Chapter 24: The Black Knight’s Crushing Defeat

The Black Knight’s gaze toward Seyul was anything but friendly.

He had been trying to get Seyul out of this situation for his sake, yet here he was, saying the strangest things.

“Shut up! No matter what you say, I’m going to help, so just keep your mouth shut.”

Seyul snapped back sharply.

This wasn’t just about being contrary.

He had a reason he couldn’t back down.

‘That was close. I almost lost control of the situation.’

If someone asked Seyul for help and he was the one considering it, that meant he held the reins.

But if someone else stepped in and made the decision for him, the story changed.

He couldn’t stand outsiders meddling in his affairs like this.

Even if it was supposedly for his own good.

How many times had he seen people interfere under the pretense of helping him?

Sometimes, things involving him were settled without him even knowing.

It had happened multiple times in this world already.

‘Seyul, I’m sorry for lying to you. But I did it for you.’

‘For me? And what exactly was for me?’

‘Everything! It was all for you!’

A face he could never forget resurfaced in his mind.

The person who, in a way, was the root cause of how he had become like this.

‘Even now, you’re still tormenting me.’

A presence he wished to forget but never could.

That person had always interfered, claiming it was for his sake.

And in the end, it only led to regrets.

Memories of the past struck him like a whip, nearly triggering his trauma.

Seyul clenched his teeth and shouted fiercely.

“Listen up, all of you. No matter what you say, I’m going to help. Even if you decide to abandon the rebellion, I’ll do it alone!”

Not only was he forcing his help, but he was even saying that if they did nothing, he would handle everything himself!

For the first time, the Black Knight abandoned his cold demeanor and looked genuinely taken aback.

“What kind of idiot….”

A crude remark almost slipped past his lips, but he managed to swallow it down.

[No way, he’s actually an idiot!]

But the viewers in the chat had no qualms about saying what the Black Knight was thinking.

[What kind of logic is this?]

[I’ve never seen someone insist on helping when told not to.]

[This guy is definitely planning to screw them over.]

[A new kind of villain: the Forceful Help Villain!]

[Every time I watch, he finds a more creative way to mess with people.]

[This is so messed up… but hilarious.]

[JUST TAKE THE HELP.]

<HighHighSir has donated 550,000 won.>

The audience, having no idea what was going on inside Seyul’s head, just found it entertaining and laughed it off.

However, the monsters reacted differently.

“This is… touching!”

“He’s really willing to go this far for us?”

“To think he’d devote himself even though he has nothing to do with us!”

They didn’t know Seyul’s true intentions.

They genuinely believed he was selflessly helping them out of pure goodwill.

Even though he had no obligation to stay, he still insisted on offering his help.

That level of selflessness deeply moved them.

“You are truly a hero. I pay my respects!”

Even Osman, their leader, was so touched that he bowed his head deeply toward Seyul.

Seyul’s reputation among the monsters soared sky-high.

“I haven’t given my permission yet!”

The Black Knight shouted angrily as the situation naturally shifted into Seyul becoming their ally again.

He stepped forward, blocking the space between Seyul and the monsters, and glared down at him.

“Human, I challenge you to a duel.”

“Oh, so you’re gonna fight me because I won’t listen?”

“Who do you take me for? I don’t resort to such cowardly tactics. I just want to show everyone that they don’t need you.”

The Black Knight scoffed, looking down on Seyul.

“With me here, we don’t need a weakling like you. If you were as strong as me, or even close, then maybe.”

“Ohhh? So you’re saying I should prove my skills in a duel?”

“If you even have any skills to prove.”

The Black Knight spoke with absolute confidence.

He didn’t believe for a second that Seyul was stronger than him.

This duel was just an excuse.

His plan was to humiliate Seyul in battle and kick him out.

‘Oh, so this is your idea of being honorable? You’re not even subtle about it.’

Seyul instantly saw through him.

Honestly, this wasn’t the first time.

Because of how he looked, people constantly underestimated him.

And they always challenged him to duels, thinking it would be an easy win.

Seyul smirked coldly and turned to Osman.

“You heard all that, right?”

“Yeah.”

“Lead us somewhere suitable for a fight.”

“…Haah. Fine.”

Osman sighed and agreed.

Truthfully, he wanted to stop them, but neither party was in the mood to listen. There was nothing he could do.

The resistance’s underground base was quite spacious.

After moving a bit from their current spot, they reached a wide, open training ground.

Seyul and the Black Knight stepped to the very center.

Standing face to face, the Black Knight spoke.

“Summon your creature.”

“…Huh?”

“To a Summoner, a summoned being is their weapon. I won’t strike first against an unarmed opponent. Summon it now.”

“Actually, I’m not a Summoner.”

“Don’t joke around! We already know you used summoning magic to deal with high-ranking monsters!”

“That was actually—”

Seyul tried to explain, but it was pointless.

The Black Knight and the monsters were convinced that he was a Summoner.

