Chapter 30
After their agreement with Staros was made, Lisbeth and her companions concluded their day’s work. Although the exact time for sneaking into Olivia’s laboratory hadn’t been set, Lisbeth trusted that Staros would find her once the opportune moment arrived.
Consequently, Lisbeth didn’t press Staros further, choosing instead to return directly to her dorm room.
‘Ugh… I’m still not used to this new body, it seems. To think such a small amount of work would leave my muscles aching.’
Having worked all day, Lisbeth lay languidly on her bed, rubbing her sore shoulders, unwilling to rise. Yet, shortly after she settled, a young girl’s voice echoed in her mind.
“Honestly, to be tired after so little work, that’s not good, Alex.”
“Hmph, Clotilde, it’s not like you’re doing this heavy work, so of course you wouldn’t feel tired.”
The voice belonged, naturally, to Clotilde, who was currently attached to Lisbeth. Their connection relied on a mental link, rendering Kristia’s eavesdropping stone in the room useless against their conversation. Hearing Lisbeth’s complaint, Clotilde sighed.
“Forget it, none of that matters. But Lisbeth, are you truly going to infiltrate that laboratory just for those useless lumps of fat? You’re already under heavy suspicion, you know. If you’re caught, no excuse will save you.”
Upon hearing Clotilde’s words, Lisbeth’s expression instantly became agitated. Her internal voice grew fierce.
“What do you mean, ‘useless lumps of fat’! Do you have any idea how important these breasts are?!”
“Hey, Alex! You’re not here to play games! Do you understand you’re essentially walking a tightrope right now? One wrong step and you’re finished!”
“Oh dear, of course I know. Clotilde, don’t get so worked up. I was only half-joking~”
‘So the other half was serious…’
Listening to Lisbeth, if Clotilde possessed a physical form, she would undoubtedly be clutching her forehead with one hand and pinching Lisbeth’s ear with the other. However, since Lisbeth admitted she was only half-joking, Clotilde wouldn’t let the implication of her words slip by, slowly asking, “So, Alex, you have your own reasons for wanting to go to that laboratory?”
“That’s right. So, even if it weren’t for these precious breasts, I would still visit Olivia’s laboratory someday.”
At this point, Lisbeth no longer concealed her plan, slowly closing her eyes. “Clotilde, do you remember what happened two hundred years from now, when Kristia was poisoned by a curse?”
“Though I was completely broken when she died, I still had someone investigate the cause of her death. The result stated she was killed by a curse, but upon closer inspection, I discovered it was a very peculiar kind of curse.”
“Firstly, once embedded, that curse cannot be dispelled unless the caster dies. Secondly, the caster must manually activate the embedded curse, and they must be sufficiently close to the cursed person to do so. Unfortunately, on the day Kristia died, the entire hall was packed with people, making it impossible to identify who activated the curse. However, in this era, there must be a way.”
“Eh? Why is that?”
Evidently, what Lisbeth was saying now was utterly inconceivable to Clotilde, her voice trembling noticeably. Hearing Clotilde’s question, Lisbeth nodded and continued, “The last time Kristia chased me into the secret passage, nearly causing an incident, I examined her body.”
“It turns out that the Kristia of this era has already been implanted with that curse, and the Goddess must have sent us to this time for that very reason.”
“Furthermore, this era still possesses a type of stone that became extinct two hundred years later, known as the Demon Eye Stone. Its function is simple: it can discern the essence of any curse magic, making it the bane of such spells. With that stone, as long as the caster stands close enough to Kristia, I can see a white line.”
“That white line connects the caster and the cursed person.”
“Ah! I understand what you mean. So, you’re infiltrating Olivia’s laboratory to see if she has this stone, and once you get it, you’ll constantly monitor the people around Kristia? And once you find the culprit, you just take out that bastard before they activate the curse?”
“Clever!”
Indeed, after following Lisbeth for so long, Clotilde easily grasped Lisbeth’s intentions. A faint smile gracing her lips, Lisbeth continued, “And that’s also why I took the risk to retrieve you from the treasure vault. Without you by my side, I wouldn’t have the confidence to deliver a fatal blow to the one who cast the curse.”
“Moreover, to be able to secretly curse a Demon Lord, that person’s strength must be considerable. Therefore, considering all factors, you are absolutely essential.”
“Hehehe, you’ll make me blush with such praise.”
Upon hearing Lisbeth express such a need for her, Clotilde’s voice suddenly sounded a little shy. At this, Lisbeth’s voice grew serious, and she slowly told Clotilde, “All in all, for Kristia’s sake, and for these precious breasts, infiltrating Olivia’s laboratory is a necessity.”
“Mhm, I understand! Then, good luck, Alex~”
“Mhm, thank you~”
With their battle plan decided, Lisbeth quietly awaited the day Staros would call upon her to infiltrate the laboratory.
