Chapter 29: Hidden Class: Warrior (2)

Cool impacts and effects. More powerful visuals and equipment.

In truth, I said all that with confidence, but I wasn’t sure of myself.

‘How am I supposed to take this on by myself…?’

The health bar is the same, 10 blocks. But…

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain):
(1,000,000 / 1,000,000)]

With my low life level and combat level, taking on this boss mob is impossible. Of course, if I never get hit and just keep attacking, I’ll eventually take it down.

But when is that going to happen?

I clicked my tongue internally and thought about retracting my words, but that would be too embarrassing.

Is there no other way?

‘…But does it have buffs like me?’

Like fire resistance, or regeneration. If it doesn’t have any buffs, there is one way to handle it.

It’s a bit sneaky, but other than that, I didn’t have any other way to defeat it.

“Everyone. Doesn’t the Demon King look like it doesn’t have any buffs?”

  • If it’s bubbling like that, it doesn’t seem to have any?
  • Yeah, it doesn’t look like it!
  • Maybe we should call other people…
  • I feel like Yuwol is about to do something again…
  • 1 million health? LOL LOL LOL LOL Is that really what it has?
  • There’s no buffs. If there were, we’d see the effects unless it’s specifically turned off.
  • Maybe there’s something like phases? It might get buffs after a phase transition.

The viewers seemed to agree with my observation. It was obvious, the boss had the same basic gear as me. Of course, it had much higher combat power, but at least in terms of equipment, it looked normal.

‘So that’s what it means…?’

I wasn’t sure if this was a system error, but I was going to try it anyway. It wasn’t a bug, so there was no harm in testing it out.

I quickly backed away from the Demon King in front of me and ran to the entrance of the Demon Castle.

The viewers, questioning my actions, started posting comments, but there was no time to explain yet.

If the Demon King could come this far…

“Hmm. It looks like the Demon King won’t leave the Demon Castle.”

Unfortunately, my first plan failed. Like a true boss mob, it couldn’t leave a certain range. But there was still the second plan.

I entered the Demon Castle again, and the Demon King, who hadn’t reset yet, charged at me.

“Yikes!”

I was startled and hiccupped, but quickly regained my composure and started running around the Demon Castle.

Since the Demon King had its aggro on me, I’d die if I just stood still. I needed to think while moving.

‘Can I place blocks here? It’s a building, so it probably won’t let me.’

I placed a stone block from my inventory on the ground while running.

“It works…”

The block was placed on the ground.

Special areas like plazas or real estate maps don’t allow block placement unless you have permission. But this hell map was a wild map.

And this map included Hell, and the Demon Castle was just a structure. It wasn’t a special area or anything like that.

So? My next move was clear.

I circled around the Demon Castle and went back outside.

Then, I pulled out a bucket of iron from the corner of my inventory.

“This… lava is also a block, right?”

  • ????
  • Yeah, for now…
  • No way?? LOL LOL LOL LOL
  • Uh oh?
  • So you were just checking if blocks could be placed, huh?
  • Water and lava are both blocks!
  • ???
  • For now, yeah?

“Then… lava can be placed too, right?”

  • LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
  • Wait… technically, yeah?
  • No way LOL LOL LOL LOL
  • The dev team is crying right now.

If I can place lava, that means I can dig through the Demon Castle’s floor too. But that would take way too long.

Besides, if the Demon King falls into a lava ocean, it might just respawn somewhere else.

It’s better to avoid anything unconfirmed, just like when I tested placing stone earlier.

After discussing with the viewers, I jumped straight into the lava ocean and scooped up a bucket of lava, then climbed back up.

Now that I think about it, why is the Demon Castle floating in the air?

Anyway, using dirt and stone, I made my way back into the Demon Castle, where the Demon King—no, Kain’s story— had restarted.

It reset in the time I was gone… I had to wait another 20 minutes.

After sitting through the story sequence once again, I could finally execute my Demon King extermination plan.

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): KRAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!]

A bloodcurdling scream, followed by Kain charging toward me.

