The Letter

Chapter 29 • 903 words • 8 min read

Su Yan looked at the obviously “spiked” glass of milk and raised his eyes to look at Lu Lin.

“I don’t think… I’m thirsty yet. “

Lu Lin still maintained his smile, his thin lips parting slightly.

“You’re thirsty. “

It wasn’t a question, but a statement.

Lu Lin walked closer, holding the glass of milk, and looked down faintly at him sitting on the edge of the bed.

“Drink it. It’s okay. “

He didn’t know if that “it’s okay” was meant to comfort himself or to reassure Su Yan.

Su Yan was a little helpless.

He tilted his head up, blinking his eyes to act cute, and appropriately showed a well-behaved smile.

Just as Lu Lin thought he was going to refuse again, he took the glass and drank it all in one go.

‘If he wants to spike it, then let him. ’

“Lu Lin, will you really tell me where you’re going?” Su Yan asked, maintaining his posture of looking up at him.

He asked this question because, based on his understanding of Lu Lin, he probably wouldn’t bring him any trouble.

Including the recovered memories about Lu Ang, this person had never cared about Lu Lin before, until just before high school, when he discovered that Lu Lin’s grades and all other aspects were top-notch.

Moreover, Lu Lin’s personality was somewhat inherited from Lu Ang.

On Lu Lin’s coming-of-age ceremony, he had given him a villa.

Including surveillance cameras in every corner of the villa, and maids responsible for monitoring him.

Finding Su Yan again was his first act of rebellion against Lu Ang.

“Mm, I will,” Lu Lin said, casually placing the glass on the bedside table.

Su Yan bit his lip and said no more.

He roughly understood the meaning of this answer and didn’t want to say anything further.

Lu Lin squatted down to meet his gaze.

“It’s okay, don’t worry. “

In front of Su Yan, he always showed the best and most disguised side of his personality.

There was still some undissolved powder at the bottom of the milk glass.

Su Yan’s head was a little dizzy, and the world was spinning before his eyes.

Besides feeling very sleepy, he knew nothing else.

He fell onto the bed.

In a daze, he knew that Lu Lin had carried him back to the center of the bed and tucked in the corners of the quilt.

The very, very last thing was Lu Lin lowering his head to kiss him.

Su Yan’s mouth was slightly open, and he intentionally or unintentionally touched Lu Lin’s tightly closed lips with the tip of his crimson tongue.

The scent of orange-flavored shower gel intertwined in the air.

Lu Lin gently pinched Su Yan’s cheeks, making him open his mouth wider.

Just a gentle pinch left a red mark on his face.

Lu Lin kissed his forehead again and was about to get up and leave when Su Yan gently tugged at the corner of his clothes, murmuring softly.

“Don’t go…”

The voice was extremely quiet, but it hit Lu Lin’s heart, creating a ripple.

After drinking Lu Lin’s glass of milk, Su Yan was like a puddle of water, lying paralyzed on the bed, completely devoid of strength.

If he had known earlier that Lu Lin was going to leave, he would have definitely poured that glass of milk down the toilet to be flushed away.

‘If you’re going to leave, then just leave. Why drug me!’

‘Am I, Su Yan, some kind of unreasonable person?!’

He wouldn’t have stopped him.

Thinking and thinking, Su Yan gradually fell into a vortex of sleepiness.

In truth, Lu Lin couldn’t go far.

Every bone in his body was aching with a piercing pain.

Unfortunately, right now, he could only listen to Lu Ang.

He quietly watched Su Yan’s sleeping face.

Finally, he bent down, leaned in, and kissed away the tears that fell from Su Yan’s eyes.

The next morning.

Su Yan suddenly sat up, gasping for breath.

He couldn’t breathe.

He clutched his chest and looked around.

Nothing in the room had changed.

He had cried for a long time in his dream, and when he woke up, his eyes were still red.

He put on his slippers and walked towards the wardrobe.

All the clothes were still lying quietly inside.

‘He didn’t leave?’

The scent of breakfast wafted in from outside.

It was the sour and spicy noodles from the north side of the city that he had casually mentioned in high school.

Su Yan forced back the pain in his heart and walked over.

“Lu Lin? “

“Where are you?”

The bowl of sour and spicy noodles on the table was still hot.

His nose stung for a moment, and he abruptly opened the door, looking all around the hallway.

There was no sign of him.

He even specifically checked the entire floor, but there was still no trace of Lu Lin.

The moment he closed the door, someone quietly appeared at the end of the hallway.

Lu Lin had been sitting on the third-floor staircase all along, a freshly lit cigarette between his fingers.

But at this moment, he found the smell of the smoke choking, so much so that it brought tears to his eyes.

He just wanted to see Su Yan one more time.

Su Yan stumbled as he closed the door and saw the letter on the shoe cabinet.
