Chapter 3: Again, back to everyday life.

“Are you sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?”

My mother asked in a worried voice, but I slowly shook my head.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

Logically, if we were to examine the changes that happened to me, I would need to go to the hospital.

But, since I wasn’t feeling any pain and my health, which I previously lacked, had returned, I didn’t feel the need to go.

More than anything, I had already lived as someone with a rare disease with no precedent.

“Is that patient me?”

“Yes, professor.”

Although I hadn’t directly suffered harm, I sometimes felt like a lab mouse when doctors looked at me.

Of course, I knew they had no ill intentions. They were simply doing their job and were actually trying to find ways to help me.

But… despite that, I never wanted to feel that way again.

This time, though, my case was different: my gender had changed.

I would surely receive more attention and focus than a rare disease where the muscles of the body contract.

“Alright. But if anything hurts, you have to tell me, okay?”

My mother, understanding that she didn’t want to send me out into the world as a guinea pig, nodded in agreement.

“Okay.”

“…Alright, let’s do that.”

My mother, standing by the door, seemed hesitant to leave and turned back to look at me again.

“If you need anything, call me, okay?”

“Okay.”

“Oh, right.”

My mother approached me, as though she had just remembered something, and grabbed a few strands of my hair.

“Wait.”

Snip—

“Ouch!”

Then, my mother pulled out a silver-colored strand of hair from my head.

Even though I was watching it happen, it felt like an incredibly unreal scene.

“That’s it. Rest now.”

My mother, holding the silver strand of hair, rushed out of the room, almost as if she were being chased by something.

I had a guess as to why she was in such a hurry and where she might use the hair she had taken, but I didn’t feel the need to point it out.

In a single day, my son had turned into a woman.

It was only natural that my mother needed some reasonable explanation for this.

“Wait, hold on…?”

Suddenly, an ominous thought crossed my mind.

The change I had gone through was certainly not minor. Not only had my gender changed, but my entire body had transformed.

With such a significant change, it wouldn’t be strange if all my original genes had disappeared.

“Well… it’ll be fine.”

But what if, just what if, a paternity test came back showing that I wasn’t the biological child?

“Would I be kicked out of the house?”

No, that would be lucky in comparison.

In the worst case, I could end up being punished in connection with the disappearance of “Lee Eugene.”

Since I had no identity right now, I could end up in jail as an unidentified person.

“…I don’t know.”

I stopped my thoughts right there.

Somehow, it will be fine.

If worse comes to worst, I thought I might end up stretching the memories of my family from my mind, squeezing out every tear and sniffle, as I threw myself onto the bed.

“Ugh.”

As I laid my head on the pillow, the silver hair that was unfamiliar to me tickled my nose.

Since my hair had never been this long before, I couldn’t get used to it, and there was no sign of that happening.

“Achoo!”

After a few sneezes, I gave up on trying to sleep.

Come to think of it, I had been unconscious until now. There was no way I was going to fall asleep again.

“Mmm.”

Slowly getting up from the bed, I looked at the mirror hanging on my room’s wall.

‘Can I… do this?’

The concept of walking on two legs was still extremely unfamiliar to me.

But anything new is difficult at first.

One step, one step.

I slowly placed my foot forward.

Before long, I became somewhat accustomed to this body. Moving my legs wasn’t as awkward as it had been in the beginning.

“Heh.”

After a short but intense journey, I finally stood in front of the mirror.

I wanted to check my appearance again, which I hadn’t had a chance to see properly in the chaos earlier.

“…Is this really me?”

I wondered if I was about 160 cm tall?

It didn’t seem much different from the 161 cm I used to be.

‘This angle is new.’

It suddenly hit me that I was standing on two legs.

As I slowly reached out towards the mirror, the silver-haired girl opposite me reached out as well.

Silver hair that reached my shoulders.

Eyebrows also dyed silver.

Mystical eyes with a harmonious blend of red and brown.

