Chapter 27 : Fenrir IV

There was some commotion, but I was able to achieve my goal of exploring the interior of the church.

As I was idly wandering the corridors of the church,

I stopped with a frown.

A faint, sweet smell wafted through the boarded-up windows.

If my nose wasn’t mistaken, it was the scent of humans.

“Humans?”

Cheonhwi seemed to have caught the scent too.

He poked his head out of the shadow, sniffing.

As I looked down at him, he quickly hid again.

Is it because we’re partially connected?

Even without being told, he was instinctively using a vampire’s enhanced senses.

Though it seemed Cheonhwi wasn’t consciously aware of it.

I cautiously peeked through the gaps between the wooden planks.

The holes were too small for sunlight to enter, but I could see the outside world.

The world was bright, signaling morning.

As I watched the sunlight glinting off the asphalt road, I saw two humans walking towards the church.

There were only two of them.

No matter how much I looked around, I couldn’t find any other humans.

Why were they approaching the church?

They weren’t carrying backpacks.

Their weapons were just a single pistol tucked in at the waist and a long sword slung over the back.

Just in case, I headed down to the first floor of the church.

If these humans had any sense, they wouldn’t stir up a clan of over fifty vampires with just the two of them, but it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared.

There was a bit of commotion, but my goal of exploring the interior of the church was sufficiently achieved.

As I aimlessly wandered the corridors of the church,

I frowned and stopped in my tracks.

A faint, sweet smell wafted through the boarded-up windows.

If my nose wasn’t mistaken, it was the scent of humans.

“Humans?”

Cheonhwi seemed to have caught the scent too.

He poked his head out of the shadow, sniffing.

Upon reaching the first floor of the church, I saw Mary standing with a Bible in her hand.

It was quite ironic for a vampire priest to hold a Bible, but it suited her well.

“Charlotte?”

“There are humans outside.”

“Oh, I know. You saw them too.”

Mary smiled brightly, not showing any signs of tension.

Could they be personally acquainted?

I crossed my arms and leaned on the corridor railing.

“Who are they?”

“They are the ones who provide us with blood.”

Blood?

Tilting my head, I noticed the long row of red potions behind Mary.

There were far too many for one person to have farmed alone.

Could it be?

At that moment, there was a quiet knock on the church door.

Knock knock-

Mary, as if waiting for that knock, smiled and ran out.

Her running figure was quite delicate.

She had said she was previously male, but was it a lie?

“Welcome!”

The visitors were, of course, the two humans I had seen earlier.

Both had faint smiles, suggesting they had good personalities.

I activated the Mystic Eye, just in case.

[Lamia Daddy]

Level: 15

Species: Human

Health: 100%

Mana: 100%

Emotional state: Calm

[Mapo-dong Fishing King]

Level: 16

Species: Human

Health: 100%

Mana: 100%

Emotional state: Calm

Both of them had perfectly calm status windows.

They were chatting at the door, then followed Mary’s lead and stepped inside the church.

Despite entering the vampires’ lair, their emotional state remained unchanged.

Naturally, they arrived at the wide shelf where the red potions were placed.

In front of it, there was a large bowl to collect blood and a small dagger.

Were those two humans feeding fifty vampires?

I watched them with my chin resting on my hand.

The two hadn’t noticed me yet.

“Oh my, you gathered a lot today…”

“Aren’t we going to faint from anemia?”

Mapo-dong Fishing King and Lamia Daddy joked with a hint of laughter. Mary awkwardly smiled and bowed her head.

“Please take care of us again today.”

The two humans nodded at her words.

Mapo-dong Fishing King raised the dagger without hesitation and cut his arm.

His slightly grimaced expression showed that the pain was still there.

Blood flowed into the bowl.

After drawing blood for quite a while, Mapo-dong Fishing King, feeling a bit dizzy, shook his head and opened a small potion bottle, pouring it into his mouth.

His health quickly recovered.

He continued to drink potions and draw blood.

When he had emptied twenty potion bottles,

Mapo-dong Fishing King let out a small groan and stepped back.

The large bowl was filled with an incredible amount of blood, hard to believe it came from one person.

Next was Lamia Daddy.

He, too, began drawing blood without hesitation, like Mapo-dong.

He stopped only after using all the remaining potions.

Although they had recovered all their health with the potions, their faces were quite gaunt.

Their status windows didn’t show any issues, but their bodies hadn’t fully recovered.

