The Dread Valkyrie’s Awakening – A Transmigrator’s New Reality

Chapter 3 • 2,781 words • 24 min read

A cacophony of incomprehensible sounds gradually swelled around Liu Mu. He had been sleeping quite soundly, but as the clamor intensified, a wave of irritation finally prompted him to open his eyes. While he usually possessed an amiable disposition and was rarely afflicted by morning grumpiness, he certainly wouldn’t tolerate being tormented simply because he was perceived as easygoing.

Still caught between sleep and wakefulness, Liu Mu realized he wasn’t resting on a soft bed. Instead, a peculiar lightness pervaded his body, as though he were suspended in mid-air. In this disoriented state, he instinctively unfurled the wings sprouting from his lower back, seeking to regain his equilibrium.

Unable to endure the incessant noise any longer, Liu Mu slowly opened his eyes. As expected, the familiar blue ceiling adorned with cloud patterns from his home was nowhere to be seen. Instead, he found himself within a gloomy, foreboding grand hall, the air thick with the metallic tang of blood. ‘This isn’t reality, is it? Then it must be a game,’ Liu Mu mused, a sudden jolt of alertness coursing through him. ‘Could someone be attempting to seize my in-game items? Hmph, to think a player would dare scheme against me—they must be courting death!’ Sensing five figures beneath him, Liu Mu activated [Dread Valkyrie’s Majesty] (A unique skill of the Dread Valkyrie, radiating the Valkyrie’s inherent majesty, inducing a sense of reverence in all hostile entities within range, further amplified by an additional layer of fear due to dark corruption). His gaze swept over them, one by one.

Recognizing the unintelligible babble as the very noise that had roused him, Liu Mu’s gaze sharply swept over the five beings below.

‘Hmm… they don’t appear to be human,’ he mused. ‘While “Tears of the Goddess” boasts a multitude of races, and I haven’t memorized them all, these creatures before me certainly don’t resemble players.’ Regardless, they all seemed to possess horns, so he provisionally dubbed them ‘Mr. Goat-heads.’ Dismissing the four Mr. Goat-heads already prostrate and trembling on the ground, Liu Mu’s attention settled on the singular, towering Mr. Goat-head who, despite his struggle, remained upright, bowing deferentially toward him.

‘Normally, in the game, I’d be able to detect an opponent’s level, but these five beings are completely unreadable,’ Liu Mu thought, a flicker of unease. ‘

And [Dread Valkyrie’s Majesty] certainly doesn’t wield such overwhelming power in the game.’ While scarcely anyone knew he had attained a divine spark, he had experimented with [Dread Valkyrie’s Majesty] during PvP encounters. At best, it would induce a cautious, intimidated state in similarly leveled players—a sensation akin to, ‘Holy cow, this opponent seems incredibly formidable, though I can’t pinpoint why, they just feel powerful.’ It would inhibit them from fighting at full capacity. Yet, he had never once encountered someone who immediately prostrated themselves upon their first meeting.

Observing their unexpectedly friendly demeanor, which hardly suggested an attempt to pilfer his treasures, Liu Mu gradually felt his tension ease. As the pungent, increasingly heavy scent of blood permeated the air, he lifted his head, curiously scanning his surroundings. ‘Ah…’ Liu Mu’s eyes widened. All around him lay figures draped in black robes. The unfamiliar setting, the pervasive, cloying smell of blood, and the dilapidated, eerie cathedral—a peculiar sensation stirred within him. ‘Could this be… could this possibly be… a cutscene for a new dungeon?’

‘This is quite a discovery!’ he thought excitedly. ‘I should snap a photo and post it on the forums to ask around.’

He attempted to access the in-game camera function through his system interface, only to discover, with a jolt of alarm, that his arm wouldn’t lift. Glancing down, Liu Mu saw his body ensnared by flowing, blood-red chains.

‘This… no, it can’t be… Is this not just an ordinary cutscene… but a rare hidden story animation?!’

