Unexpected Visit and a Risky Transformation

Chapter 251,440 words12 min read

[Xia: Mo Ge, my place is really messy, so let’s not bother.]
[Xia: How about I treat you to dinner tonight instead?]

She hadn’t even finished swallowing the instant noodles in her mouth when Bai Xia frantically snatched up her phone to reply. Her slender fingers flew across the screen, hoping her deskmate would abandon the idea of coming to her home.

However, in her haste and flurry, she accidentally bumped the instant noodle bowl on the coffee table. The hot noodle soup spilled instantly onto her nightgown.

“Hiss—hot, hot, hot!”

Bai Xia scrambled to her feet, but a large greasy stain had already bloomed across her pink nightgown. Even the floor was splattered and dirtied by the spilled soup.

“Ah… my dress, how unlucky.”

She quickly pulled out a few tissues to wipe the stain from her body. However, with her deskmate’s impending visit, she couldn’t bother to clean the floor just yet, instead grabbing her phone to continue replying to his messages.

[Xia: Mo Ge, perhaps it’s better if you don’t come after all.]

[Mo: It’s fine, I haven’t been there anyway. Consider it my first time visiting.]

Ah! How could this be!

The moment she saw the message, Bai Xia’s face immediately fell into a disgruntled pout, like a displeased kitten. A sense of dread crept into her heart.

Why wasn’t her deskmate following her lead?

It wasn’t that she didn’t welcome Mo Bai as a guest. The main issue was that her rented room was truly too small; the only two small rooms were the kitchen and the bathroom.

In the combined living room and bedroom space, the single bed and sofa already occupied most of it. And now—the spilled instant noodle soup was still spreading across the floor.

How could she possibly entertain anyone in a place like this?

To ask a young master like him for a favor, only to then make him come to such a shabby place afterward—Bai Xia felt utterly apologetic just thinking about it.

Especially since he was her deskmate who had helped her countless times.

No, no… Mo Bai absolutely couldn’t come to her home.

This wasn’t just because she felt a pang of guilt. More importantly, she was a little afraid of being alone with a boy in such a small apartment.

What if Mo Bai tried something?

What if, just what if, Mo Bai tried to tease her?

[Mo: What, after helping you with such a huge favor, you won’t even let me sit at your place for a bit?]

“…”

How was she supposed to reply to that?

Bai Xia stared at the new message on her phone screen. Her tiny canine tooth unconsciously bit her lower lip, and her slender fingers hovered over the keyboard for a long time. Ultimately, she could only reply with a helpless, “Fine.”

Since things have come to this, she might as well clean up the noodle soup first.

With a helpless sigh, Bai Xia sent her location to Mo Bai. She then fetched a rag from the tiny, few-square-meter balcony and meticulously scrubbed the stains from the floor. It wasn’t long before Mo Bai’s call came through to her phone.

“Huh? That fast?”

Bai Xia quickly picked up her phone and pressed the answer button. She then heard Mo Bai’s rather displeased voice from the other end.

“Come out and get me, I’m lost.”

“Ah, oh, oh, got it, I’ll be right there.”

On second thought, it made sense. After all, this was an old urban village; its intricate alleys often confused even delivery drivers, let alone Mo Bai, who was visiting for the first time.

Bai Xia, after hanging up, hastily wiped her hands. She then shed her soiled nightgown and transformed back into her male form, donning a loose shirt and shorts. Grabbing her keys, she rushed out the door.

As for why she transformed into a boy, it was primarily because Bai Xia didn’t want Mo Bai to get any “improper” ideas about her. Though her deskmate genuinely seemed uninterested in women, Bai Xia was well aware of her own captivating beauty.

Who could resist a white-haired, ruby-red-eyed beauty who could be both a young girl and a loli?

Hmm, it wasn’t that she didn’t trust her good deskmate, it was more about… what was it called? Oh right! Prevention is better than cure! Just preventing potential trouble!

Hurrying downstairs and following the shared location between herself and Mo Bai, Bai Xia quickly navigated through the streets and alleys to the village entrance. There, she saw Mo Bai, who was waiting for her.

“Mo Bai, over here.”

Bai Xia waved at Mo Bai, then jogged over to him. “I already told you my place is a mess. How about we just find somewhere to eat, Mo Bai?”

“What time is it that you’re already thinking about dinner? A little dirt and mess is nothing, I’m mostly curious.”

Mo Bai shrugged indifferently. His gaze fell upon the young man before him, though for some reason, a hint of displeasure flickered in his eyes.

Is this kid… doing this on purpose?

“Let’s just go to your place for a bit first.”

While he was indeed somewhat displeased with the urban village’s environment, Mo Bai didn’t truly care about such things. All he wanted right now was some alone time with Bai Xia.

After all, in the past, there was nothing special; he had simply regarded Bai Xia as a friend. But now, having learned of his deskmate’s hidden side, Mo Bai had suddenly developed an unprecedented interest in his “convenient” deskmate.

“Ah… alright, fine.”

Feeling a little uncomfortable under Mo Bai’s gaze, Bai Xia could only quickly lead the way. Behind her, she then heard Mo Bai utter a rather displeased remark.

“Change back later. I don’t like you like this.”

“But Mo Bai… isn’t this how I usually am?”

Bai Xia feigned confusion as she asked. In truth, she hoped to make Mo Bai abandon the idea of her changing back. To this, Mo Bai simply retorted casually, “It’s more pleasing to the eye if you change back,” effectively silencing Bai Xia.

Since her deskmate had put it so bluntly, Bai Xia could only purse her lips. After leading Mo Bai into the rented apartment, she reluctantly transformed back into her original appearance before him.

After all, he had saved her life, and helped her out numerous times.

Her snow-white hair cascaded down like a waterfall. Her ruby-red eyes shimmered faintly in the dimly lit rented room.

Unfortunately, her clothes couldn’t transform with her body. The already loose shirt’s collar slipped, revealing a segment of her fair shoulder. Her pants, meanwhile, simply fell to the floor.

Thankfully, the shirt’s elongated hem covered most of her legs, leaving only two slender, pale calves and adorable feet exposed.

“Th-this… is this alright now?”

Bai Xia, her face flushed, tugged at the long hem of her shirt. Her snow-white hair cascaded over her shoulders as she lowered her head, making her hesitant to face Mo Bai at that moment.

Barefoot on the old floor, her ten rounded toes unconsciously curled.

Indeed, facing her deskmate in a girl’s body was still far too embarrassing.

Though she wasn’t entirely sure why Mo Bai wanted her to change back, a strange sense of foreboding, mingled with her embarrassment, arose within Bai Xia. It was as if the person standing before her wasn’t her deskmate, Mo Bai, but a dangerous predator, and she, the targeted prey.

Watching the white-haired girl’s shy and uneasy demeanor, Mo Bai felt a little confused. He didn’t understand what Bai Xia was trying to do. Her clothes and pants didn’t fit; why was she standing awkwardly in front of him instead of changing?

Though puzzled, seeing Bai Xia like this, he could probably guess that the girl’s little head was once again filled with all sorts of strange thoughts.

A shy Bai Xia? What would happen if he teased her a little?

Mo Bai suddenly grew curious. If he were to pretend to “make a move,” what interesting reaction would this girl, who was revealing her true self to him for the first time, have?

With this thought in mind, Mo Bai deliberately took a step forward. He stopped directly in front of Bai Xia. As expected, Bai Xia recoiled, like a startled deer.

“M-Mo Bai…”

“Good girl.”