But during the cutscene, I had already set things up.

In other words…

I had built a trap.

I dug out a square hole just big enough to trap the Demon King and poured lava into it.

Since the cutscene locked it in place, surrounding it with walls wasn’t difficult either.

And one more thing.

Watching the Demon King burn, I stepped back and climbed a tower of stone I had built.

Then, I pulled out a weapon.

A typical hero would pull out a sword.

But what did I say earlier?

Fighting should always be cheap.

Trap the boss, pour lava on it, and shoot arrows from a safe distance.

Since the Demon King was an NPC that couldn’t break blocks, my plan was flawless.

Honestly, I was a little worried.

What if it broke through the walls or just launched itself out?

But luckily, nothing like that happened.

This was Märchen’s mistake—a game designed with only surface-level difficulty.

It might still break out, but so far, there were no signs of it.

“Burning nicely, huh? The health is dropping fast.”

  • LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
  • Wait… is this actually working?
  • ???? LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
  • There’s no way this is what the devs intended…
  • Smart people don’t suffer—this proves it.
  • They’re gonna patch this, no doubt LOL LOL LOL

Firing arrows from afar, watching the Demon King go up in flames, even the viewers couldn’t believe it.

Meanwhile, other streamers who heard about this were calling for me in server chat.

But I didn’t have time to check yet.

And before I knew it…

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain):
(699,801 / 1,000,000)]

30% of the boss’s health had already evaporated.

This strat was insane.

They’re definitely patching this after what I just did.

The Demon King, now with 300,000 HP lost, suddenly adjusted its stance.

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): REVENGE… I WILL AVENGE MY BETRAYAL!!!!!!!]

With a roar, Phase 2 began.

But unfortunately…

“Oh dear…”

  • LMAO LOL LOL LOL LOL
  • What even is this LOL LOL LOL
  • Raid? Phase? What are those?
  • Ah….
  • Damn…
  • This is just sad LOL LOL LOL

I gazed at the Demon King with a truly pitying expression.

Even after entering Phase 2, it couldn’t escape from the trap I had set.

Its body continued to burn, arrows rained down upon it, and even though it tried to move, the walls I had built held it in place.

“Hmm… I feel like the villain here.”

I mean, lore-wise, this was a resurrected Demon King trying to get revenge.

Then suddenly, I showed up, poured lava on it, and started shooting arrows

Good thing it’s just an NPC…

All I could feel was guilt.

Still, I kept firing arrows until it died.

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): Where did it all go wrong…]

“No idea. I’m a modern person, I don’t know what happened 300 years ago.”

  • Facepalm sound effect
  • Please, Yuwol…
  • T-Wol…
  • Brooooooo LOL LOL LOL
  • Why are you talking back to a dying NPC LOL LOL LOL

After enduring minutes of torture, the Demon King finally fell.

And then, another cutscene started.

Honestly, I just wanted to sit back and enjoy it, but since I needed to stay in character, I decided to speak up.

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): I just… I just wanted to go back…]

“I know. I felt the same way.”

To add to the atmosphere, I pulled a chair from my inventory and sat down.

Good thing I grabbed one before leaving the house.

“On the battlefield, the corpses piled up into mountains. Rivers formed from the blood that flowed from them.”

“And I had to run across those mountains and rivers.”

“I had to survive. I had to live, hoping that if I kept running, a Hero would appear to save me.”

A Hero who could bring peace once again.

“I think… I was waiting for that.”

“But in the end, that Hero never appeared.”

This…

This is exactly when you have to stay in character.

If not now, when?

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): ……]

“The Hero never came… but there was a brave and strong girl.”

“A girl even stronger than me.”

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): ……]

“She wasn’t strong in power, but she had the strongest resolve to end that hell.”

Honestly, I wanted to die from embarrassment right now.

But what else could I do?

I chose this path as a VTuber.

I just had to push through

Tonight, I was definitely going to lose sleep over this.

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): Haha… You suit the title of Hero better than I ever did…]

Wait.

If you say it like that, even I feel a little stunned.

