Inside the elevator, Professor Yuan was providing an explanation regarding the sudden transformation of the boy into a girl.
“Some individuals possess supernatural abilities that are inherently more suited, or perhaps exclusively suited, to a female physique. When such individuals enter their pupation period and begin their physical completion, their bodies automatically transform and align with the female form.”
Outside the elevator, a bustling market teeming with people unfolded, signifying a relatively normal Void Realm.
This also implied a minimal amount of danger.
Consequently, Professor Yuan did not rush to press the close button, allowing the elevator doors to remain open; they required a brief period of adjustment before proceeding to the Myriad Realms Transfer Station.
This pause would allow them to address the current unforeseen situation.
“Previous research into physical completion had demonstrated that the physical transformation during the pupation period was not solely linked to one’s supernatural ability, but also deeply connected to the Anomalous Individual’s inherent inner disposition.”
“Those who yearned for greater height would grow taller after completion, those wishing for beauty would become beautiful, while individuals with timid hearts who perceived themselves as ugly would find their appearance growing uglier.”
Professor Yuan’s gaze swept over the crowded masses outside the elevator, adding, “And Anomalous Individuals who, deep within their hearts, believe themselves to be female, will manifest various feminized completion characteristics, even transforming completely into women.”
“That’s the so-called ‘xiang you xin sheng’ (TL Note: A Chinese idiom meaning ‘appearance is born from the heart’ or ‘one’s outward appearance reflects their inner nature’),” Yun Ning summarized.
He had never encountered this theory in any book, yet if Professor Yuan stated its existence, then it must be true.
It was likely classified information from the research department.
Professor Yuan explained to his disciple, “The adage ‘appearance is born from the heart’ is far from an empty platitude.”
“Which category does Student Huang fall into, then?”
Yun Ning looked down at the girl, her brow furrowed, her lower lip pressed tightly, resembling someone who had just awoken from a nightmare.
He was intensely curious.
He wondered if this current transformation was truly Student Huang’s inner desire, or merely a consequence of her supernatural ability.
Professor Yuan recalled Huang Xiu’s initial examination papers.
“It should be the first kind! According to the initial examination papers, Huang Xiu’s psychological gender was unequivocally male.”
Only they knew the truth.
The most crucial part of those initial examination papers was, in fact, the psychological test questions that seemed like mere filler.
Anomalous Individuals who had undergone mental anomalous transformation invariably suffered from their own distinct psychological issues—without exception.
Only through analysis of these psychological tests…
…could they discern the specific psychological defects present in these newly awakened Anomalous Individuals.
“It’s likely that his supernatural ability possesses a unique compatibility with a female physique, which is why he transformed during his completion. This also offers an alternative explanation for why he failed to complete his first awakening.”
Professor Yuan’s eyes gleamed brightly.
“During his initial awakening, the Void Energy stimulation proved insufficient, which prevented his successful transformation and ultimately interrupted his awakening.”
“So that’s how it is,” Yun Ning murmured, a sudden understanding dawning upon him.
He paused, then asked, “What should we do now? Are we still heading to the Myriad Realms Transfer Station?”
Their journey to the Myriad Realms Transfer Station had been solely for Huang Xiu’s awakening.
However, Huang Xiu had not only successfully awakened but had also, in one fell swoop, broken through to the adult stage.
This presented quite an awkward predicament.
“Of course we’ll go! Why wouldn’t we?” Professor Yuan chuckled. “Haven’t you always wanted to go?”
He knew his student’s desires all too well.
Caught with his thoughts exposed, Yun Ning sheepishly scratched his head.
“Moreover, once Huang Xiu awakens, we can test her supernatural ability right there at the Myriad Realms Transfer Station.”
****
There had been no dream, only the sensation of waking from a severe hangover, a splitting headache, and lips parched with a dry tongue.
“Student Huang, you’re finally awake?” A familiar yet strangely unfamiliar male voice reached her ears.
Her eyelids fluttered, trembling slightly, attempting to lift before falling back down, and only after a long moment did they part, revealing a tiny slit.
Through that narrow slit, concealed by layers of thick lashes, a bewildered gaze, like that of a fawn, peered out.
‘Who am I? Where am I?’
The pristine white lights flickered, casting mottled double images.
Huang Xiu slowly opened her eyes.
Beneath a vast marble dome, a colossal crystal chandelier, the size of a small house, hung suspended.
Her eyes, which had been closed for so long, were suddenly assaulted by the intense light.