I couldn’t help but feel that the only word to describe it was beautiful.

To think I’m looking at myself and calling myself beautiful… I felt a bit self-absorbed, but as I met my red gaze, I couldn’t bring myself to deny it.

“Mm.”

My gaze slowly drifted down below my neck.

The first thing I saw was the chest that rose prominently beneath the loose T-shirt.

Not too big, but not small either—a perfect size.

I wasn’t an expert on women’s bodies, but at least from what I could see, it seemed perfect.

“Really beautiful.”

The face, the figure, and even the mysterious aura that unknowingly radiated from me.

Everything was perfect.

If a goddess truly existed and appeared in the world, I imagined it would feel something like this.

If only my vocabulary were a bit better, I might have used different expressions, but unfortunately, I wasn’t particularly enthusiastic in class.

The fact that even the tutor had given up and was just passing time became a part of my daily life.

“Well, that’s not really important.”

Finishing my thoughts, I slowly shifted my gaze.

If I could walk again, what would I do?

That had always been both my dream and, at the same time, the despair I thought I could never achieve.

But now, that hope had turned into reality, and I had finally gained my freedom.

Back in the day, I simply wanted to run out to the playground like the other kids and play with my peers. But now, as I’ve grown older, I obviously didn’t feel like doing that anymore.

“Still, this is it.”

After reaching a conclusion, what I did, as usual, was sit in front of the computer.

They say only those who have tried can truly understand, and a life spent on a bed and chair for so long wasn’t going to change easily.

The biggest change, at least, was being able to get up from the bed and sit in a chair on my own.

“And… there’s something I really wanted to do.”

After these thoughts, I turned on the computer and accessed the ranking search site.

Turning on the computer and doing this first thing was a kind of ritual and habit for me.

[Prisoner]
Rank 4
Solo Rank

  • Challenger
  • 1,588 LP / 239 wins 172 losses
  • Win rate 58%

I hadn’t played ranked games much these past few days, so my rank had dropped a bit.

“Doesn’t matter.”

If it were the old me, I would have struggled to maintain first place no matter what, but after doing this for 8 years, I had become indifferent to it. Back in the day, keeping first place in solo rank was a matter of pride, but now there was no need for that anymore.

“Shall I play one game?”

It was now midnight.

Since most active pros had finished their scrims and were playing solo rank at this hour, it was prime time for high-level games.

The first thing I saw when logging into my Prisoner account was my friends list.

“Let’s see…”

[3-minute Top Gamer]
In a game.
[SCV KING]
In a game.
[Carry Well]
In a game.

My main position was jungle.

I used to be a mid-laner, but since I was physically lacking compared to others, I had no choice but to switch roles to climb up.

Of course, I didn’t dislike jungle.

Even though I originally was a mid-laner, I found the reading and tactical fighting required in jungle to be quite fun, and I actually did pretty well at it.

Anyway, the reason why my friends list mostly had top laners was also in this context.

Since it was my position, top laners were the ones who often sent friend requests first.

“Everyone’s in a game.”

Of course, that didn’t mean there were only top laners in my friends list.

Though relatively fewer in number, there were friends from other positions too.

For example… a proud Red Cup champion.

[SY Rainbow]
Searching for a game………….

“There’s Rainbow.”

Rainbow.

Recently, a mid-laner who achieved two Red Cup victories and mentioned me specifically in an interview.

I had mixed feelings about that interview, but nonetheless, we could be considered quite good friends.

“Wonder if I’ll meet him if I queue now?”

Rainbow’s current score was 1400.

It was hard to believe he had just come back from an international tournament with such an upward trend.

“Demoted and in just a few days, back to 1400 points? That’s insane, absolutely insane…”

Two Red Cup victories weren’t something just anyone could achieve.

While thinking about this, before I knew it, the queue had popped up.

[Game found!]

[Accept / Decline]

Finally, a game was found, and the usernames of my teammates began to appear one by one.

Very, very familiar usernames.