The Demon King is just an NPC.

It’s scripted to say certain things.

My words shouldn’t have changed its dialogue… right?

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): …What is your name? And the girl’s name?]

Something about this felt strange—as if we were actually having a conversation.

That’s when I realized…

This wasn’t just a bug.

The developers were actively changing the dialogue in real time.

They were either watching my stream or invisible nearby.

After a brief pause, I answered the Demon King’s question.

“Yuwol. That girl’s name… is also Yuwol.”

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): …I see.]

I had only meant to stay in character, but the developers were actually paving the way for me in real time.

So, I had to play along.

After a short silence, the Demon King continued.

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): I’m sorry… I should have protected you…]

What was I even supposed to say to that?

Was this a visual novel or something?

Why was I overthinking a scripted NPC dialogue?

Still, I needed to stay in character as Yuwol.

I took a deep breath in, then exhaled.

After a few seconds, I let out a soft smile and spoke.

“It’s okay. It’s all in the past.”

“But next time, in the next life… Please, appear before me.”

“Even if it’s late.”

That was the most emotional line I could manage.

Anything more and I’d probably cringe myself to death

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): ……]

“…Thank you for your hard work, Senpai.”

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): …I’ve only left behind a heavy burden for my successor.]

Oh god, when is this going to end

But I guess I had to see it through.

“If you’re a hero—”

[The Demon King from the Beginning (Kain): …Yes. If you’re a hero…]

Finally, it seemed like this was the end.

Just as I was starting to relax—

[NOTICE: A new dungeon has opened in the Nether! S-Rank Dungeon, Demon King’s Castle! Unlike existing boss dungeons, this dungeon must be cleared by entering the area directly.]

The Demon King’s Castle had officially become a dungeon.

And then—

[YUWOL!]

“…Tsupi.”

As soon as the announcement went up, Tsupi and Eunhye appeared in front of me.

They had probably been invisible nearby the whole time.

[Wow… I didn’t think anyone would actually clear this alone.]

[Exactly. There was never a boss fight like this before… This is definitely getting patched next week.]

“This wasn’t a problem, right? I mean, I kind of cheesed it…”

[Of course not! Finding a creative way to win is a skill too!]

Then that means… I’ll still get the hidden job, right?

I kept asking Eunhye if there were any issues or if this caused any problems.

Thankfully, everything was fine, and instead, they were even giving me a title.

A title was nice, but honestly, I just wanted the Hero job first…

[The Hero Yuwol, who has defeated the Demon King’s Castle! Behold! The God, Eunhye, greets our Hero!]

[The Great Hero Yuwol!]

“Please… stop that…”

My face was burning up.

In the end, Tsupi and Eunhye granted me the hidden Hero class, along with its exclusive weapon, the Holy Sword, and new skills.

But honestly…

I probably wasn’t going to use any of it.

I just needed the job title, not the weapons…

I’d figure out what to do with all this stuff later.

For now, I accepted the rest of the rewards.

[Since you solo-cleared the Demon King, here’s a special title!]

[Hmm… Isn’t this a bit much for our little baby…?]

“What do you mean? It’s cool as hell.”

[Yuwol, can you send a message in the chat?]

“Okay.”

Ignoring Tsupi, who seemed mildly annoyed, I followed Eunhye’s instructions and typed something into the server chat.

[One-Man Army Hero Yuwol:]

Two new titles had been added in front of my name.

Wait… One-Man Army?

‘…I mean, it’s not wrong?’

I did solo a boss meant to be fought by multiple players

As I stared blankly at my new title, Tsupi and Eunhye said they had to leave and quickly vanished.

Now, I was alone in the Demon King’s Castle.

[Rumi: HOLY SHIT, THAT LOOKS SICK!]

[Anna: Ah, please…]

The difference in class between the first-gen members was showing in the chat.

[Black Knight Baekdoolgi: Ohh, Yuwol, do you want to fight me in the arena later?]

Someone save me.

My combat level is way too low for this…

Why was getting a hidden job this exhausting?
