A Hero’s Birthday Party

Chapter 30 • 1,153 words • 10 min read

All of this, naturally, did not escape Lena’s notice. Seeing that Alisa seemed to have something to say, she proactively stepped forward and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Well…”

Alisa hesitated, then made up her mind. She looked directly at Lena and asked, “Manager Lena, it’s my birthday today. I was wondering if you’d have time to come to my birthday party tonight?”

After saying this, she struggled to look away. Her heart pounded as she anxiously awaited Lena’s reply.

‘If the manager refused, she…’

“Of course I have time. Happy birthday, Alisa.”

Alisa’s nascent fears vanished instantly. She gazed at Lena, thrilled, as the manager continued:

“However, I have some other friends. I’m not sure if they can join us then? If not, that’s perfectly fine…”

“Of course they can!”

Alisa happily agreed without hesitation. She had already worried that too few friends would attend her birthday party, but now that wouldn’t be an issue.

‘Tonight would be a lively birthday party!’

Seeing Lena agree without a second thought, another employee raised their hand. They chuckled, asking, “Manager! It’s my birthday in a few days too. May I invite you to my birthday dinner?”

‘This was an excellent chance to get closer to Manager Lena!’

Lena, however, did not agree this time. With a regretful expression, she said, “That’s a shame. Once these two days are over, I won’t have any free time.”

Celia and the others’ vacation would end soon. Lena would naturally leave the Witch’s Flower Shop again to resume her duties as an instructor, leaving no time for other birthday parties.

“The manager’s playing favorites!”

“However, I’ll still send a birthday gift.”

“The manager’s the best!”

From looking utterly dejected to beaming with joy, the employee’s face changed at lightning speed. Lena couldn’t help but feel she had recruited a group of truly troublesome staff.

Ding-a-ling-a-ling—

After sitting in the shop for a while, the wind chime by the door gently swayed. New customers stepped inside.

“Welcome!”

The employees bowed in greeting, but the customers merely looked around. One of them asked, “Excuse me, is Lena here?”

Hearing a familiar voice, Lena, who had been engrossed in her work, lifted her head. She saw Isha, resplendent in a pink dress.

Behind Isha stood Aurora and Celia.

“Sister Lena!”

Upon seeing Lena, Isha immediately rushed forward and embraced her.

“What brings you here?” Lena asked, a hint of confusion in her voice.

“The instructor gave us a break! We came to see you!”

“You still have injuries. If you don’t rest properly and keep running around, your condition might worsen.”

A hero’s physique was entirely different from that of an ordinary person. They could easily heal minor injuries with magic, and even reattach severed limbs.

After battling a fourth-tier magical beast yesterday, Aurora had sustained the most severe injuries. However, under treatment, she had largely recovered.

Still, the doctors had advised them to rest thoroughly. It was best to resume training only after a complete recovery.

“We’re almost completely healed! The three of us have much stronger self-healing abilities than other heroes. The doctors who treated us were practically dumbfounded!”

With her hands on her hips, Isha seemed quite proud as she spoke of it.

Lena simply indulged them.

“Alisa.”

Lena beckoned to Alisa, calling her name.

“Ah, yes!”

Alisa obediently walked to her side. Yet, her gaze remained fixed on Isha and her companions.

‘If she wasn’t mistaken, these three girls were heroes, weren’t they?’

‘An ordinary person’s self-healing ability couldn’t possibly be stronger than a hero’s, could it?’

“These are the friends I mentioned earlier,” Lena explained.

“Huh?”

Alisa didn’t immediately grasp her meaning. Then, understanding dawned.

Manager Lena had previously mentioned bringing some friends to her birthday party. These three girls were those very friends.

‘Three heroes?’

She was stunned into silence.

“It’s Alisa’s birthday today. Will you three be attending her party tonight?” Lena asked with a smile, wanting to confirm Celia and her friends’ intentions.

Isha never disappointed her. She immediately raised her right hand, licked her lips, and exclaimed excitedly, “Yes!”

‘She was craving birthday cake.’

Aurora gently nodded, effectively agreeing to go. Seeing that everyone else wanted to attend, Celia then said, “Since everyone’s going, I suppose I’ll go too.”

“Thank you!”

Alisa bowed excitedly in gratitude.

She had initially thought it remarkable enough to simply invite Manager Lena. She never expected three heroes would also attend her birthday party.

By then, even without Dorothy, her mother would surely believe she had befriended heroes. Her mother would no longer worry about her future life.

Filled with joy, she looked at Lena. She didn’t know if Lena had intentionally brought the heroes to the party or if it was coincidental. All she knew was that the manager was her destined Prince Charming, who had rescued her from the quagmire of her life.

From the moment she became an employee at the Witch’s Flower Shop, her life had quietly transformed.

“Now, Sister Lena, come out and play with us! I don’t want to spend too much time here after finally getting a holiday!”

Previously, Isha had loved to fight. But after two months of training, she now only wanted to rest properly.

In past battles, she could rely purely on instinct. Now, she had to use her brain, and while it led to faster, safer victories, it also left her easily exhausted.

“Alright, alright, whatever you say.”

Lena dotingly agreed to Isha’s request.

Afterward, she gave Alisa a few instructions. Then, she left the flower shop with the three girls.

Isha had always wanted to visit Vidona’s Amusement Park. Consequently, they boarded a carriage bound for the park.

The world’s magic-tech was highly advanced. For ordinary people, the utility of magic was quite similar to electricity in Lena’s previous life. For instance, besides carriages, many vehicles on the road were powered by magic.

However, such vehicles were typically private cars. Their owners were either wealthy or noble, and Lena, as a flower shop manager, naturally didn’t possess one.

Vidona’s Amusement Park was no different. Driven by magic, many of its attractions resembled those from Lena’s previous life. In fact, due to the unique properties of magic, there were also many seemingly incredible rides.

There was a significant gap between the roller coaster and its tracks, allowing it to float entirely in the air. Its operation was maintained solely by magic.

Slowly, it climbed to a great height, then plunged sharply downwards. The people on the roller coaster let out astonishing screams.

To ordinary people, even just watching these rides was terrifying.

Isha, walking at the forefront, bit her finger. Then, with a sly grin, she pointed at the roller coaster and spoke to Lena:

“Sister Lena, do you want to experience what it feels like to be a hero? Once we get off, I can support you as you walk.”
