An Huaixu happened to lean in, and the live stream scene instantly changed, showing two oddly angled, heavily filtered, V-shaped faces with maxed-out beauty settings.
Shi Yun was looking intently when he was caught off guard by a person with grape-sized eyes, cherry-pink lips, a perky little nose, and snow-white skin.
He immediately recoiled in fright.
Immediately after, the slightly flamboyant man in pink in the screen made movements that synchronized with his own, but because the effect couldn’t fully recognize his face, it alternately swelled and shrank.
He blinked, and the first thing he did after coming to his senses was to tell the equally flamboyant An Huaixu with utmost sincerity:
“You look really good like this! If you were a woman, you’d definitely be our village beauty!”
After he finished speaking, he even gave a definite thumbs-up.
An Huaixu helplessly flipped the camera back: “You keep it.”
Shi Yun seemed to think he didn’t believe him, and explained righteously:
“My eyesight is definitely fine. If you come and be our village beauty, Fugui Village’s Predestined Night Market would definitely be number one, you… hey, Teacher An, don’t leave! I’m serious, consider it, I can even recommend you to the village chief!”
Almost a few seconds after Shi Yun finished speaking, An Huaixu’s figure appeared on the field.
Only Shi Yun was left muttering with some regret: “He really looks good. If his personality were also like Teacher An’s, then being a wife wouldn’t be bad either…”
He shyly chuckled twice.
Just as he was about to savor the thought again, he caught a glimpse with his eyes and sharply noticed Lucky and Fang Yuan standing in a corner, arguing about something over two little chicks.
Seeing the situation escalate, he reacted almost instinctively with a start, grabbing his phone and rushing over.
Lucky saw Shi Yun, craned his neck, eyes red, and asked him to be fair: “Teacher, the chick was clearly found by me, I should be the chick’s daddy!”
Fang Yuan was unconvinced, and said with childish bluntness: “You don’t even have parents, you don’t understand how to be a daddy at all. It should be me!”
Shi Yun hadn’t expected Fang Yuan to say such a thing. He frowned and snapped: “Fang Yuan!”
Fang Yuan spoke without thinking, and being reprimanded, he finally realized something was wrong, and his temper instantly subsided a bit in fright.
Lucky, however, couldn’t take it. As if a raw nerve had been touched, he quickly reached out and grabbed at Fang Yuan, furious: “You’re talking nonsense! I’m not a child without parents, you—”
An Huaixu had walked over at some point. He picked up Lucky with one hand and caught Fang Yuan, who saw something was wrong and was trying to run away, with the other.
Lucky’s feet dangled in the air, flailing wildly: “Let me go, let me go!”
An Huaixu gently pinched Fang Yuan’s ear and said coldly: “Apologize.”
Fang Yuan was afraid of him, trembling nervously and unable to speak a complete sentence.
Shi Yun took Lucky.
Lucky was very aggrieved, hugging Shi Yun and crying silently.
Shi Yun feigned anger, and just as he was about to comfort him, another ‘Meeeh!’ sound came from not far away!
He turned to look, and his pupils dilated in shock—Wei Tian Si and Li Zhi Qing were in conflict, each pulling one leg of the little lamb Yuanyuan, at a standstill.
Shi Yun hastily picked up Lucky and ran over in a few steps.
“What’s wrong, what’s wrong!”
The lamb’s head fur was a bit messy, with a pink hairpin clipped on the left and a blue hairpin on the right.
The hairpins were tugging at a clump of its fur, clearly the source of its distressed bleating.
Wei Tian Si: “Yuanyuan likes pink, so it should wear a pink hairpin!”
Li Zhi Qing: “Who said so? Yuanyuan definitely likes blue!”
“Pink!”
“Blue!”
Shi Yun covered his face: “Is there a possibility that Yuanyuan doesn’t like wearing hairpins?”
The two children said in unison: “Impossible!”
Shi Yun took a deep breath, and thought of a way to stop the scene:
“How about this, let’s play ‘Eagle Catching Chickens.’ You all take turns being the eagle, whoever catches the most chickens, Yuanyuan will wear that color hairpin…”
He pulled over Fang Yuan and Lucky: “You two will be each other’s daddy… cough, sorry, be the chickens.”
Weizi Yu thought it was a good idea, and pulling the children, diverted their attention: “Eagle Catching Chickens, I haven’t played that in a long time, let me try too!”
Pin Chi raised his hand: “I’ll be the referee.”
Jiang Song rescued the lamb, put it back in its nest, and agreed: “This kind of game should be more fun with more people, count me in!”
Qi Guang got excited, took off his glasses, and started preparing: “Alright, a good warm-up before the task.
Today’s first place, our senior class is taking it!”
Qiao Yu was a bit conflicted: “If we join, it won’t be cheating, right?”
Weizi Yu lifted Wei Tian Si onto his shoulders, and also picked up Li Zhi Qing: “Put them on me, I like both pink and blue.”
A short while later, he looked up, adorned with a head full of hairpins, laughing loudly at Qi Guang, fanning the flames: “Hmph, Teacher Qi, why do you always covet our middle class’s first place!”
Jiang Song wiped Lucky’s nose, took him and Fang Yuan to secure the chicks, and seeing them inexplicably fired up, he interjected: “It feels wrong if we don’t try to win one too.”
Shi Yun: “These kids are mischievous. Sometimes they can cause a ruckus seven or eight times a day, but you just get used to it.”
After he finished speaking, he sidled over to An Huaixu, explaining that Lucky’s father died in an accident while twisting rebar at a construction site, and his mother, heartbroken, soon followed.
