A Stern Welcome and a New Reality

Chapter 24903 words8 min read

To be honest, I gradually calmed down after a while. He wasn’t deliberately provoking me; on the contrary, he was comforting me.

Yet, the sensation was infuriating: suffering a great loss but having no one to blame, a feeling akin to a fishbone lodged in my throat.

After a hasty meal, I stood up and left without a word of farewell.

Ryan Micheus was left behind, his face a picture of utter bewilderment.

He pondered deeply, trying to understand what precisely had gone wrong with his words. He had felt so cautious, each sentence carefully weighed.

Watching the departing figure of the young girl, he let out a soft sigh.

Stepping out, I noticed the sky had begun to darken.

Just then, a message popped up on my personal terminal, summoning me to the Dean of Students’ office.

“Dean of Students’ office?” I mused. ‘What’s that? I’ve never heard of it.’

Ah, right, the Headmaster had given me a map.

I promptly brought up the map on my personal terminal.

“Hmm,” I mumbled. ‘First campus, I think it’s a left turn…’

Armed with the map, I got lost for over an hour—no, rather, I hurried for over an hour—before finally arriving at the Dean of Students’ office door.

Taking a deep breath, I knocked.

“Come in,” a gentle female voice called from within.

With a soft ‘click,’ I pushed the door open.

Before me stood a young woman with silver-grey hair.

“Allow me to introduce myself,” she said, a smile gracing her lips. “I am Ling Lan, the Dean of Students for this academy.”

Out of politeness, I began to introduce myself. “Uh, I…”

Before I could utter more than a few words, she cut me off. “As the Dean of Students for this school, isn’t it my duty to remember every single student?”

I thought, ‘Surely that’s not a Dean’s duty. No ordinary person could possibly achieve that.’

I completely failed to realize that in the God Realm, there were no ‘normal people,’ only ‘normal gods’ at best.

“Well then, the reason I called you here today is quite simple,” Ling Lan stated, leaning back in her chair and gazing at me with a serious expression. “You must understand your current situation.”

‘My situation? What did she mean? What “situation” did I need to understand?’

Ignoring my bewildered expression, she continued, “You don’t need to know the specifics. Just remember, one wrong move, and you might just die.”

I offered a somewhat forced smile. “Dean, you’re not joking, are you…?”

She maintained her posture, her white formal attire enhancing her elegant demeanor. “Regrettably, I am not joking. However, there’s no need to worry excessively. You simply need to diligently adhere to the following points.”

“Firstly, under no circumstances are you to reveal your ascension world—that is, Earth.”

“Secondly, without compromising the first rule, you are to have no communication with any divine pillar faction other than the Seventh Divine Lord.”

“Thirdly, while ensuring the above two points, strive to become as outstanding as possible. If you end up a good-for-nothing, I’ll still be quite troubled.”

“So… what would happen if I were to expose it?” I asked, feeling utterly confused.

“Who knows?” she replied, smiling as she looked at me. “Honestly, I’m quite curious myself. Perhaps you’d like to try?”

I thought, ‘Only a fool would try that. Does she think I have a death wish?’

“No thank you,” I said quickly. “I absolutely trust you, Dean.”

She nodded. “However, if you feel someone is trustworthy enough, there’s no harm in telling them. It’s entirely up to you.”

As she spoke, she retrieved a bag from beneath her desk. “Originally, you were supposed to collect this from the academic affairs office, but since you were coming to me, I simply picked it up for you.”

I took the bag and glanced inside. She then continued,

“This contains your school-issued terminal. You should replace your old one with this. While it might not be superior to your previous one, it’s a mandatory regulation. Inside, you’ll also find your identification and your school uniform.”

I confirmed the contents, then asked, “Are there… pants?”

She paused, a flicker of surprise crossing her face. “Hmm, it seems there are. Here,” she said, pulling out another bag.

I clutched the bag as if it were a priceless treasure. ‘Now Lavishly Karafar can’t say a word, can she? This is a school uniform!’

The school uniform was black, featuring a design with a shirt, a jacket, and either a pleated skirt or long trousers.

However, there was one significant difference from Earth’s uniforms: the back, which appeared to have fabric, actually had none. Instead, divine magic had been applied to facilitate the extension of wings.

“And so, from today onward, you are officially a member of our school,” she concluded. “Welcome, Ye Menghan.”

Leaving the Dean of Students’ office and walking back to the dormitory, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotion.

Just over a week ago, I was merely a shut-in, a gaming addict cooped up at home. Now, I had ascended to godhood, entered the God Realm, and embarked on an entirely new life.

Gazing at the beautiful campus and the stunning sky, I realized I had never attended school before, nor had I ever truly admired the night sky quite like this.
