Chapter 25
After Airenst’s little farce, the atmosphere in the conference room finally reverted to its usual state. As Airenst returned to her seat, Kristia cleared her throat softly. She then addressed Lisbeth.
“Lisbeth, please reintroduce yourself. Although everyone present knows your identity, a self-introduction is also an excellent opportunity to express your intentions. Don’t disappoint us.”
“Understood. My thanks to the Demon Lord for granting me this opportunity once more.”
Kristia’s words carried a clear implication, one Lisbeth readily understood. To put it plainly, Lisbeth had once been the arch-nemesis of the entire demon race. Though stripped of his power, this did not automatically grant him acceptance. Thus, this self-introduction was Lisbeth’s prime chance to declare his stance.
With this thought, Lisbeth took a deep breath. He walked to the seat where Kristia now sat, then gently knelt on one knee. He addressed everyone present.
“Allow me to reintroduce myself. My former name was Alex, Alex Decadolran. As you all know, I was once the hero of the human race, and your greatest enemy.”
“However, I am now the Demon Lord’s loyal servant. My name is no longer Alex, but Lisbeth. My body, my heart, both are now entirely devoted to the Demon Lord. Though I never presumed I would receive such favor from the Demon Lord, allowing her to overlook past grievances and grant me a position equal to all of yours, now that I am in this seat, I hope to get along well with everyone and dedicate everything I have solely to the Demon Lord.”
Lisbeth’s tone was utterly earnest. His pace of speech was not fast, yet his voice resonated loudly, imbued with unwavering resolve as he conveyed his thoughts to those present. Witnessing this, Kristia smiled faintly. She then turned her head, surveying the four personal maids standing by her sides.
“What do you think of Lisbeth’s statement?”
“It’s quite acceptable, I suppose.”
The one who responded to Kristia was a maid standing to her far left. She wore spectacles and possessed long, sky-blue hair. Despite her maid’s uniform, she was also draped in a white overcoat, giving her the aura less of a servant and more of a sagacious scholar.
Upon hearing the maid’s words, Kristia nodded. She then shifted her gaze to the remaining individuals, asking, “Since Olivia has given her opinion, what about the rest of you?”
“I have no objections either.”
“Then we shall observe his future conduct.”
“Hmm, I think it was a very good speech.”
As Kristia’s voice faded, the other maids nodded in unison, their gazes turning towards Lisbeth. Seeing this, Kristia smiled. “Very good then. Since the newcomer has introduced himself, shouldn’t you all do the same?”
“Very well, I shall begin.”
The first to step forward was Airenst, who had just teased Lisbeth. She elegantly tossed her beautiful, silvery-white long hair, then slowly spoke, a refined smile gracing her lips.
“My name is Airenst, Airenst Carrot. I am one of the Demon Lord’s personal maids. My responsibilities as a personal maid include healing and potion-making. I look forward to working with you.”
‘Oh? It’s Airenst Carrot, of all people. I was wondering why her name sounded so familiar. It really is her.’
‘Hmm? Little Sword, you know her?’
No sooner had Airenst finished speaking than Clotilde’s voice echoed in Lisbeth’s mind. The next second, her voice suddenly became more animated.
‘Alex, have you forgotten? Airenst was a renowned grand physician of the demon race in our era! Her potions and healing magic were world-famous, and she was also known for her beauty.’
‘So it’s her. I never expected this pervert to become such an extraordinary person. But more importantly, I never saw her in the Demon Lord’s Castle two hundred years later. Was she no longer there at that time?’
‘That, I wouldn’t know. But Alex, don’t just stand there talking to me. It wouldn’t look good if you stayed silent now.’
‘Ah, you’re right.’
Only after Clotilde’s reminder did Lisbeth realize he hadn’t uttered a word yet. Before he could even prepare to speak, Hilda, standing behind him, gently patted his back, seemingly urging him to say something quickly.
“What’s wrong? Was there an issue with my self-introduction? You haven’t said a word for so long.”
“Ah, no, not at all. It’s just that you’re so beautiful; I was momentarily mesmerized.”
“Oh? That truly pleases me. Given your attitude earlier, I thought you disliked me.”
Gazing at Airenst, who still wore a smile, Lisbeth had to admit she was indeed beautiful, so his earlier compliment wasn’t entirely false. However, the thought of her being a pervert who had seduced at least two dozen maids made Lisbeth sigh inwardly.
Even so, he knew he absolutely couldn’t voice these thoughts aloud. He merely offered a small smile in response. “How could that be? I was just a little startled earlier. So, please take care of me in the future.”
“Indeed, please take care of me too.”
