Dense masses of undead creatures suddenly surged down from a colossal, bald mountain. These undead legions were meticulously arranged, marching in tight formations. At the forefront marched skeletal warriors and abhorrent zombies, followed by gargoyles and a swarm of spectral bats. Further back, three nefarious Evil Knights advanced alongside a towering skeletal dragon.

There were nearly a thousand of these undead creatures. The majority consisted of skeletal warriors, spectral bats, and ghouls, with a smaller contingent of Mummy Lords and putrid angels. Having descended from the majestic bald mountain, they surged directly towards Lans’s necropolis.

The undead army poured forth like a relentless tide.

The Undying Legion had launched its assault!

Clad in a black robe thick with corrosive aura, the Black Wuchang, and in a pristine white robe, the White Wuchang, slowly rose from the depths of the canyon floor. Both held shackles and handcuffs, their forms erupting with an immense storm of death.

The bells on their Soul-Reaping Staffs jingled incessantly. Wherever the death storm raged, everything turned to dust and ash.

“Lans, long time no see. Still tinkering with your useless corpse puppets?”

A colossal surge of mental energy swept across the entire area.

The Black and White Wuchangs, along with the Undying Legion, positioned themselves on either side of the necropolis. They left a clear path open in the center.

As the leading Death Knight arrived, mounted on a Nightmare wreathed in purple flames, a solemn and awe-inspiring aura enveloped the entire field. The gathered Undying Legion members all dropped to one knee, a hand placed respectfully over their abdomen, performing a gentleman’s salute.

Behind the Death Knight, a pair of purple wings unfurled and slowly fanned from his back. Blazing gales of energy periodically shot forth from them.

The Death Knight, the perfected evolution of an Evil Knight, embodied a significant transcendence in life’s hierarchy. A black helmet shrouded his head, revealing only two blood-red pupils that, in a blink, emitted sharp crimson beams, fleeting like streaks of lightning. Ink-black, unruly hair danced in the wind, mingling with the fearsome cape draped behind him. A thick, viscous aura of death crackled like electric currents, constantly flickering across his black armor.

“Our commander’s majesty shall prevail, conquering this land for our master and ruling over the darkness!”

Countless undead soldiers prostrated themselves before the Death Knight, their faces etched with solemn reverence.

This was the Death Knight, Ye Shang, the Executioner of the Undying City, serving beneath the Undying Monarch. His terrifying aura instantly struck Lans with a profound sense of dread.

Ye Shang drew a dark, ink-colored iron sword from the void. The immense death energy swirling around him surged frantically into the black blade.

“Submit, or die!” Ye Shang roared at Lans.

Before Lans could even respond, Ye Shang flicked his finger, sending the iron sword hurtling forward. It slammed directly into Lans’s chest, pinning him. The sheer force propelled Lans backward for over a hundred meters, ultimately embedding him deep within the mountain ravine.

Pinned by the iron sword and unable to move, the Lich Lans let out a mournful howl. He finally capitulated to Ye Shang’s fearsome might, obediently bowing his head. “I submit, Lord Ye Shang,” he declared.

Ye Shang did not immediately withdraw the iron sword from Lans’s body. Instead, he used his left hand to draw a contract mark in the dim sky, compelling Lans to surrender a pure imprint from his soul. Only then, disregarding Lans’s agony, did he yank the longsword from his body. “Return to the city!” he commanded, turning away.

With the unequal master-servant contract solidified, Lans had no room for defiance. His rigid body slowly rose from the ground, his steps sluggish as he followed behind the attendant Evil Knights toward the Undying City. Naturally, Moro was also taken along.

Izaloth, who had witnessed everything with perfect clarity, felt her heart swell with unspeakable astonishment.

Though she had heard tales of the Undying Legion, this was her first time witnessing them personally purge surrounding evil forces. An Undying Legion composed entirely of undead beings—what a grand spectacle! Their astonishing combat prowess struck fear into the hearts of all who beheld it!

“Hmm, an interesting young one,” Death Knight Ye Shang remarked, turning his head to Izaloth. “You’ve awakened the Death Knight cultivation system at only Fifth-tier? I wonder if you’d be interested in returning with me to the Undying City to meet the Lord.”

“The Lord of the Undying City?”

“The Condemnation Knight, leader of the three great Undead Monarchs?”

“Indeed. So, young friend, are you interested?”

“I hope I wouldn’t cause you any trouble?” Izaloth naturally wished to go. After all, the Condemnation Knight represented the further evolution of a Death Knight, the ultimate form of an Evil Knight. To receive guidance from such a being would undoubtedly propel her to unimaginable heights. However, polite formalities were unavoidable, especially since a Fifth-tier Evil Knight already possessed considerable intelligence.

“Haha, young friend, you need not harbor any reservations,” Ye Shang chuckled. “I, Death Knight Ye Shang, swear upon my life in the Undead Realm that I will not harm you in the slightest!”

“Since Lord Ye Shang has sworn an Undead Pact, then I shall no longer decline,” Izaloth said with a wry smile.

“Black and White Wuchang, lead the return to the city,” Ye Shang commanded, clapping his hands. He then turned to the three Evil Knights behind him. “You three, follow closely behind the Black and White Wuchangs. I wish to speak with our young friend privately!”

“As you command, Lord Ye Shang!”
