Chapter 29 Part 4: Jin

“Didn’t you ask who you are?” the man said, seeming to be disappointed.

I turned my head slightly at his words and examined his expression.

He had a gloomy expression as if he had died, but he must have sensed my gaze as he waved his hand and greeted me.

“Do you have something to ask us?”

“I have something to ask you for a moment.”

The man said and laid down on the wide lawn.

They looked at each other while lying down.

“What would you like to ask me?”

“Just this and that.”

It was a strange feeling.

Even though it was clearly the first time we had met, I felt a sense of familiarity as if we had known each other for a long time.

Was he feeling the same way?

“Have we met somewhere before?”

“No, we are meeting for the first time.”

It was a question I asked just in case, but as expected, it was clear that this was my first time meeting this man.

I nodded absentmindedly.

He was a man with a mysterious impression.

“My name is Jin.”

“We are…”

“Shine. You are Jeff, right?”

“Yes.”

The man introduced himself as Jin.

He already knew our names.

When I made a suspicious expression, he smiled slightly and waved his hand.

“Oh. He’s not a suspicious person.”

“He really looks suspicious.”

I quietly got up from my seat.

Most people who introduce themselves as not suspicious were obviously suspicious.

Shine also got up from his seat following me, probably because he didn’t like the man named Jin.

I grabbed Shine’s hand and carefully got out of Jin’s sight.

“Hey guys?”

I ignored the voices behind me and ran quickly.

I hid myself behind a large tree and just stuck my head out to check Jin’s movements.

He looked in the direction we disappeared, scratched his head, and got up from his seat.

I didn’t notice because I was sitting down, but he looked quite tall.

“Jeff. You can see everything from outside.”

“Huh?”

“The hat is too big.”

It was just as Shine said.

Jin’s gaze was directed at me.

I hurriedly pulled down my hat. The peaked cap sank down and disappeared.

“I guess I can’t see him anymore?”

“I think so.”

I sighed in relief and watched Jin’s movements with Shine.

He was still looking at the tree where we were hiding.

I think he was caught.

I moved to the next place with Shine.

I lowered my body and moved stealthily to avoid Jin’s gaze.

And so we arrived in front of the fountain.

The large fountain was enough to hide our appearances.

The water flowed coolly.

I looked at the sparkling surface of the water, and without realizing it, I reached out and touched the water.

The cold water felt good.

“Jeff, weren’t you trying to hide?”

I lowered my head urgently at Shine’s words.

Could Jin still be looking at us?

With that thought, I stuck my head out of the fountain and looked at the spot where Jin had been sitting.

“He’s gone…”

“He suddenly disappeared.”

Jin’s figure was nowhere to be found.

He had been sitting on the grass just a moment ago, looking at us, but he had disappeared.

As I looked around for Jin, Shine grabbed my hand and said,

“Let’s go now.”

“Isn’t it fun already?”

“Yeah.”

I got up from my seat, wiping my damp hands on my clothes.

My clothes were in terrible shape after rolling around on the lawn.

It was a shame, but there was nothing I could do.

Since he said he didn’t have homework today anyway, going back to his room to play seemed like a good option.

Jin. Jin.

Where did he disappear to?

As I pondered his name, I remembered the person named Jin that Amy had told me about.

Surely, the leader of the group that Amy belonged to was Jin, right?

Wasn’t it just the same name?

I couldn’t believe that the man with that easygoing aura was the head of a group with such a large building.

And he looked so young.

After leaving the fountain, we walked in the direction where Amy was waiting.

There were large signs and maps all over the wide park, so it seemed like there was no need to worry about getting lost.

We went back the way we had come and headed to the entrance.

There, Amy was sitting on a small wooden bench, tapping on her cell phone.

Shine and I ran to Amy without saying a word.

“Did you have fun?”

I nodded at Amy’s smiling voice.

She looked down at our clothes and let out a small sigh.

“I’ll have to wash up when I get back to my room.”

“I met someone named Jin.”

“What?”

Shine’s sudden words caused Amy to stop moving.

She put her phone in her pocket and was about to stand up, but then looked down at Shine.

“Is that true?”

“Yeah. She introduced herself as Jin.”

Amy stood up with a serious expression.

The phone that had been in her pocket came out again and was in her hand.

She started calling someone.

The faint sound of a ringing tone could be heard.

“Jin? Are you in the park?”

Amy said as she looked around.

I followed her and looked around the entire park, but I couldn’t find Jin.

“No. I told you not to show up in front of the kids.”

