I glanced back.
“Who are you?”
The one pointing at me was a charming blond, blue-eyed boy with exquisitely delicate features.
If not for his rather boyish attire, I might have mistaken him for a girl!
He frowned.
“Hmph, you don’t even recognize me anymore? I am the Prince of Britannia!”
‘I have amnesia; how would I know that?’
‘Besides, why is he acting so tsundere in front of me?’
Out of politeness, I should have exchanged a few pleasantries, but then I paused.
‘Wait, what did he just say?’
“Are you my fiancée?”
“You’ve got the wrong person, haven’t you???”
‘Me, me, me… How could a mere boy like me inexplicably become someone else’s fiancée? This is absolutely dreadful!’
He stated with utmost seriousness.
“Impossible. Aren’t you Fubai? Isn’t there only one Princess in the Frankish Empire? Who else could it be but you? Your Emperor has already agreed to betroth you to me!”
“I’m the one who should be saying ‘impossible’! I don’t believe it. I’m going to find my Emperor and get to the bottom of this!”
‘Uwah…! How could he just randomly assign me a fiancé? I cannot accept this outcome!’
“Fine, go ahead and ask. I’ll wait for you right here!” He retorted, unwilling to back down.
“Don’t bother waiting! I’m not coming back!” I yelled this over my shoulder as I ran off, parting ways unhappily with this baffling fiancé.
The skirt was too long, so I gathered the hem and rushed to the Imperial Palace.
Knights, fully armored, stood guard on both sides of the grand hall’s entrance.
I was a Princess, after all!
Seeing this formidable display, I fearlessly approached them, shouting.
“I want to see my Emperor!”
They exchanged glances, their faces hidden behind helmets that only revealed their eyes.
“Your Royal Highness, please don’t make things difficult for us.”
‘I was wondering how to get rid of these troublesome fellows.’
A gentle voice, tinged with a hint of surprise, drifted from behind me.
“Oh? Isn’t this Princess Fubai?”
“Huh? You’re…” I turned around and was utterly stunned.
Before me stood a young woman in a maid uniform.
I, who barely reached one hundred and fifty centimeters, was dwarfed by her graceful, statuesque height; she had to brace her hands on her silk-clad knees and bend down to speak with me.
Naturally, my gaze was drawn to the rabbit ears perking up from her head!
‘She isn’t human either? Could she be from the Rabbit-Eared Tribe?’
‘Why are there so many people of other races in this Imperial Palace?’
‘Ha, should I be shedding tears of gratitude that my Emperor found me a human fiancé?’
Seeing my bewilderment, she asked, puzzled.
“What’s wrong? I’m Maid Chief Luo Bing’ai’er. Don’t you remember me?”
“Nonsense, of course I recognize you,” I stammered, doing my utmost to maintain a composed expression.
‘Because—I can’t let everyone know I’ve lost my memory, can I?’
In any case, I now knew my name was Fubai, the half-elf loli from before was the Imperial Chancellor, and this rabbit-eared Maid Chief was Luo Bing’ai’er.
As for my inexplicable ‘fiancé’—‘how would I know his name?’
“His Imperial Majesty is very busy. He’s currently receiving envoys from Britannia inside. Do you have something you wish to speak to him about?”
She spoke to me in a soft, coaxing tone, making me feel that this young woman was incredibly gentle—far better than that taciturn Chancellor.
“It’s like this: there’s a boy who looks rather frail, claiming to be my fiancé! So, I want to ask my Emperor to clarify things!”
