Chapter 28: Streamers’ Showdown: A Night of Surprises

Leaning against the wall, she let out a groan.

Lowering her gaze to her abdomen, she saw the bandages wrapped tightly around her, soaked in blood.

Her whole body was drenched in cold sweat, and her mind was foggy.

Ding!

[Oh, you’re still alive? Seriously, you’re one tough girl to kill, huh?]

It was the familiar, sinister voice of a woman she knew all too well.

A mortal enemy she wouldn’t be satisfied with even if she ground her bones to dust.

She gritted her teeth.

“Just wait. I’ll come for you soon. I’ll repay you double for what you’ve done.”

[I don’t feel like waiting, though. You might want to come now. Because…]

[Sohee, run… Don’t come here, no matter what.]

“Y-Youngchan!”

She sprang up from where she sat.

Throwing on her jacket, she bolted outside. Jumping on her motorcycle, she revved the engine.

“I warned you, didn’t I? Not to touch him.”

And with that, the scene reached its dramatic conclusion. Her piercing eyes stared directly ahead with ferocity.

“Cut! That’s a wrap. Perfect, absolutely perfect.”

“Take an hour for lunch! Go eat and rest!”

The morning shoot had ended.

Today, acting felt easier.

No intrusive thoughts, no distractions—she could focus.

Probably because she hadn’t seen that annoying face around.

Honestly, if only he died in the show, it would be so much better.

Then she could stay immersed, no interruptions, no need for retakes.

The shoot would wrap up faster.

At this rate, she might even get off work early today.

“Noona, time for lunch.”

“I’ll eat later. I’m going to catch a quick nap. Wake me up in 30 minutes.”

As soon as she got in the van, she lay down on the seat.

She hadn’t slept in two days.

Seriously, are they trying to kill me?

As the drama neared its finale, her screen time had skyrocketed.

She was so exhausted it felt like she might go insane.

She didn’t want to do anything.

She just wished for five hours of uninterrupted sleep.

That was her one desperate wish.

Ding!

A notification rang.

Who was it?

Disturbing her when she was trying to rest.

Squinting her eyes, she checked her phone.

In the group chat for the production crew, an orange notification dot had appeared.

[Hey, look at this! I took a picture with Yuseong. LOL.]

Her eyebrow twitched the moment she saw the message. Tsk! She clicked her tongue in annoyance.

Juhee, that brat… What’s this? Why did she take a picture with Yuseong? And why is she pressing up so close to him like that?

Seriously, what a scene.

It irritated her.

She hadn’t even seen him in person yet.

Wait, hold on.

Didn’t Yuseong move to Luxury The Hill recently?

Juhee already lived there.

This could be my chance to create a connection!

She immediately called Juhee.

+++

“Oh dear, I’m a little late. Have you been waiting long? I’m so sorry.”

“No, not at all. I just got here too, so I haven’t waited much.”

She was about five minutes late.

Her phone call with Dajang had gone on longer than expected, leading to this.

Today, Gayun had been stuck waiting on her yet again.

Feeling guilty, she bowed deeply in apology.

Gayun appearance was as polished as ever.

Her slightly wavy short hair and slim black dress were impeccably styled.

It was astonishing how all the women he met looked so sophisticated and elegant.

She was so beautiful that he found himself momentarily lost in admiration.

“Don’t I look different today? You’ve only seen me in workout clothes before. I can clean up like this too, you know.”

Gayun was brimming with confidence.

Her self-assuredness didn’t come off as off-putting, though—she was so stunning it was impossible to feel that way.

He decided to agree with her.

“You’re right. You’re really beautiful. You could pass for a celebrity.”

“Oh, stop it. I was joking, but you took it so seriously. You’re making me blush.”

What was this?

He was complimenting her, but she scrunched her face and puffed her cheeks in displeasure.

Was she upset because it was too much?

“Well, thanks for saying it anyway.”

Gayun smiled again.

She was so unpredictable—it was hard to read her emotions.

Women’s thoughts were always a mystery to him.

“Shall we head to the restaurant?”

He asked where she wanted to eat.

After all, he was hosting a politician.

At the very least, it should be somewhere like a nice restaurant.

He made the suggestion, but Gayun shook her head.

“I’m watching my weight, so I’d prefer something light. How about a brunch set at a café?”

“Sure, I’ll follow your lead.”

Do politicians go on diets too?

Well, thinking back to their first meeting, she had looked unusually tired.

Probably because she wasn’t eating enough.

Actually, this worked out for the best.

He had a broadcast later today, so it was better to look as sharp as possible.

Plus, he had snacked on some rice cakes earlier while filming content at home.

A light meal would suffice.

“Are you streaming today?”

“Yes, I’ll be doing a joint broadcast with Joo Ahlin.”

“Wow, Joo Ahlin? She’s the top League of Legends streamer! Yuseong, your growth is incredible.”

“It’s just luck, really.”

Sitting in the café, they ate and chatted about various topics.

Eventually, the conversation shifted to online streaming.

Unexpectedly, Gayun was well-versed in the field.

She knew which streamers were popular and what kinds of content were trending.

Listening to her talk, it seemed like she knew even more about the industry than he did.

“Who’s your favorite streamer, Gayun ?”

It was a simple question, asked out of curiosity.

But Gayun hesitated, unable to answer right away.

Did he ask something inappropriate?

It didn’t seem like it.

After tearing off a small piece of bread and chewing on it, she finally spoke.

“I used to have a few streamers I liked, but it’s embarrassing to mention them now.”

