Come to think of it, Doha, who should have been beside him, was nowhere to be seen. Had he, by any chance, slept outside because of Sana? He quickly got out of bed and went into the living room, but Doha wasn’t there.
Only then did he check the clock and saw it was past 8 AM. He had overslept by two hours more than usual.
He felt sorry, thinking that the only thing he could do for Doha here was prepare meals, and he couldn’t even do that because he overslept. Of course, Doha hadn’t asked him to, but he wanted to do whatever he could.
He was about to turn towards the bathroom, thinking he might be there, when he spotted a note on the dining table.
– I have work, so I’m leaving early. Make sure to eat properly. Don’t just skip meals because you’re alone.
It was a note left by Doha. To think he had slept without even knowing when he left; last night’s events must have been quite shocking in many ways.
Come to think of it, he had fallen asleep right after doing something naughty with Doha yesterday. His hands, and Doha’s hands, had been messily wet… He looked down and saw his body was clean. There were no traces of anything on his hands at all.
‘Did Doha, by any chance, wipe me clean?’ ‘He must have found it annoying and bothersome…’
Sana, whose gaze was drifting downwards, paused. He felt unusually empty below. He wasn’t just without pants, but also without underwear, leaving his crotch completely exposed to the air.
“Aaaaah!”
He flopped down onto the spot, his earlobes flushed crimson. Even though he knew no one else was home, he felt embarrassed. To think Doha himself had wiped him clean in this state… ‘Exactly how far?’
It wasn’t just his hands that were wet; he had held both their privates with those hands and rubbed them together, so that area must have been a mess too. But even at a glance, his privates were clean. ‘Did Doha, by any chance, clean all of that…?’
As he recalled Doha wiping every part of his body, even his neck felt hot.
There was no greater impropriety. ‘He must have been uncomfortable seeing me in such a state, which is why he avoided my face.’
Sana’s gaze went to the note Doha had left. ‘Did he really leave early because of work?’ Or was it because he was fed up with Sana?
If Doha were in front of him, he would want to apologize, but since he wasn’t home, that was impossible. ‘If I had known this, I would have gotten his phone number.’ He had never thought he needed a phone in his life, but now, for the first time, he regretted not having one.
Kim Sinhak, sitting in the back right seat, kept uselessly flicking the lighter flint.
A heavy silence filled the car, so much so that the sound was annoyingly loud in his ears. Doha, sitting on the left, kept his gaze fixed on the scenery outside the window.
‘If I had known it would be this suffocating, I would have insisted on getting into a different car.’
It was too late for regrets. They usually moved separately, but today, Kim Sinhak had ‘ordered’ him to ride in the same car.
He didn’t strictly need to obey him, but there were many eyes watching, and they had to move together for an important transaction, so he didn’t want to create conflict from the start and willingly got into the same car.
And until now, Kim Sinhak had kept his mouth shut, only frowning, to an extent that Doha couldn’t understand why he had asked him to ride in the same car.
“We’ll arrive in 5 minutes.”
The driver said, looking at Kim Sinhak through the rearview mirror.
“Okay.”
Kim Sinhak, who replied curtly, took a deep breath that sounded like a hoo-eup.
“Do you know what kind of goods we’re going to receive now?”
He suddenly spoke to him. However, he was still looking straight ahead, so Doha realized a beat late that he was talking to him.
“I haven’t been informed.”
At Doha’s reply, the corners of Kim Sinhak’s lips subtly curled up.
“So that’s all he tells you.”
He mumbled something that Doha couldn’t tell if it was to himself or meant for Doha to hear. One thing was certain: he looked much better than a moment ago.
“Don’t meddle in unnecessary things and just do the job Big Brother assigned you well.”
Kim Sinhak emphasized once more. He had never overstepped his authority to begin with, but he just listened silently without retorting.
The car, which had driven deep into Incheon Port, finally stopped.
Doha got out of the car and looked around. He had expected it to be the container terminal, but it wasn’t. There were no large containers visible. Instead, several boats, which looked like private cruises, were docked.
“You’ve arrived?”
The group standing a little ahead acknowledged Kim Sinhak when they saw him. They were all in black suits and black sunglasses. The one who seemed to be their leader walked forward, then paused when he saw Doha.
“And that person…?”
He asked, gesturing towards Doha with his chin.
“General Manager.”
Kim Sinhak replied curtly. ‘General Manager’ was a position he had never heard of, but since Park Jaemin had entrusted Doha with financial management, it might not be entirely wrong.
“He’s just here to handle the money, so don’t worry about him.”
The person, who seemed to have understood Kim Sinhak’s words, looked at Doha for a moment, then twisted one corner of his mouth into a smirk, and nodded, saying, “Understood.”
