap was like a melted blue puddle, completely still.
Her behind was flushed with a bright, hot red, and was trembling slightly.
She was in a state of extreme exhaustion, grievance, and soul-out-of-body emptiness.
Only the very light, very soft—”…ying…”—that still unconsciously spilled from her throat proved that she hadn’t completely passed out, just that she had been thoroughly subdued, beaten into a daze, and had her spirit broken.
And at this moment, a trace of helpless yet gentle smile finally appeared in the depths of Wan Shuang’s originally serious eyes.
She quietly circulated an extremely pure immortal spiritual energy and, without a sound, passed it from her palm into the little wolf cub’s hotly stinging meridians, quickly soothing the intense stimulation and gave birth to new vitality.
