Silver Time.
When exposed to an excessive amount of moonlight, it would shatter, unleashing its effect.
As the target of its activation, Chen Zeyu, who only had one transformation potion active, was directly locked into a permanent state by the Silver Time, a fact that required no further explanation.
“This has to be a joke… How is this possible?”
Chen Zeyu looked pleadingly at Evetti, who, in turn, averted her gaze, a frown creasing her brow beneath her silver bangs.
“Silver Time is a very special item.
You might not be able to change back.”
Evetti confessed, her hand behind her back clenching the necklace tightly.
“I’ll never… be able to change back?”
Chen Zeyu grasped her own flowing silver hair, her dark pupils wide with terror.
“Possibly.
I’m sorry.”
Evetti’s expression was one of deep embarrassment; after all, she had imposed the punishment, and now, this unexpected consequence was her responsibility.
“Does an apology… even help?”
Chen Zeyu asked, her voice muffled and sorrowful as she lowered her head.
She was just an ordinary person.
She shouldn’t have to face such a severe punishment merely for a bad review!
This was too much!
What was she going to do now?
Chen Zeyu gritted her teeth, her hands clenching as if ready to strike.
Realizing she had caused significant trouble, Evetti felt compelled to soothe Chen Zeyu.
She bent down and carefully sat beside her, extending the hand that wasn’t holding her wand.
“Hit me!
If it makes you feel any better.”
Chen Zeyu glanced at Evetti, who, misinterpreting it as a glare, stiffened slightly.
However, even if Chen Zeyu were to hit Evetti, the situation would remain unchanged.
Chen Zeyu felt a dampness at the corners of her eyes, and her overwhelming sadness prompted her to ask, “Do witches always act without considering others’ feelings?
I refuse to accept this.”
“No, that’s not it at all!”
Evetti immediately retorted, but the resolve in her eyes quickly shifted to self-reproach.
“I was too rash, too immature in how I handled things.
I’m truly sorry, but my seniors are absolutely not like that.
Please don’t confuse my personal actions with theirs.”
Evetti was insistent on distancing herself from the senior witches, which surprised Chen Zeyu slightly, given how small Evetti looked, no older than twelve or thirteen.
“Alright then, do you know what to do?”
Chen Zeyu wiped the corners of her eyes, brushing away the tears that threatened to fall.
“I’ll try my best… to find a solution.”
Evetti’s tone became uncertain once more, as she lacked absolute confidence in resolving the matter.
“I need you to take responsibility for me, Evetti Flann!”
Chen Zeyu’s voice suddenly boomed, startling Evetti, whose outstretched hand was then grasped by Chen Zeyu.
“Eh!”
“I don’t care!
You have to take responsibility!”
Chen Zeyu blinked resolutely, as if solidifying her demand for Evetti to take charge.
“I will, it’s what a witch should… do.”
Evetti murmured, her gaze involuntarily dropping.
Chen Zeyu was holding her hand so tightly.
‘Oh goodness, this is my first time being held by a human.
I’m so nervous.’
Evetti’s face inexplicably flushed, a sight that piqued Chen Zeyu’s curiosity but didn’t deter her next move.
“Since you’re going to take responsibility, then until I change back, you have to look after me.
I’m relying on you now, understand?”
Chen Zeyu’s utterly shameless declaration left Evetti’s mind blank.
“Rely on you?”
“Uh-huh, otherwise, do you expect me to face life with this body?”
Chen Zeyu straightened her back righteously, despite her lack of a prominent chest.
“Uh… before you became like this, you didn’t seem like the type to live off others.”
Evetti stared at Chen Zeyu in confusion, a comment that made Chen Zeyu raise an eyebrow in indignation.
“How can a word like ‘living off others’ come from your mouth?
Aren’t you a witch?”
“Is there a problem with witches knowing such things?
We live for a long time; it’s normal to be familiar with such terms.”
“Hmph, well, the reason I’m ‘living off others’ is all thanks to you!
If you’d given me a different punishment, would I be like this?”
“You’re right, my apologies.”
Evetti ultimately decided to bear the burden of being ‘lived off.’
Only then did Chen Zeyu release her hand and let out a long sigh.
“Sigh… how am I going to face the days ahead?”
“Are you referring to family and friends?”
Evetti looked at Chen Zeyu’s small, messy room, concluding that in such disarray, there was no indication of any social needs.
“Not those.
I’m just worried about school.”
“Are you a teacher?”
“Where do I look like a teacher?
I’m an off-campus high school student, alright?”
Chen Zeyu glanced at Evetti, then added, “Even though I live a bit sloppily, I still go to school regularly.
I’m worried about the day after tomorrow.”
Chen Zeyu’s new school term started the day after tomorrow.
If she couldn’t find a way to return to class normally, she would likely be advised to withdraw from the private school.
Her family had worked hard to secure her a place there.
“You’re a student?
If time is so pressing, we can only try asking my seniors.”
“Your senior witches have a solution?”
Hope ignited in Chen Zeyu’s eyes.
“They might not be able to solve it, but they are very knowledgeable.”
Evetti said, tapping her shoulder with her wand, then stood up and faced the window.
“Come with me.
Hold my hand like you did just now.”
“How will we get there?
Do I need to prepare anything?”
“I’ll fly you there.
Why would you need to prepare?”
Evetti asked, puzzled.
“Because of the bad review I gave.”
Chen Zeyu poked her fingers together.
“I will explain the responsibility clearly.
I guarantee my seniors won’t target you.”
Evetti extended both hands, like an olive branch offered by the moon.
Chen Zeyu narrowed her eyes, then relaxed her brow and took those hands.
Soon, two silvery shadows departed the small house from the windowsill, soaring through the dazzling lights between skyscrapers, drifting over the bustling, noisy streets.
‘How will the witches solve my problem?’
Chen Zeyu looked up; Evetti was carrying her as they flew.
Ahead, a grey-blue building resembling a magic tower gradually emerged in mid-air, its shimmering, crystal-colored grand gate awaiting their arrival.