“Hmm, then… do you perhaps like streamers like TangleChangsu?”

“No.”

Of course not.

It’s obvious.

If you’re hesitant to mention a streamer, it’s probably a male cam streamer.

Well, bringing up a male cam streamer who hosts provocative broadcasts in front of another man isn’t exactly easy.

It could come across as inappropriate.

I get it. It’s personal preference, after all.

“Have you finished eating?”

“Yes. Thanks to you, I had a great meal.”

With the meal finished, we stood up.

After settling the bill, we left the café.

I turned my head and waved to Gayun, who was following me.

“Thank you so much for today. I feel like the shoot went smoothly because of you.”

“I had fun as well.”

“Alright then, I’ll be off now. Have a great weekend.”

“Yes, uh… never mind. You too, Yuseong. Take care.”

We exchanged farewells, turned our heads, and went our separate ways.

It seemed like she wanted to say something more at the end but hesitated.

Well, it must not have been important. No need to dwell on it.

Back home, I opened the Twika TV homepage.

I wanted to leave a notice before the broadcast started.

Since this is a collaborative broadcast with Arin, one of the top streamers, the viewers’ expectations seem pretty high.

Streamer Shin Yuseong – Notice

Tonight at 9 PM, I’ll be doing a collaborative broadcast with Arin.

It will be a “Promotion to Platinum, No Stopping Until We Win” stream.

Well, considering we’ll probably win three straight games and wrap up in under two hours, it should be fun.

Please look forward to it.

[Finally, the Twitch Emperor and Twitch King meet]

[What’s “Twitch King”?]

[Yuseong’s nickname. Twitch + King.]

[He’s already got such a nickname? ]

[Lol, they’ll probably win three straight games and finish right away.]

[Both of them are so good, This’ll be pure smurfing content.]

[The most meaningless no-stop content in the world lol]

[Then what will they do with the extra time? Don’t tell me…]

[Don’t tell you what, you lunatic lol]

[He didn’t even attach a photo to the notice.]

The reaction is already explosive.

Do these people just eat and camp on my homepage?

How are they leaving comments so quickly?

The high expectations are making me feel the pressure.

I need to show my best side, but I’m also worried about the broadcast’s pacing.

I should arrive a bit earlier and have a chat with Arin.

Next, it’s time to check my messages. As usual, the same pattern of bizarre requests fills my inbox.

I mean, why would someone invite me to their mom’s 60th birthday party?

What part of that is a “special treat” or “showing filial piety”?

The offer was so absurd it made me laugh, but even though the amount offered was jaw-dropping, it’s still a hard pass.

Next up are the recruitment offers from agencies.

Finally, Titanium TV officially presented their contract terms.

Similarly, several other major MCN companies sent offers as well.

It’s about time I made a decision.

I opened the internet to research the scale of each company, carefully evaluating their proposed conditions.

After filtering them out one by one, I was left with two contenders: Titanium TV, which boasts top-tier streamers, and BigStars TV, a company backed by a major agency with bold investments.

This feels like a major turning point in my life—a decision of critical importance.

I sat in my chair, staring at my desk, and deliberated for a long time.

“This is strange. Is this really the right neighborhood?”

8:30 PM. I entered the address from the email into my phone’s navigation app and followed the arrowed directions.

Considering Arin’s fame, this neighborhood feels way too run-down.

It’s completely different from Sara’s situation. All the houses look shabby.

This is odd.

From what I saw of Arin’s broadcast, it seemed like she lived in an officetel.

Did she just renovate the interior to make it look fancy?

And why isn’t she answering her phone?

She’s definitely up to something.

Top-tier streamers are naturally skilled at creating drama and attracting attention.

Well, it’s better than being boring and dull. I’ll play along for the sake of the broadcast.

“Excuse me? Is anyone home? It’s Shin Yuseong.”

[You have arrived at your destination.]

The navigation app announced my arrival.

I stopped walking and looked up at a small, decrepit prefab house standing in front of me.

The lights are off? Did I come to the wrong place?

No, that can’t be it. The address is correct—I double-checked it multiple times.

“I know you’re in there. Alright, I’m coming in.”

Geez, summer is already over, and now it’s late autumn.

What’s with this spooky atmosphere?

I hate this kind of stuff, but for the sake of the stream, I’ll play along.

Creak!

I opened the door and cautiously peeked inside. Nothing was visible.

I slowly stepped in, my hand groping along the wall behind me.

The light switch should be around here somewhere… Found it.

Click!

“Whoa!”

“Ah! You scared me!”

The fluorescent light flickered on, illuminating the room.

Suddenly, a black figure lunged at me out of nowhere.

Come on, I knew this was going to happen, but I still need to pretend to be surprised, right?

I flinched and let out a startled yelp.

“Ha! That reaction was priceless. Totally worth waiting 30 minutes.”

“Wow, only Arin would greet a guest like this.”

Arin stepped back, grinning mischievously.

Her face was full of playful energy.

She clutched her stomach, laughing, then locked eyes with me.

What now? Is there something on my face?

After staring at me for a while, she shook her head and chuckled.

“Alright, folks! Thanks for waiting! Yuseong is finally here. No need to drag this out—let’s jump straight into the main event…”

Arin sidled up to me, leaning in close.

Earlier, I had taken a picture with Juhee in a similar pose.

Women’s bodies really are soft and warm.

While holding her phone for the stream, Arin’s expression became animated and excited.

Alright, let’s get started on the ranked games and secure that promotion to Platinum.

“…the haunted house exploration begins now.”
