“Almost been a few days and she still hasn’t woken up. Doctor, are you sure this is normal?”
Yang Yuan anxiously questioned the physician. It had already been two days since Su Xiaoyou fell unconscious.
The female doctor pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose and gestured for Yang Yuan to calm down.
“Mr. Yang, I understand how you feel, but please trust our professional judgment.”
“And what exactly is your professional judgment?” Yang Yuan pressed.
The doctor did not answer directly. Instead, she pointed at the corner of Su Xiaoyou’s lips, where a thin trail of glistening drool was slowly sliding down.
“Ms. Su’s drool is the judgment.”
No sooner had she spoken than a faint snore came from the bed, followed by Su Xiaoyou’s muffled voice in her sleep.
‘Ah Yuan, do not touch there… that is where I go to the bathroom… it is dirty…’
Yang Yuan’s face instantly turned red. The doctor, meanwhile, wore a knowing, auntie-like smile. Flustered, Yang Yuan quickly escorted her out of the room and shut the door behind her, letting out a long breath.
Back beside the bed, he pinched Su Xiaoyou’s cheek lightly in mock irritation.
‘What kind of dream is this where I am trying to touch a toilet?’
Just then, his stomach growled. Deciding it was time to grab something to eat, Yang Yuan headed downstairs.
As he stepped into the hospital lobby, a familiar figure caught his eye once again.
“Saintess, this outfit—it is the third time I have seen you in it,” Yang Yuan called out from behind, curious to see her reaction.
Sure enough, Li Yu’an jumped in surprise. She turned around, her expression a mix of exasperation and mild annoyance.
“Can you please appear from the front next time? I thought my identity had been blown.”
She complained, then added, “My name is Li Yu’an. It feels weird being called ‘Saintess’ outside of work.”
“Got it, Senior Sister Li Yu’an.”
“By the way, what are you doing here?”
Yang Yuan mentally wondered if she had another mission for him.
Li Yu’an locked eyes with him, her tone firm. “I came to find you. You have not forgotten the favor you promised me, have you?”
Her reminder jogged his memory. He had promised her a favor—but he had not expected her to come collect so soon.
“I remember, but what kind of task could be so impossible for a top-tier hero like you that you need an ordinary guy like me to help?”
Li Yu’an’s expression turned unusually serious. “It is something even I cannot handle. Something extremely urgent.”
Her intensity made Yang Yuan tense up. He glanced around and lowered his voice.
“Wait… are we talking about saving the world?”
“No, not that. Saving the world is not our job.”
Li Yu’an pulled out her phone and showed him the screen.
A vibrant, colorful poster filled the display: “Stellar Magic Girl Themed Event.”
Boldly printed beneath it: “Team of Two – Win a Mysterious Grand Prize.”
Yang Yuan’s eye twitched a few times. He could not help but blurt out, “Is this really something to be this serious about?”
Li Yu’an did not share his skepticism. Her voice grew urgent, almost excited. “This is an officially recognized grand prize. I cannot even imagine what it might be!”
“I only know one other person who shares my interest—and that is you. So I had no choice but to come to you.”
Seeing her so passionate, Yang Yuan was struck by the contrast. The Saintess, usually so composed and dignified in public, was now brimming with childlike eagerness over a themed event. It was absurd, yet somehow touching.
And truthfully, she had helped him when it mattered. Repaying the favor was only right.
“Alright, I will do it.”
Li Yu’an’s face lit up like a spark igniting. “Really? Great! I will pick you up at two this afternoon.”
“This afternoon?” Yang Yuan exclaimed, then remembered Su Xiaoyou in the hospital bed. “I cannot. I have to take care of the patient.”
Seeing her request denied, Li Yu’an’s expression turned desperate. Without a word, she suddenly grabbed both of Yang Yuan’s hands tightly.
“Just one afternoon! I will hire a professional nurse to watch over her!”
Yang Yuan felt the warmth and strength in her grip. He hesitated.
“Maybe, forget it?”
Li Yu’an’s eyes flashed with a hint of madness. Her grip tightened even more, her voice rising.
“Please, Yang Yuan!”
“This prize is right in front of me. I have to consider—what if this is the only chance I will ever get in my life?”
In her eyes burned a fierce, unwavering determination. Yang Yuan had never seen the Saintess like this—so raw, so unguarded. He was completely overwhelmed.
“Fine, but only for one afternoon. Not too long.”
The moment he agreed, Li Yu’an’s expression cleared instantly. The madness vanished as if it had never existed.
She smiled, satisfied, and released his hands. “I will come pick you up this afternoon.”
Yang Yuan rubbed his slightly reddened wrists as he returned to the ward, where the little girl was still muttering strange things in her sleep.
‘At this rate, I should just order takeout.’
Time passed quickly. By the afternoon, a professional female nurse arrived on schedule.
Yang Yuan briefed her on Su Xiaoyou’s condition and stressed that she must call him immediately if the girl woke up.
Then he left the room and headed downstairs, where he got into Li Yu’an’s expensive-looking car.
Sitting in the spacious, luxurious backseat, Yang Yuan glanced around at the elegant interior and could not help but remark, “Do all heroes live like this?”
Li Yu’an kept her eyes on the road, her tone indifferent. “It is borrowed. I have no interest in luxury items.”
The car drove smoothly along the highway. The two exchanged small talk now and then.
Yang Yuan asked about her daily life. Her answers were brief—mostly training, missions, and occasional reports.
“Of course, I also make time to watch my weekly anime and buy the latest merchandise.”
Yang Yuan thought of her role as a top-tier healing hero and asked cautiously, “As a top healing hero, does not that come with a lot of pressure?”
“It is my duty and my chosen path. There is no need to talk about pressure.”
Yang Yuan did not press further. He simply reflected that Li Yu’an’s life probably needed these little moments of joy to balance it out.
And perhaps, the mysterious prize from the “Stellar Magic Girl Themed Event” was a small, long-suppressed desire she finally allowed herself to pursue.
“So, do you have a strategy for today’s event?” Yang Yuan changed the subject.
Li Yu’an’s eyes lit up instantly, as if a switch had been flipped. Her tone became noticeably lighter.
“I have studied past events. These themed activities usually test observation, reaction speed, and knowledge of the series.”
“I have prepared thoroughly. I have memorized the profiles, abilities, and backstories of every main character.”
Listening to her enthusiastic analysis, Yang Yuan realized—this was the Saintess at her most passionate, in her element.
The contrast made her seem far less distant, far more human.
Before long, the car entered a bustling commercial district and pulled up in front of a massive building.
The electronic billboard on the facade displayed the very same “Stellar Magic Girl Themed Event” poster.
Li Yu’an unbuckled her seatbelt, her gaze locked on the entrance with unwavering determination. A confident, almost triumphant smile appeared on her face.
“Victory!” she whispered, then grabbed Yang Yuan’s hand and strode into the building.
Inside, the hall was already packed and buzzing with excitement. The host stood at the center of the stage, microphone in hand.
“Welcome, all fans of Stellar Magic Girl! The event is about to begin!”
“And now, let us welcome the final pair of registered couples!”
The moment the host spoke, Li Yu’an and Yang Yuan froze, their eyes wide with shock.
‘Why, why are we called a couple?’