“Thank you very much!”

Mary bowed her head in gratitude to the two men.

Her large chest moved noticeably with the motion.

Mapo-dong and Lamia Daddy didn’t ask for anything special.

They just nodded with a friendly smile.

After a brief conversation, they turned and left the church.

It’s hard to believe there are such kind people in this world nowadays.

I watched the two men walk away in admiration.

But can that amount of blood really satisfy the thirst of fifty vampires?

I looked at the large bowl of blood and stroked my chin.

Although they had obtained a considerable amount of blood through the sacrifice of the two men, it still seemed insufficient to me.

“Can you feed all the kids with that?”

“It’s not enough…”

Mary sighed as she spoke.

She began transferring the blood from the large bowl into smaller bottles.

“What do you do when it’s not enough?”

Mary hesitated to answer my question.

But with a deep sigh, she finally spoke.

“We go hunting far away.”

“Hunting humans?”

“Yes… We would prefer to trade potions for blood, but it’s been hard to find potions lately.”

“Are those two the only ones helping you?”

“There were more, but they all disappeared.”

“Not everyone who helps is like them, right?”

“That’s right… After all, we are vampires.”

“What about other vampire clans?”

“They sometimes come to help too.”

“It’s surprising how well you get along with those humans.”

“Haha…”

After my conversation with Mary,as the detestable sun set and evening arrived, the church began to bustle with activity.

The distribution of the newly acquired blood had begun.

Mary had divided the blood into small bottles to distribute to the children.

“Thank you!”

“Enjoy your meal.”

“Thank you, Sister!”

“You’re up early today?”

“Mary, sis!”

“Not sis, Sister.”

Mary, surrounded by vampires, began handing out the small bottles.

I watched the scene from the second floor with Hwanggu and Aurel.

After a while, when the small bottles of blood were almost gone,

Mary looked around and tilted her head.

“Huh…?”

“Sister! Vermouth is missing!”

“Is he oversleeping?”

“Did he go out?”

“I’ll drink Vermouth’s share!”

Mary had divided the blood according to the number of vampires in the church.

There were four small bottles left, the same number as the vampires I had turned into my familiars.

Mary, holding the bottles close, came up to the second floor.

Seeing me, she bowed and spoke.

“Charlotte, have you seen Vermouth?”

“Vermouth?”

“Yes, the one who was hanging upside down from the church ceiling yesterday…”

At that moment, the shadow at my feet began to wriggle.

It seemed Vermouth, now my familiar, was trying to reveal himself, but no chance.

I stomped on the shadow with my small, dainty foot.

“I haven’t seen him.”

“Hmm…”

Mary, looking worried, disappeared down the corridor.

She seemed to be heading to Vermouth’s room.

But Vermouth wouldn’t come out just because she looked for him.

Eventually, Mary sighed and returned to the corridor.

“Could he have become independent?”

“Independent? That kid?”

Mary tilted her head at my response.

Her long orange hair swayed gently.

“Is that so…?”

In the end, Mary headed back to the first floor.

She looked worried about what to do with the four glass bottles in her arms.

Ssss-

The shadow kept wriggling.

I bit my lip and stomped on it.

“Stay still!”

Aurel watched me and asked worriedly.

“Charlotte, what are you doing…?”

I stomped on the shadow even harder and answered.

“I’m stomping on the shadow.”

“I want to do it too!”

Hwanggu seemed to find my actions amusing.

With Hwanggu joining in, we stomped on the shadow for a while until Vermouth calmed down.

With the sun setting, it was time to leave.

I headed to the first floor with Hwanggu and Aurel.

“Sister.”

“Oh, Charlotte.”

“We’re leaving.”

“Already…?”

“Yes, we have other things to do.”

After saying our goodbyes, we left the church.

Even then, Vermouth kept wriggling in the shadow.

It seemed he still didn’t understand his situation.

I stopped and spat out the children from the shadow.

The giant shadow beast opened its mouth, and five girls poured out.

They all looked soft and warm.

“Ah! Finally out!”

Vermouth and his friends cheered as they stretched their arms.

Of course, I didn’t just let them out.

I intended to educate them about their situation and introduce them to Aurel and Hwanggu.

I crossed my arms and watched the kids squirming in the shadow.

This was my own shadow army.

“Gasp…!”

“Gasp…!”

Aurel and Hwanggu were both surprised.