He recalled forum discussions about exceptionally fortunate players who had stumbled upon incredibly rare hidden animations. These players would be immersed within the animation, rendered immobile, before a formidable final boss would emerge. Defeating this boss would bestow upon them super-rare items, some even rivaling world-tier artifacts!

A thrill of immense anticipation coursing through him, Liu Mu redirected his gaze to the towering Mr. Goat-head who remained standing, eager to savor every moment of this rare, hidden animation. ‘Oh, how utterly exhilarating!’

Liu Mu watched as the Mr. Goat-head suddenly straightened, his eyes locking onto him with an intense, unblinking stare. The creature then spread its arms, letting out excited roars of indecipherable words, before concluding with a burst of arrogant laughter. Liu Mu felt a twinge of disappointment, a faint grumble forming in his mind about the system’s sluggish parsing speed. ‘Watching this cinematic without subtitles is truly frustrating.’

As Mr. Goat-head’s performance grew increasingly fervent, Liu Mu keenly anticipated the unfolding drama. ‘Wow!’ he exclaimed inwardly. ‘Just as I hoped! Mr. Goat-head is spreading his arms, preparing to unleash a massive attack!’ This was truly befitting a new hidden animation, the lifelike special effects utterly magnificent! He watched as the numerous black-robed figures strewn about instantly disintegrated into dust, which then coalesced between Mr. Goat-head’s outstretched hands. ‘Eek… Mr. Goat-head actually ate that thing,’ Liu Mu thought, a slight shiver of revulsion. ‘That’s a bit gross, honestly.’

Whoa!’ Liu Mu gasped. ‘Mr. Goat-head actually transformed! So incredibly cool! This is a major boss I’ve never encountered before!’ Given Mr. Goat-head’s formidable appearance, it clearly signaled a super-rare hidden quest. ‘I wonder what rewards it will grant,’ Liu Mu mused, gazing with immense anticipation at the now mountain-sized Mr. Goat-head before him, his heart swelling with delighted expectation.

As Mr. Goat-head intensified his efforts, channeling more magic into the altar beneath Liu Mu’s feet, Liu Mu felt the blood-red chains encircling his body begin to stir. The altar below and the chains binding him seemed to tug gently at his form.

‘Has the animation ended?’ he wondered. He tentatively channeled a small amount of magic into both the altar and the chains.

With a sharp “crack,” the altar and all the chains instantly fragmented the moment they absorbed his magic.

Gazing at the shattered altar and fragmented blood-shards at his feet, Liu Mu inwardly confirmed:

‘The animation truly is over!’ Now, all that remained was to defeat the boss and seize the fruits of victory! He turned his attention to the now colossal Mr. Goat-head, observing the incredulous expression contorting its massive face, just as a gigantic fist, accompanied by a furious roar, lunged toward Liu Mu.

‘Well, now…’ he mused, ‘that seemed significantly weaker than I’d anticipated.’ The expansive grand hall crumbled under the force of their magic collision, and smoke from the resulting debris billowed across the space. With a mere, gentle lift of his left hand, Liu Mu effortlessly halted Mr. Goat-head’s full-force attack.

[“Seven Deadly Sins Armament – Glutton’s Offering”]

As the words left his lips, a three-meter-long scythe materialized in Liu Mu’s right hand. Four eyeballs sprouted from each side of its blade, while its cutting edge was a row of interlocking sharp teeth. Thick, red veins coiled around the entire scythe, pulsating rhythmically as if alive.

Despite the perplexing weakness of this boss, Liu Mu reasoned it might merely be an illusion.

‘Mr. Goat-head is probably holding back,’ he thought.

‘After all, a boss from such a rare hidden animation wouldn’t simply surrender its treasures. It’s surely testing me, and will unleash some incredibly powerful ultimate move later. I can’t let Mr. Goat-head’s efforts be in vain! I should get serious too!’ With this resolve, Liu Mu swung Glutton’s Offering towards the arm he had just caught with his left hand.

