Chapter 30: Defying the Divine

The Water Lord soared above the water’s surface, her wings spread wide as she looked down.

Though her beauty fell slightly short of Seyul’s, she was still an exceptionally stunning figure.

With long white hair and pale skin, she bore a resemblance to Seyul.

True to the title of “Big Sister,” her body was more mature compared to the other Melusines.

She was only slightly taller, but her chest was significantly fuller, with pronounced curves.

And since she, like the other Melusines, wore a highly revealing outfit, her figure stood out even more.

“Kyaaah!”

“Anera-unni!”

The moment she appeared, the other Melusines gasped and called out her name in surprise.

Anera. That was the name of the leader of the Melusines.

“Hey, you crazy brats! Have you lost your damn minds?”

Despite her elegant aura, Anera spat out crude words toward her fellow Melusines.

“Why the hell are you acting all horny and pouncing on another girl?”

” If someone saw this, they’d think our entire race was a bunch of lesbians! “

“As if being an all-female species didn’t already make us the subject of every filthy fantasy out there.”

“N-no, it’s just that… we really like her for some reason…”

“Shut your damn mouths!”

As she raged, the other Melusines instantly shut up.

The viewers watching were just as dumbfounded.

[Wait, who is this?]

[Was the Water Lord always like this?]

Anera’s behavior was completely different from what they knew.

Even when facing enemy players, she always acted gracefully and maintained her dignity.

She was the embodiment of a noble lady.

Yet now, she was cursing like a sailor.

[Don’t tell me this is her real personality?]

[So all that elegance was just an act for the players?]

[This is how she behaves when she’s only around her own kind?!]

[This is a scam!]

The realization that Anera’s noble demeanor had been a façade left the viewers in shock.

“Ugh, fine.”

“Happy now? We’ll leave, alright?!”

Faced with Anera’s fury, the other Melusines had no choice but to back down.

They reluctantly suppressed their excitement over Seyul and dove back into the lake.

Even the Melusine who had guided Seyul here disappeared, albeit with great reluctance.

Now, only Seyul remained.

“What are you doing? Get in the water already!”

Anera barked at Seyul, ordering her to enter the lake.

“I don’t recognize you. Are you a newly born one? We’ll do the initiation later, but for now, go back to your spot.”

“I don’t live in this lake, though.”

“What, are you acting up just because you have a pretty face? Stop talking nonsense and do as I say. Someone important is coming soon.”

Anera dismissed Seyul’s words as a joke and stepped closer.

“If you won’t go in, I’ll throw you in myself. We don’t have time to waste soon, the new Ruby Hero will arrive.”

“That’s me.”

Seyul pointed at herself, making Anera freeze.

Not only was she confused about how Seyul knew someone was coming,

but she also hadn’t recognized Seyul at all.

“What… did you just say?”

Anera’s expression was as if she had been smacked across the back of the head.

“You’re not one of us?”

“Nope. I’m technically still human.”

“…Huh?”

Anera’s eyes trembled violently.

She had just realized she had made a catastrophic mistake.

Internally screaming for a long moment, she barely managed to regain her composure.

“…Welcome, human.”

She attempted to shift her demeanor.

Lowering her gaze, she suddenly radiated the aura of a devout priestess.

“I am Anera, the Water Lord and the leader of the Melusines.”

She introduced herself with a solemn expression, but it was too little, too late.

[Ma’am, please. That won’t work anymore.]

[We already saw everything.]

[Yeah, it’s useless now.]

[Your true colors have been fully exposed.]

[You fake noblewoman!]

The viewers mocked her, and Seyul’s gaze was equally unimpressed.

But Anera stubbornly continued her act.

“This is the sacred domain of the Melusines. You have journeyed far to reach us.”

“You’re not embarrassed saying that after everything?”

“Surely, you have endured countless trials along the way.”

“Oh yeah, the greatest trial was the group lesbian awakening just now.”

“However, even if a human arrives here, we cannot simply accept them without conditions.”

The conversation was going nowhere.

Anera maintained her unshaken composure despite the sarcasm.

Her persistence was admirable, so Seyul decided to let it slide.

“I wasn’t expecting a warm welcome anyway.”

“In that case, I can ease my guilt about neglecting a guest.”

“How did you know I’d be coming here?”

Seyul eyed Anera with suspicion.

He had asked Osman for directions and come straight here, yet the information had traveled too quickly.

Had the rumors spread again, skipping the proper channels?

“Hehe, I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you that.”

Anera’s tone hinted that she was hiding something.

“I can only say that someone is very interested in you.”

“Oh? Is that so?”

Since she was deliberately concealing the truth, Seyul decided to drop it with a single remark.

Normally, he would force the answer out of her, but he was the one here to ask questions.

‘Besides, I have a rough idea who it might be.’

Someone who was interested in him he could already guess.

“So, did this person also tell you why I’m here?”

“I only heard part of it. You came to ask about the whereabouts of the Water God, but I don’t know the exact reason.”

Anera tilted her head slightly.

“If you don’t know the reason, I’m hesitant to reveal anything. Why do you want to meet the Water God?”

“To kill them.”

“Are you insane?”

The moment Seyul casually declared his intent to kill a god, Anera’s true nature slipped out.