She seemed dissatisfied with the fact that Jin had appeared in front of us.

Her distorted face showed that she was very angry at the moment.

“You didn’t ask me anything weird, did you?”

“No, what would the kids know? Don’t keep trying to instill weird ideas in me.”

Amy’s words were fired like a rapid-fire gun a few more times.

After ending the call, she put her phone away with a deep sigh, as if she was still angry.

“Sorry, did it take you long?”

I shook my head at her apology. It didn’t take long.

“Jin is a high-ranking person?”

“Huh?”

“Amy said Jin is the leader.”

“Yes. Technically, he is a high-ranking person.”

“Then this is Jin’s property?”

“It is a building under Jin’s name.”

Amy’s expression softened and she spoke to us gently.

“Jin didn’t ask you anything strange, did he?”

I slowly shook my head. All I was asked was if I liked the park.

“He asked if you liked the park.”

“What did you say?”

“I didn’t say anything.”

“Good. If Jin shows up and asks you anything from now on, you must never answer. Got it?”

I just nodded at Amy’s incomprehensible reaction.

Shine didn’t seem to understand the situation either, but since it was Amy’s words, I nodded for now.

“If Jin shows up, you must come to me unconditionally. Got it?”

“If Amy isn’t here?”

“Then go to Victor.”

“I don’t like Victor.”

“But there’s nothing I can do.”

Amy smiled bitterly and patted Shine on the head as she frowned, saying she didn’t like Victor.

I don’t hate him, but why does she hate Victor?

Anyway, Amy, who had roughly sorted out the situation, took us out of the park.

As I looked at the park with regretful eyes, Amy said,

“Jeff.”

“Yes?”

“Do you want to come again next time?”

“Yes.”

I nodded quickly to Amy.

There were still many things I hadn’t tried.

Judging from the park map, there seemed to be a small rabbit farm.

“If you study hard, I’ll bring you back.”

“Studying…?”

“Yes.”

I didn’t feel like it. I started to weigh the time I would spend studying against the happy time I could spend here.

“Jeff. I’ll help you.”

As I was seriously contemplating, Shine offered a helping hand.

If I studied with Shine, all my problems would be easily solved.

Then I wouldn’t have to sit there for a long time.

“Good!”

I nodded excitedly.

The large witch’s hat on my head fluttered and tapped Amy’s cheek.

After returning to my room, I was dragged into the bathroom with Shine.

The clothes I was wearing were taken off and I was thrown into a large bathtub.

The bath passed in an instant.

The moment Amy’s hand touched me, everything was over.

I came out of the bathroom, drooping, and went to the bed and laid down.

My warm, flushed skin slowly cooled down.

“Jeff. I need to dry my hair.”

“It’ll dry quickly if you do this.”

At Amy’s nagging, I let my hair down and laid it on the pillow. Amy, who was looking at the pillow getting wet, grabbed my body and sat me on her legs.

“Shine. Don’t imitate strange things.”

“Is this strange?”

“Yeah. It’s very strange.”

Shine, who had been letting her hair down on the pillow following me, suddenly got up from her seat. I looked up at Amy with a sad face.

Is this really that strange?

Droplets of water dripping from my long hair fell to the floor.

Amy, who was watching that scene, lifted the hair dryer that was placed next to her and pressed the power button.

Warm air flowed out with a whirring sound.

“If you don’t dry it well, your hair will get damaged.”

“Wouldn’t it be better if you cut it short?”

“Absolutely not.”

“I don’t like it short either.”

My opinion to cut my hair short was easily dismissed by the two people’s objections.

Amy’s soft touch and warm air made me feel sleepy.

“It’s all done.”

I yawned lazily and jumped out of Amy’s arms when she said it was over.

“Come here, Shine.”

Amy held out her hand to Shine, who was still dripping with water, and hugged her, sitting on her lap.

Shine obediently followed Amy’s words.

I stroked the hair that Amy had dried.

The smooth hair that flowed loosely.

It felt like looking at silk, flowing smoothly without a single tangle.

It felt completely different from when Amy wasn’t there.

I stroked my hair with curious eyes.

While waiting for Shine’s turn, I crawled into bed and wrapped myself in the fluffy blanket.

The soft texture of the blanket and the faint fragrant smell.

A smile appeared on my face at the different feeling from the blanket filled with the typical hospital medicine smell.

“Jeff. Are you going to sleep?”

“Yes.”

I answered Amy’s question from outside the blanket and quietly closed my eyes.

Maybe it was because I had a good time running around.

I couldn’t resist the rush of air.