Glistening tears immediately welled in her eyes, then streamed, one by one, down her beautiful face.
“Hey, hey, hey, Student Huang, why are you crying?” The clear, resonant male voice beside her suddenly grew frantic. “Don’t worry, the changes to your body are minor; we’ll help you sort them out.”
‘Changes to my body? When?’
Huang Xiu felt a flicker of confusion at the words, but swiftly, memories from before her unconsciousness began to violently elbow their way into her mind.
She had just undergone her second awakening, but midway through, her entire body was suddenly wracked with intense pain.
And amidst that agony, her body seemed to have undergone some transformation.
‘Listening to Yun Ning’s anxious tone, were the changes truly severe? Could she… have turned into… a monster?’
Huang Xiu’s heart instantly skipped a beat.
“What happened to me?”
“You… see for yourself,” Yun Ning stammered, unsure how to phrase it.
Huang Xiu struggled to sit up from the ground, then quickly looked down at her lower body to confirm.
Good, she still had two legs and two arms; no strange, peculiar organs had sprouted.
She was still human!
Huang Xiu breathed a sigh of relief.
Soon, however, a new wave of confusion washed over her… why had her hands and legs become so slender?
“My hands and feet… Mm? Cough, cough, cough?”
Huang Xiu had barely uttered a few words when she realized that what emerged from her throat was a soft, slightly delicate and clear female voice.
She quickly coughed a few times, clearing her throat, but her voice remained utterly unchanged.
“Why has my voice become like this?”
Having devoured countless books, she instantly realized something was amiss, a profoundly unsettling premonition rising in her heart.
It was then that Huang Xiu also noticed a small curve had swelled on her chest.
Her hands trembled as she placed them upon it, pressing down gently.
So soft!
Good, it was her own chest, not some other thing!
Bloody hell!
Good, my ass!
Huang Xiu was both shocked and mortified, her teeth grinding together audibly.
A disgrace, an absolute disgrace!
Damn this supernatural ability, damn this awakening, damn these Anomalous Individuals!
She would have preferred anything else to be swelling on her chest.
Even a tumor, or tentacles, would have been preferable—she would have even welcomed two penises (TL Note: A likely phonetic pun on ‘niúzi’, a slang term for penis. The character Huang Xiu, formerly male, is expressing extreme frustration at having grown breasts instead of other, more ‘masculine’ or fantastical appendages.) or two laser guns!
She was a boy! What was the point of growing such large breasts? Was she supposed to breastfeed her future wife’s children?
“Damn it, can they be cut off?” Huang Xiu demanded, looking at the two beside her. “I have money, I’ll pay!”
Professor Yuan glanced at Yun Ning, who had turned away, unwilling to speak, and let out a sigh. In this situation, no matter how much his scalp tingled with exasperation, he had no choice but to step forward and placate Huang Xiu.
“Emm… from the perspective of bodily integrity, and considering your future life, I wouldn’t recommend having them removed.”
“Heh heh, is that so, is that so?” Huang Xiu scoffed twice, then calmly ran a hand over her face, before tugging hard at her long, straight black hair that reached her buttocks, the force making her grimace like a husky in pain.
She clamped her legs together, then rubbed them up and down.
Excellent, her ‘Big Dragon’ had indeed been stolen too.
Damn it!
In that instant, everything clicked for Huang Xiu.
Trembling, she pulled her phone from her pocket and, with a reluctant persistence, opened the front-facing camera.
Her Honor phone, costing over a thousand yuan, was equipped with only a 10-megapixel front camera.
Truthfully, this wasn’t a particularly high resolution.
Yet, this did not prevent the phone from capturing the image of a beautiful girl with picturesque features, radiating youthful charm, and displaying it on the screen.
Excellent, the seventeen-year-old “he” could finally transform.
Only, instead of becoming a Kamen Rider, he had transformed into a beautiful high school girl with long, straight black hair.
The kind who, simply by stepping out and taking a casual selfie, could become the cherished youthful memory of countless boys.
Even if First High wasn’t known for its campus belles and hunks, Huang Xiu believed that those brutes, upon seeing her, would undoubtedly howl and elevate her to that position.
Alas… she would rather be one of those howling brutes than the girl being elevated.
Huang Xiu snapped her phone shut, stood up, and looked at the two men before her, saying coldly, “Professor Yuan, Student Yun, could you two please do me the favor of explaining this transformation of mine?”