“They must not trust people very much. Seeing as they want the goods and money handled separately.”
The other person placed a square bag on the hood of the car. There was a password lock on top, so it had to be opened by entering the correct numbers.
“What is this?”
Kim Sinhak looked at the password lock and asked back, clearly displeased.
“It’s a precaution. I’ll tell you the password once the transaction is complete, so don’t be sensitive.”
The other person retorted calmly and handed Kim Sinhak a long piece of paper.
“The receipt. Deposit the money as written there.”
At the other person’s words, this time Kim Sinhak chuckled. He gestured, and Kim Sinhak’s subordinate, who was standing behind him, brought something out of the car.
“Put it up.”
What the subordinate brought out was a digital scale. When Kim Sinhak’s subordinate tried to put the bag on the scale, the other person snatched the bag away.
“What’s with this?”
Kim Sinhak’s voice instantly sharpened.
“Just in case you run off with it before paying.”
The other person retorted with a faint smile.
“I’ll put it on myself, don’t touch it.”
He warned Kim Sinhak’s subordinate, then placed the bag on the scale himself. Kim Sinhak confirmed the number displayed on the scale and nodded.
“If you’ve confirmed it, deposit the money.”
The other person still didn’t take his hand off the bag. It meant he wouldn’t hand it over until the money was deposited.
“You bastard, are you playing games?”
Kim Sinhak took out a cigarette, put it in his mouth, and glared at the other person.
“You have to subtract the weight of the bag, don’t you?”
The air seemed to tighten. The other person also glared at Kim Sinhak, then let out a short, sharp breath. He opened the bag and took out a long glass bottle containing a transparent liquid.
When he placed the glass bottle on the scale, a number slightly over 10g appeared.
“Subtracting the weight of the glass bottle, 10g each, for a total of 30. Is that right?”
He showed the inside of the bag to Kim Sinhak, as if to confirm. As he said, the same glass bottles were neatly packed inside. Kim Sinhak threw the cigarette he was holding onto the ground, crushed it with his foot, then nodded. He handed the receipt he had received to the person standing next to him and told him to give it to Doha.
The receipt was handed to Doha, who had been standing behind them, observing the situation until then.
“You heard everything, right? Calculate and deposit the money as written there, according to the total weight.”
At Kim Sinhak’s words, Doha looked down at the receipt. The unit price was written as 1 million won per gram. He had said one glass bottle was 10g, so 10 million won per bottle, for 30 bottles, it was a total of 300 million won. ‘What on earth was the identity of that liquid…?’ He tried to suppress the urge to frown and, with an indifferent expression, took out his phone and transferred 300 million won from the account Park Jaemin had given him.
“I’ve deposited it.”
Meanwhile, another person approached the one holding the bag and whispered something. The person, having confirmed the money was deposited, closed the bag, spun the password dial, and handed it to Kim Sinhak.
“He told me to give the password to that person.”
He gestured with his chin towards Doha, who was standing behind them. At the same time, Kim Sinhak’s face twisted violently.
“And you can take the goods as you usually do.”
At the added words, Doha also understood the situation.
It meant Kim Sinhak was to deliver the goods, and he was to deliver the password to Park Jaemin, respectively. Judging from the other person’s words, Park Jaemin seemed to have instructed it that way.
“Meaning he doesn’t trust anyone.”
The other person chuckled contemptuously and turned away.
“f*ck.”
Kim Sinhak cursed lowly, but he didn’t lash out emotionally as he had in the office. This was a transaction involving 300 million won. It seemed that even Kim Sinhak couldn’t act rashly. It was as if the accumulated dissatisfaction within him was raging around him.
“Choi Doha.”
Kim Sinhak gritted his teeth and called Doha’s name. Doha didn’t seem to need an answer, so he just stood there silently, looking at him.
“I don’t know what you did to win Big Brother’s favor, but don’t get conceited. I don’t trust you. Your eyes, I don’t like them. It’s unsettling that I can’t tell what you’re thinking, it’s devious and makes me uncomfortable. Big Brother probably feels the same way. A bastard like you is just to be used and discarded.”
Doha showed no expression at the words about being used and discarded by Park Jaemin. ‘Like a rabbit boiled after catching the dog,’ whether it would be him or Kim Sinhak remained to be seen.
Kim Sinhak was expressing his displeasure that Park Jaemin had assigned Doha the work, but Doha thought the words of the person who handed over the bag were correct.
Park Jaemin didn’t trust Kim Sinhak or himself 100%. It was just that Kim Sinhak was getting angry like a child because Park Jaemin’s feelings weren’t returning, despite him trusting and following him.