She usually maintained a strict image, but his words were so outrageous that she lost control.

“You don’t seem to understand what a god is.”

Anera spoke cautiously, as if addressing a lunatic.

“Human, how strong do you think I am?”

“You’re quite strong.”

For once, Seyul acknowledged his opponent’s strength.

In fact, by his standards, Anera was indeed powerful.

Even in the otherworlds he had visited, beings of her caliber were rare.

“As you said, I take pride in the fact that I am one of the strongest beings in this world. “

“If my opponent were human, I could wipe out an army alone.”

Despite her words, Anera puffed out her chest with pride.

“If they were ordinary soldiers with no proper equipment, I could handle tens of thousands by myself.”

” And that’s without considering the high-ranking monsters’ innate ability to nullify attacks without magic. “

“If I include that ability, I could single-handedly bring down an entire nation.”

She declared herself equal to a nation.

Arrogant as it sounded, no one objected to her claim.

[Well, she’s not wrong.]

[If she’s the Lord of Water, she really could destroy a country.]

[Not just a medieval one, even a modern nation.]

[For real?]

[Was this game always this overpowered?]

[It gets ridiculous in the late stages.]

[If a player is strong enough to fight the Five Lords, they can mow down armies alone.]

[And the Lords are even stronger than that.]

[Not just strong, but their immunity to normal attacks is busted.]

[Even if an entire fleet bombarded them, they wouldn’t take damage.]

[If you think about why kaiju are called kaiju, it makes sense.]

[By kaiju standards, she’s top-tier even among A-ranks.]

The viewers had varying opinions, but they all agreed on one thing Anera was incredibly strong.

However, even a being as powerful as her was nothing compared to a god.

“The power of the gods far surpasses even the Five Lords. “

“It takes all five of us together just to contend with a single god, and the only one who can face one alone is the Demon King.

Not that it would ever happen, but if the gods decided to, they could wipe out not just nations, but all of humanity.”

In the game’s storyline, the gods rarely intervened, so their strength wasn’t often displayed.

However, the Five Gods were among the strongest beings, alongside the final boss, the Demon King.

They weren’t enemies that players were ever meant to fight.

“Killing a god isn’t just impossible it’s foolish.

If you make one god your enemy, you might end up fighting all of them.”

“So, what’s your point?”

“I’m asking you this do you really have the strength to stand against them all?”

Anera’s gaze held a hint of condescension.

“I don’t know.”

Seyul answered confidently.

‘If this were reality, I could take on more than ten of those mid-tier gods and still win.’

But this was inside a game.

Unlike reality, where he was the highest-ranking Melusine, here he was just a human.

Though he compensated with his mastery, his stats were far too low.

“Oh? So you have no confidence, yet you’re recklessly picking a fight with a god? That’s not just foolish—it’s downright pitiful.”

Anera spoke with an air of sympathy.

Her tone was laced with pity, but her actions told a different story.

Was she so baffled that she found it ridiculous?

Or did she see his uncertainty as an opportunity to kill him?

Her eyes brimmed with murderous intent.

“To think you came all this way just to spout such nonsense.”

“How is it nonsense?”

“So you’re saying that declaring you’ll kill an undefeatable god isn’t nonsense?”

Anera’s voice grew irritated.

She wasn’t wrong, but Seyul didn’t nod in agreement.

“Then should I run away?”

Instead, he turned the question back on her.

“Since my opponent is a god, since they’re too powerful to face… should I just flee?”

“Of course. There’s nothing more foolish than willingly fighting a superior enemy.”

“Even if they keep provoking me?”

“It’s unfair, but there’s no choice. Dying in battle against a god is worse.”

Anera kept repeating the same answer run away.

Seyul shook his head.

“Why are you so stubborn?”

“I made a vow on my way here. No matter what happens, I won’t back down.”

This game was the very reason he had made that resolution.

And he wasn’t about to compromise inside the very game that had shaped his resolve.

“Even if my opponent is a god, I’ll break through!”

Anera stared at Seyul’s determined expression in silence before finally speaking.

“Your spirit is admirable. But nothing is more pathetic than confidence without power.

No matter how noble your ideals, without strength, you’ll simply be crushed.”

She was subtly mocking him, implying he was all talk with no ability to back it up.

“I never said I could take on all five gods. But I never said I was weak either.”

Seyul’s voice cut through her words and then he vanished.

“What?!”

In an instant, his presence and figure disappeared entirely.

Anera, momentarily flustered, tried to locate him only to feel a hand wrap around her ankle.

She had let her guard down.

A sudden pull dragged her off balance, and before she could react, she was submerged in water.

“When did you?!”

By the time she came to her senses, Seyul’s face was right in front of hers.

The one she thought had disappeared was now holding her.

“Seems like I have enough strength to catch you like this.”

He smirked as he spoke, still holding her firmly.

It was meant to showcase his power.

But it was a mistake.

He had underestimated both his own beauty and how his actions mirrored what her kin had done earlier.

“M-Magnificent….”

Up close, Seyul’s breathtaking face filled her vision.

Even someone of the same gender would feel their heart race.

Being held in his arms while he spoke of keeping her in his grasp Anera’s face turned a deep shade of red.