‘Even if they want me to summon something, I can’t do it!’

The Black Knight refused to fight unless he summoned something.

Seyul sighed. A careless lie had come back to bite him.

< Hey. >

But then—

His supposed summoned creature appeared at just the right moment.

Seyul’s eyes widened as he stared at the crimson doll before him.

“You again? What do you want?”

< I need to talk to you for a sec. >

“What about?”

< Uh… can we just forget something? >

“Forget what?”

< You know, before I left… I said I’d bet my right hand that the Water God didn’t give power to monsters… >

Seyul’s face twisted like a cat who had smelled something fishy.

Wait…

So, the Fire God had just confirmed that the Water God did help the monsters.

And now, afraid of losing his hand, he was trying to backpedal?!

[LOOOOL]

[HAHAHAHAHA]

[Why is he so pathetic?]

[I literally laughed out loud.]

[I’m at work and burst out laughing. Now everyone’s staring at me.]

[Fire God, officially 2025’s funniest character.]

The viewers cracked up at the Fire God’s desperate attempt to save himself.

“Fine, I’ll pretend I didn’t hear it.”

Seyul could only sigh. He was too dumbfounded to be mad.

“Stay here for a bit, though.”

< For how long? >

“Until I’m done with this fight.”

Seyul instructed the Fire God and turned to the Black Knight.

“This good enough for you?”

“Good. Now we can fight properly.”

Since the Black Knight didn’t know the Fire God’s true identity, he showed no reaction.

He simply believed Seyul had finally summoned his creature and prepared himself accordingly.

He drew the sword from his waist and held it with precision, speaking in a calm tone.

“It’s not too late. Surrender now and walk away.”

“You think I’ll lose before we even start?”

“Of course. You’re just a human.”

“Hmm~.”

The Black Knight kept harping on about humans.

Seyul looked up at him with bored eyes.

“You really think all humans are weak?”

“It’s not just an opinion. It’s a fact. Humans are fragile. A simple wound or illness can kill them.”

“Even those who can wield magic, like me?”

“You’re better than most humans, but that’s all. Even at the same level, there’s an overwhelming gap between humans and monsters.”

In raw stats, monsters far outperformed humans.

On top of that, they had racial traits and unique abilities.

The Black Knight wasn’t wrong.

Of course, this was only true within the world of this game.

‘There are strong humans too.’

Seyul smirked bitterly to himself.

He had once thought the same way.

Most humans were no match for the overwhelming racial strength of the Melusine.

But that arrogance had once cost him dearly.

“What’s your race?”

Seyul, recalling the human powerhouses who had given him a hard time, casually asked.

“I’m a vampire, just like Osman. Why do you ask?”

“Because durability depends on race. Since vampires have regeneration, I guess I can go a little rougher on you.”

Seyul spoke lightly.

He intended to teach the Black Knight, who was just as arrogant as he had once been, a lesson.

“You sure know how to talk big.”

But the Black Knight only took his words as provocation.

“Let’s see if your skills match your mouth!”

He raised his sword, taking a combat stance against Seyul.

The chat was soon filled with concerned messages.

[We know Seyul’s strong, but isn’t the Black Knight dangerous?]

The Black Knight was a formidable opponent, often serving as a rival to players.

Everyone was worried whether Seyul could really win against him.

[Yeah, the Black Knight’s no joke.]

[He soloed hundreds in a melee game.]

[Most characters in Untouchable are just normal humans.]

[But the Black Knight is a high-level monster.]

[His level is 4.]

[In real-world terms, he’s equivalent to a B-rank Kaiju.]

[Even the weakest Kaiju can tear a human in half.]

[This guy can pick up a road roller like a toy and leap several stories high.]

[Why a road roller, though?]

[Speed is his unique ability.]

[Among those in his tier, he’s by far the fastest.]

[His speed stat is about three times higher than his other stats.]

[Someone did the math he moves at over 700 km/h!]

That was practically supersonic.

Could Seyul really keep up with something that fast?

He had pulled off plenty of insane feats before, but this time, everyone was genuinely worried.

As the tension mounted, the Black Knight, who had been glaring at Seyul for a while, finally moved.

700 km/h.

Beyond the speed of an arrow closer to a bullet.

For most, the Black Knight was too fast to even see.

Except for one being.

The Fire God.

And then

The Black Knight crashed straight into the ceiling at full speed.

“ACK!”

With a loud boom, he slammed into the ceiling and then came crashing down.

He had no idea what just happened.

He had clearly rushed toward Seyul, so why was he suddenly embedded in the ceiling?

“My… my arm?!”

To make matters worse, at some point, his left arm his swordless hand had been severed.

“You lost.”

Seyul’s voice was cold as he looked down at the fallen arm.

The Black Knight, scrambling to his feet, suddenly shouted.

“I never had a left arm to begin with!”

It was a desperate excuse, but of course, no one was buying it.