Lucky’s grandfather, who raised him, probably heard the story from others.”
He vaguely guessed the scene at the time: “Is Lucky on his own now?”
Shi Yun sighed: “The village is helping him find his family outside.
He’s stubborn and doesn’t want to live with me, so I can only ask a neighbor to look after him.”
Just then, Jiang Song waved and called out: “Xiao Shi, come be the mother hen!”
“I’m coming!” Shi Yun casually handed the ‘brick’ that was bothering his hand to An Huaixu, then ran into the crowd, stood at the front of the long line, and enthusiastically spread his arms.
An Huaixu flipped the phone around, facing a group of wailing bullet comments:
[What do I do? First time watching a live stream and feeling forgotten by the streamer.]
[Poor Lucky baby.]
[It feels like many children in the village have tough backgrounds, it’s heartbreaking. Is there any way to donate things or money?]
[Yay, the streamer changed to An Huaixu! (whistles) Unfamiliar Brother!]
An Huaixu: “…”
He swiftly banned the black fan who called him ‘Unfamiliar Brother’ with a permanent mute package.
[Heh heh, An Huaixu, you wouldn’t believe it, I have over ten alt accounts!]
An Huaixu frowned and warned them again: “Don’t post nonsense, he doesn’t understand.”
After saying that, he stopped looking at his phone and sat in the shade, closing his eyes to rest while listening to the cheerful noises from the courtyard.
Shi Yun, after playing for a while, suddenly remembered the live stream. He quickly ran over, hung the phone around his neck, and then hurried off again.
The initially cheerful bullet comments soon stopped laughing:
[Help, someone stop Teacher Shi, I’m going to faint from the live stream!]
[Death to the damned, who allowed you to make me a mother hen!]
About ten minutes later, the children were too engrossed in playing and never settled on a winner.
But thankfully, Lucky and Fang Yuan reconciled, and Wei Tian Si and Li Zhi Qing forgot about the hairpins and went off to play something else, hand in hand.
Director Zhang announced today’s task.
“Village Chief Shan of Fugui Village initiated a request through Hope Group—recently, mountain litter has increased due to the wind, and the village is in its fruit harvest season, facing a labor shortage.
Hope Group is urgently needed to help Fugui Village clean up the mountain litter.
Each class will form a team and gather at the kindergarten at 4:30 PM. Ranking will be based on the weight of collected trash. Now, the village chief is waiting for you at the foot of the mountain!”
The children had been circling the tricycles for a long time, itching to get on. Hearing this, they all swarmed onto the vehicles.
Weizi Yu carried two children and placed them in the back, urging: “Quick, quick, time waits for no one!”
Qi Guang and Qiao Yu were no less eager.
However, in just a few seconds, An Huaixu had already started his vehicle and, pulling a group of children, stopped in front of Shi Yun.
Shi Yun was stunned.
Under Jiang Song’s urging, he hastily called Director Zhang to get in the vehicle.
Weizi Yu shouted: “Hey, you two, that’s not fair!”
His only answer was the children’s joyful cries of ‘Wuhu!’
Tree shadows swept past from behind, and a gentle breeze brushed the faces of every child in the vehicle.
Under the care of Director Zhang and Shi Yun, the children sat neatly squatting on both sides.
Fang Yuan felt like something was missing ever since getting in the car.
He shook his little head, looked around twice, didn’t see Lucky, and then realized, urgently saying: “Teacher, Lucky is missing!”
Shi Yun was holding a still somewhat sleepy An Shuqi: “It’s okay, he’s up front.”
In the driver’s seat, An Huaixu’s legs securely held Lucky.
Lucky’s eyes, looking around, were sparkling.
An Huaixu was in a good mood. He curved his lips, and uncharacteristically initiated: “When there’s a chance, I’ll let you drive.”
Lucky nodded excitedly repeatedly.
With the tricycles, they quickly reached the foot of the mountain.
At the foot of the mountain sat a man wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts, and cloth shoes.
The man’s skin was deeply tanned, his age seemed to be only in his forties or fifties, but his hair was already white, and a deep wrinkle was etched between his eyebrows.
His mouth was set very low, and his downturned, triangular eyes squinted towards the distance, making him appear humorless and extremely strict.
He heard the sound, looked up, and stood to offer his hand to An Huaixu: “Hello, I am the village chief of Fugui Village. My surname is Shan. You can just call me Uncle Shan.”
An Huaixu shook his hand, saying respectfully: “Hello, Uncle Shan, I am the junior class teacher, An Huaixu.”
The village chief’s brows relaxed a bit: “I’ve heard your name before; you’re even handsomer in person than on TV.”
“You flatter me.”
Director Zhang slowly got off the vehicle with Shi Yun’s help.
The village chief glanced at him, instantly frowning in disapproval: “You said your leg wasn’t well, why are you bothering with this? Isn’t it enough with me here?”
Director Zhang: “The mountain terrain is complex, and I’m afraid there will be too many people for you to handle.”
He pulled the village chief aside and quietly asked: “How’s the orchard? Can we… in these two days?”
“Almost.” The village chief sighed: “Don’t mention that. We’ll talk in detail later. Hey, that’s also you guys…”
Before he could finish, a small head suddenly popped out from behind the green vehicle; it was Dan Ze.
Dan Ze excitedly shouted: “Daddy, look at our car, isn’t it cool!”
The village chief’s face darkened: “You troublesome brat, sit properly!”
His imposing presence and single shout instantly startled a group of restless children.
Shi Yun and An Huaixu stood together.
Jiang Song coughed twice, forcefully squeezed between them, and casually hooked his arm around Shi Yun’s shoulder.
