Enhancement Miracles and Deathmatch Prep

Chapter 30986 words9 min read

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Try what?]

[Whisper/PatchNote>DontOrderMe: Enhancing. I’m pretty lucky with it.]

Even so, entrusting my main gear to him?
My hand froze on the mouse.

Even using all my stones, +10’s a stretch.
And they’re *his* stones…
Canceling the enhancement, I opened a trade, putting up my weapon, gear, and remaining stones.

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Not expecting much… just +10…]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Or even +8…]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Weapon’s already +10, but if possible, just +11…]

[Whisper/PatchNote>DontOrderMe: Sure ㅎㅎ]

Hands clasped, I prayed.
I’m not greedy—just +8 on all gear before the stones run out.
+10 would be better.
I’m not crazy enough to aim for +11 with its gear-break risk.
Kneeling on my chair, I figured a devout pose might help.
If PatchNote gets me to +10, I’ll worship him.

PatchNote crouched at the forge and started enhancing.
My heart raced.
Unable to watch the flashing effects, I closed my eyes and ditched my headset.
Blocking sight and sound felt like it’d help.

How long passed?
Peeking through slitted eyes, I saw PatchNote’s trade request.
He’s trading—it worked?
Calming my pounding heart, I checked the gear.
Not +10—+13.

“YAAAAAAAH!”

He’s insane.
Gambling with *my* gear—and succeeding!
This beauty!
Happier than when I got a rare drop.
Screaming, I jumped, shoved all my gold into the trade, and confirmed before he could react.
No teleporting for a while, but who cares?
I’ll grind for more.
+13 gear?
Thrilled, I slammed my desk—ouch, too hard.

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: I’ll be your doormat.]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: I’m great at manual labor.]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Use me as you please.]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Take the gold ㅠ]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Need gold? Hold on, I’ll grind some.]

[Whisper/PatchNote>DontOrderMe: No, take it back ㅠㅠ]

“Wish he’d just give me his bank account…”

Maybe ask for his number to send a gift card?
Weird thought, but he seems nice enough to share.

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Can you give me your number?]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Not weird, just wanna thank you with something.]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Like chicken?]

No instant reply like usual.
Was the number request too much?
He won’t think I’m hitting on him, right?
Scratching my nose, I regretted it.
Gotta check if I can send a gift card without a number.

[Whisper/PatchNote>DontOrderMe: Not chicken.]

[Whisper/PatchNote>DontOrderMe: Something else okay?]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: What?]

Gold-handed PatchNote wants something?
Anything goes, unless it’s selling organs or fishing boat work.

[Whisper/PatchNote>DontOrderMe: Heard from Beta…]

[Whisper/PatchNote>DontOrderMe: She’s planning a guild meetup.]

[Whisper/PatchNote>DontOrderMe: Wanna go?]

Meetup?
Blinking slowly, I tilted my head.
Beta mentioned a meetup?
News to me.

[Guild/DontOrderMe: Beta, you planning a meetup?]

[Guild/Beta: How’d you know? Talked about it when you weren’t around.]

[Guild/Beta: After the guild war, planning a Christmas meetup.]

Tapping my desk, I thought.
A guild meetup…
I’ve gamed forever but never went to one.
No big reason—just lazy.
Online or offline, gamers only talk games.
Why not just chat in-game?

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Gimme your number first.]

[Whisper/PatchNote>DontOrderMe: You coming?]

[Whisper/DontOrderMe>PatchNote: Gotta talk to Beta first.]

After a pause, PatchNote sent his number.
Grabbing my phone, I saved it and synced my contacts.
A stranger’s profile popped up—a cold-looking guy in a black-and-white photo.
An actor?
Handsome.

[Park Jungwoo sent a gift and message.]

[PatchNote: ?]

[PatchNote: SoonToDie?]

[Yeah.]

[PatchNote: Thanks, I’ll enjoy it ㅎㅎ]

Chatting with an in-game friend on messenger felt weird.
Maybe cause I saved him by nickname.

[What name should I save? Used your nickname for now.]

[PatchNote: Han Doyoon.]

I updated the contact.
Checking it, I sent a message.
Realized I didn’t properly thank him amid my excitement.

[Thanks for everything—high enhancements and easy guild war.]

[Tell me what you wanna eat.]

[If you’ve got time, can we do an arena run?]

[Wanna warm up before tomorrow.]

[Han Doyoon: What’s Myth’s GM’s class?]

[Holy Knight.]

PatchNote asked me to wait and logged off—game and chat.
Probably switching to a Holy Knight alt.
How many alts does he have?
Not my place to talk, but he’s a hardcore gamer.

Waiting, I wondered how I’d recognize him.
That thought vanished when a user named “NewUpdate” teleported in.
Obviously PatchNote.

[All/DontOrderMe: lololol Nickname]

[All/NewUpdate: I’ll set up the room.]

[All/DontOrderMe: What gear?]

[All/NewUpdate: Valhalla full set.]

Tanky as hell.
An alt with a Valhalla full set?
I groaned, entering the deathmatch with NewUpdate.
No time limit—one dies, it ends.
Facing his Holy Knight with a big sword—not as big as my Berserker’s—I readied my keyboard.

His main’s a Battle Mage, opposite to Holy Knight, so I should win easily.
After the 10-second countdown, the match began.
I dashed, unleashing combos.
His effects burst, and he countered fast.
Trading blows in seconds, I was stunned.
I knew he was good, but this control on an alt?

“Broken character.”

Great at games, lucky, and rich?
No regret giving away those stones—probably loaded.
Living the solo dream.
His control surprised me, but I won, maintaining enough HP to keep the room.
Main vs. alt difference, probably gear too.
His Valhalla set’s nice, but my +13 *Iskaria* gear, enhanced by him, is better.

[All/NewUpdate: Know Holy Knight’s weakness?]

[All/DontOrderMe: It has one?]

[All/NewUpdate: It’s a balanced tank, so it’s popular, but it’s got a big flaw.]

[All/NewUpdate: Almost bug-level. Reported it ages ago, but no fix.]

[All/NewUpdate: Probably still there. Try attacking as I say.]