[“Aaaah!!! I Â¥@#Â¥!!!! @#!@#!!! #¥…%#Â¥% DEMON LORD!! #@Â¥@#!#@Â¥@#…”]

Amidst Mr. Goat-head’s heart-wrenching roar and the slowly dissipating smoke, Liu Mu decisively brought Glutton’s Offering slashing down upon the colossal Mr. Goat-head before him. The instant Glutton’s Offering connected, its interlocking fangs distended wide enough to engulf the entirety of the enlarged Mr. Goat-head. With a single, voracious gulp, Mr. Goat-head vanished.

Accompanying the sounds of Glutton’s Offering chewing, Liu Mu faintly heard a weak voice emanating from within it: ‘You vermin…’

“Mama~~ Mama~~” A soft, sweet loli voice drifted from not far away.

By the riverbank sat a white-haired woman, her scant black lingerie doing little to conceal her voluptuous figure. Her breasts were so full they seemed on the verge of spilling, and her long, slender legs boasted an ivory complexion. Her delicate, beautiful feet gently swayed in the clear jade-green water, occasionally kicking up small splashes. Suddenly, hearing the little loli’s cry, she turned her head slightly. Her long white hair, almost touching the ground, swung into a captivating arc with the movement. In that profile, her pure features blended seamlessly with a hint of alluring charm. She pivoted her body, bracing herself with one hand behind her, a helpless expression gracing her exquisite face. Her soft pink lips parted slightly.

“I’ve told you not to call me Mama, you should call me Papa! No… Papa isn’t right either! And don’t run so fast, you’ll trip!” A warm, melodious voice issued from the elegant white-haired woman, and upon her cool, pristine face, a faint maternal worry seemed to momentarily surface.

‘Ah…’ he thought, ‘there seem to be quite a few points of confusion right now. For instance, who is this loli? Why is she calling her Mama? And who exactly is this elegant white-haired woman? The scene transition was far too abrupt.’

In this very moment, Liu Mu had one undeniable certainty: he had transmigrated. For the elegant white-haired woman being addressed as ‘Mama’ was none other than Liu Mu himself. Indeed, Liu Mu, who had neglected to log out before the server maintenance, choosing instead to cradle an egg, had awakened to find himself in a bizarre new world. While he had no idea what this alternate reality entailed, the realization dawned on him: the ‘dead bodies’ from the game’s cutscene he’d witnessed upon waking, and the seemingly formidable yet ultimately feeble final boss devoured by Glutton’s Offering—they had all been living…

‘Ugh… living goat-heads,’ he thought, the revelation nearly making him retch.

As for why Liu Mu had become an elegant woman… well, that was an accident. It wasn’t a case of soul transmigration; rather, this white-haired woman was Liu Mu’s game character, Domu, from “Tears of the Goddess.” (The protagonist would refer to themselves as Domu from now on.)

When Liu Mu first began playing “Tears of the Goddess,” Domu had been a tall, elegant, and handsome Death Knight. The guild ‘Lorolox,’ which Domu had co-founded with Brother Kase within “Tears of the Goddess,” ranked among the top ten guilds in the entire game. Owing to his exceptional gaming prowess and graceful PvP style, Domu was widely known among players as the “Silver Reaper,” and even boasted a dedicated fan club.

However, the “Silver Reaper” identity vanished from the game after one particular world boss battle.

Two years had passed since then in “Tears of the Goddess,” marked by an event that had caused widespread player resentment: The Valkyrie’s Fall. Hislim, one of the strongest heavenly gods—a Valkyrie—had, for reasons unknown, been corrupted by darkness, lost her self-awareness, and plummeted from the Celestial Realm to the Human Realm.

The Goddess’s dark aura had driven all the monsters in the game world into a frenzy, even causing the guards within the main cities to descend into madness, indiscriminately slaughtering players.

Ultimately, Valkyrie Hislim was defeated by the combined forces of the top ten guilds on the entire continent, and Domu was the one who delivered the fatal blow.

However, there were too many players present at the time, and no one noticed anything unusual. Everyone was merely puzzled as to why Valkyrie Hislim, a world boss possessing one of the strongest divine sparks, hadn’t dropped any items. But for Domu, that was merely the beginning of a nightmare. Valkyrie Hislim had dropped only one item: [Corrupted Valkyrie’s Divinity].

