It was precisely one in the morning.

I pushed open the door and windows of my room.

Though aged, they still held a faint air of luxury, adorned with intricate bronze detailing.

A soft creak echoed.

My gaze drifted to the ground below.

Thanks to the amplification of my body’s abilities by the Flow of Intent, the world, which should have been shrouded in chaotic darkness, now lay before my eyes without any obstruction.

This was no dizzying night-vision; for me, the nocturnal scenery, though dim, appeared with every contour sharply defined. It resembled a monochrome ink wash painting—faint yet incredibly clear.

Living on the third floor, with a storage room on the first, placed me approximately ten meters above the ground.

Yet, this height posed no obstacle whatsoever for me.

I casually slipped on a loose black T-shirt from the hanger.

Bending down once more, I tightened the small boots that reached the base of my calves, and then, my mission began.

“Haaah~”

I leaped!

“Ooooh!”

Though this distance was likely effortless for me, such a height still appeared somewhat… unnerving.

After all, my mistaken belief of being a normal human had yet to be perfectly corrected.

‘I am a former Awakened, after all!’

‘…But why did I jump down from here? I could have simply used the stairs!’

Driven by a silly impulse, I finally landed on the ground with a soft thud.

Though I felt no unusual sensations in my body, I still stumbled forward with two small hops due to an unstable center of gravity before regaining my composure.

“Huu… huu.”

I patted my chest.

‘Hmph, that was child’s play.’

Even though my heart was pounding, I couldn’t abandon my pride!

As for why I was stealthily out alone on this dark and windy night… the reason was simple:

To seek out Awakened individuals.

I knew the gathering places for Awakened from my previous life, but those events were still years away.

I had indeed visited those locations before.

However, the places that should have been extraordinary showed no hint of abnormality whatsoever.

What should have been an ordinary cafe remained just that; what should have been an underground passage was nothing but flat ground.

The existence of Awakened individuals was exceedingly rare.

Under government control, they were entirely concealed beneath the facade of the surface world, a mist known as ‘reality.’

Therefore, encountering an Awakened person under normal circumstances was, quite simply, ‘absolutely impossible.’

Even if one did, it was highly probable they would be ‘harmoniously dealt with’ by the Awakened.

In short: ‘harmonized.’

On the surface world, this phenomenon was publicly announced as: [Someone went missing on a certain date and has not returned since…]

‘…Otherwise, where would all the missing people in this world come from?’

In any case, within the Crescent Moon City district, I, armed with my past experiences, knew of several places Awakened individuals frequently favored.

For instance, there was a place just two streets away from my home, a location that appeared utterly unremarkable: my former elementary school.

Crescent Moon Elementary.

‘Why would Awakened come here?’

‘Especially on such a desolate, dark night?’

I wasn’t entirely sure, though I had vaguely heard rumors about ‘high-level demonic creatures easily appearing near Crescent Moon Elementary.’

Despite these rumors, I hadn’t actually encountered a single Awakened individual throughout all these years.

Just as I stood now, alone at the entrance of Crescent Moon Elementary.

‘Another wasted trip….’

Finding neither an Awakened nor any demonic creatures, I was about to head home.

“…Awooo!”

I stared at the seemingly empty scene before me….

‘As if!!!!’

While I hadn’t found ‘an’ Awakened individual…

What exactly was this ‘one-armed, one-legged’ man before me?

Was this a further interpretation of my failure to find ‘a single’ being of that kind?!

‘Was I cursed in this life, destined only to encounter ‘half’ an Awakened?!’

Before me, the one-armed, one-legged man was hopping towards me, his body grotesquely dripping with blood.

“Urghh!!”

A groan, thick with malevolent resentment, ripped through the air.

“Don’t… go…..!”

‘This….’

Even I, with my experience battling four-star demonic creatures, now faced such a weak, half-bodied monstrosity….

It was simply….
