Today, Father Kant had mentioned that a potential client who could offer work would be visiting. Eager to make a good impression, Kuroki Nao was helping Tang Wenxu tidy his appearance.
She gently combed his usual messy bangs away from his eyes, then used hair gel to fix the style in place.
“Master, did you know?” Kuroki Nao suddenly asked.
“What?”
“The most charming thing about you is your eyes,” she said, her hand gently caressing Tang Wenxu’s dry hair, as if she were a young girl touching her most beloved teddy bear.
“I hate my eyes,” Tang Wenxu replied without hesitation.
He knew he was weak—so weak that he couldn’t even hate someone who had hurt him. He wanted to be strong, like the male protagonists in Dragon Emperor novels, making decisive and ruthless choices. Yet every time he looked at his own eyes, it was like seeing a fragile glass orb, utterly devoid of the bold and majestic aura of a man.
Through the mirror, he caught sight of Kuroki Nao’s rose-red eyes behind him. In her gaze, he saw the traits he lacked: strength, decisiveness, and the resolve to bear everything. He admired her eyes.
Sometimes, he had the illusion that this younger sister of his was more like an older sister, making him feel an urge to rely on her. But this was just a fleeting impulse. He shook his head, dismissing the weak thought. He was a man, and a man should protect women.
“Nao, today I’ll make sure the client is satisfied so I can find a job and make some big money. Then we’ll find a great place to build a big house.”
“Master, you’re so reliable,” Kuroki Nao replied with a light laugh, covering her mouth.
Tang Wenxu was unaware that even if he appeared as a disheveled beggar, the client would still accept him. Everything was proceeding according to Dals’ plan.
“Done.”
Kuroki Nao had finished arranging Tang Wenxu’s hair. Normally, his hair was a bit disheveled, with bangs covering his eyes, giving him a somewhat gloomy appearance. But now, he looked like a melancholic noble.
“Master, wear this.”
Kuroki Nao retrieved a very expensive-looking, light gray suit from the wardrobe.
“This… isn’t this very expensive?”
“Not really, not really,” Kuroki Nao shook her head. “I made this myself. The boss only charged me for the fabric.”
“How much did it cost?”
“The fabric was only 19 gold coins,” Kuroki Nao thought for a moment before responding.
“19 gold coins isn’t cheap!”
“Of course not. The finished product would cost 300 gold coins.”
“Cursed capitalism,” Tang Wenxu muttered.
“Come on, put it on, my handsome Master,” Kuroki Nao urged, even stepping forward to undress Tang Wenxu herself.
“Don’t rush me, I’ll do it myself.”
Unable to resist Kuroki Nao’s insistence, Tang Wenxu reluctantly accepted her help, putting on the suit. After all, it was for his work.
Tang Wenxu’s usual appearance was far from handsome, but now, with his tidy appearance, he would definitely attract the attention of young ladies on the street. Currently, he was gorgeous.
Most importantly, the light gray suit perfectly complemented his melancholic aura, making him resemble an injured gray creature. It stirred Kuroki Nao’s maternal instincts.
“Nao, how do I look?”
“…” Kuroki Nao didn’t respond; she was captivated by the man before her.
“Nao?” Tang Wenxu raised his voice slightly, bringing Kuroki Nao back to her senses.
“Sorry, Master. You’re incredibly handsome.”
Kuroki Nao’s face was flushed, and her breathing was a bit ragged. She pressed her hand against her chest, feeling a wave of relief. If it weren’t for Tang Wenxu’s voice, she might have done something impulsive. Her hand had already reached into her pocket, searching for her handcuffs… She had narrowly avoided acting on her impulses.
If she had, Tang Wenxu would have surely hated her. And if he did, she would rather die.
Such things should only be done when the Master is unconscious.
However, there were still some things she could do.
“Master, can I hug you?” she asked, her face flushed. But it wasn’t a question, as she had already pulled him into her embrace before he could respond.
Kuroki Nao hugged him tightly, as if trying to merge their bodies into one. Although Kuroki Nao had a pleasant scent, Tang Wenxu felt uncomfortable. He tried to break free but couldn’t push her away. Her slender arms were like iron ropes, tightly binding him.
“Hey, Nao, let go, I can’t breathe.” But his words didn’t reach Kuroki Nao’s ears. Her pupils had lost their luster, as if she had lost consciousness.
Kuroki Nao didn’t know what had come over her. Initially, she only wanted to quietly serve her young master, but now she found herself increasingly drawn to possessing him. Knowing it was wrong only made her more excited.
Since crossing over to this world, she had taken on countless assassination jobs. The more work she did, the colder she felt, like a person falling into an ice pit, alone and chilly. Tang Wenxu was the only fire in that icy pit, the only one who could offer her warmth.
Warmth made Kuroki Nao increasingly unable to resist, sometimes even forgetting her original duty as a maid…
After a long embrace, she finally realized her inappropriate behavior and reluctantly let go of Tang Wenxu.
“Sorry, Master,” she said, lowering her head with a guilty expression, fearing she might displease him.
Tang Wenxu, finally released, felt a bit disoriented. After a long pause, he said, “I’m… going out for a walk.”
“Wai—” Kuroki Nao started to call out to Tang Wenxu, but he had already hurried out.
Kuroki Nao looked at the closed door of the room, feeling a bit resentful as she murmured, “I wasn’t done looking at you yet…”