Upon seeing the divine spark, Domu used it without a moment’s hesitation. And so, Domu, who had once been a tall, mighty, handsome Death Knight, was transformed into a dark Valkyrie with a large chest, shapely buttocks, long legs, and a slender waist… Yes, the [Corrupted Valkyrie’s Divinity] was an item that surpassed over a hundred world-tier artifacts. It was a unique, special gender-bending class-change item that forcibly altered the player’s class to Dread Valkyrie, granting a unique divine spark! It was one of the strongest divine sparks in “Tears of the Goddess”: [Valkyrie Hislim]. However, the player’s in-game gender would also be forcibly changed to female…

In this incident, players had suffered significant losses with no gains. The official explanation was that all events in “Tears of the Goddess” were for players to explore themselves, and the officials bore no responsibility. The major guilds and ordinary players who suffered losses could only swallow their bitterness.

From then on, the “Silver Reaper” of the Lorolox Guild completely faded from players’ sight. In contrast, a strange figure, always thoroughly encased in armor, appeared.

While Domu’s companions in the Lorolox Guild were curious why Domu had, from that point on, never removed their helmet, Domu’s explanation was that wearing the full set’s helmet increased overall defense, and as a warrior, one should always maintain optimal combat conditions. Meanwhile, everyone sitting in the tavern stared blankly, beer steins in hand, watching Domu pour beer directly onto their helmet.

Even Domu’s best friend, Kase, the guild master of Lorolox, and Na’er, his childhood friend, only knew that Domu had obtained the divinity of a true god. They were unaware that the once-handsome Death Knight in the game had transformed into, well… a busty elegant woman.

For Domu, being class-changed into a Valkyrie or becoming female, while somewhat inconvenient, was not entirely unacceptable, nor was it necessarily terrible. After all, their in-game appearance was that of an extraordinarily beautiful woman, easily considered a dream lover.

What truly made Domu feel it was a nightmare were the consequences that would arise if their female identity were exposed. After all, they were a celebrity with some renown and a considerable fan club.

If everyone found out that they, who were originally male, had suddenly become female and possessed such a prominent chest, they would probably look at them as a pervert! One had to remember that current games were directly bound to a unique identity, so there was no such thing as boys playing female characters or girls playing male characters. Even if they explained that they had become a girl due to using a game item, probably not many people would believe it. Everyone might even suspect if they had secretly undergone gender reassignment surgery or something! The mere thought of such a situation filled Domu with an intense wave of shame!

“Mama~~~ Mama~~~ There’s a stinky bug~~~”

Just as Domu was trying to explain to the readers that they weren’t a pervert but had been transformed by irresistible forces, that soft, sweet loli voice came again. Accompanied by faint rustling sounds, a tiny figure, her bare feet pattering on the grass, was diligently running towards Domu. She had the same beautiful white hair as Domu, which cascaded smoothly over her shoulders. Her skin was as smooth and fair as mutton fat jade, and her ruby-like eyes sparkled brightly. Below her delicate, upturned nose, her soft pink lips were slightly pouted, and a pair of shallow dimples graced her fair cheeks, which were flushed pink from her run.

“Mama~~~ Mama~~~ Stinky bug~~”

The small white-haired loli threw herself into Domu’s embrace, burying her tiny head in Domu’s chest, trembling like a wounded animal.

“Mmm… Dora, don’t be scared, Dad… ah, Mama is here. Mama won’t let Dora be bullied~” To soothe the pitiful little loli in her arms, Domu temporarily set aside the issue of ‘Dora’s’ address, instead embracing the child with a surge of maternal (or paternal?) love. She gently stroked Dora’s soft hair, attempting to quell her fear.

Although… although Domu and Dora bore a striking resemblance, looking like sisters (or mother and daughter), with their hair, eyes, and even facial features seemingly cast from the same mold, this was not unusual… Remember [Eden’s Egg]? Yes… Dora was that very egg that prevented Domu from logging off before maintenance, prompting them to stay online and hatch it!
