Chapter 31: I’ll work like a Dog!

Lee Seong-min is twenty-nine this year, soon to be in his thirties, and is a member of the marketing team at

Changseong Corporation.

Previously, he worked as an editor for a streamer’s YouTube channel, but feeling disappointed with the pay, he

sought a job with a relatively higher salary and ended up at Changseong Corporation.

His original dream was to join Changseong Planning, which primarily handles advertising planning, but he had no

choice but to enter this company because there were no openings at that time.

As he was going through the monotonous routine of his daily life, feeling somewhat weary of his mundane existence,

he received a secretive proposal from Kim Han-jin, the well-known right-hand man of the CEO, Ryu Seo-ha.

At first, when he was asked, “Are you considering leaving the company?” he felt his heart drop, thinking it was a form

of a recommended resignation. However, he quickly realized from Kim Han-jin’s words that this was not the case.

“No, that’s not the proposal. I heard you used to work as the editor for an internet broadcaster named Loony,” Kim

said.

“Y-Yes, that’s right.”

Though he had never mentioned it since joining the company, he felt a strange chill as the other party seemed to

know his background, as if they had conducted a background check on him.

Hearing the name of a little-known, so-called ‘hako’ streamer, who was almost unknown to the public, coming from a

low and steady voice filled him with fear.

He was just a low-ranking employee, sitting in front of someone he would normally never meet, to the point where

he couldn’t tell if the coffee was going into his nose or his mouth.

He felt as though the elements adding to his tension increased with every passing second, and he tried hard to act nonchalant.

“I saw the videos you made back then; the quality was quite impressive. I heard you never missed a deadline.”

“Th-Thank you for the compliment.”

Unable to take the praise merely as praise, he nodded awkwardly with a forced smile as Kim Han-jin stared at him

indifferently, turning the pages of the resume he held in his hand noisily.

“So, I was wondering, would you consider doing that kind of work again?”

“That kind of work… You mean editing for internet broadcasts?”

“Yes, that’s correct.”

Seong-min was thoroughly taken aback by the unexpected proposal.

He couldn’t understand why someone who could be considered the right-hand man of the owner of Changseong

Corporation was making such a suggestion out of the blue, nor did he understand why they would think he would

simply nod and say, “Yes, I understand.”

Of course, it was true that those times had been more enjoyable than his current monotonous life, but he was not a

fool who would casually give up his current pay, company benefits, and the career he was building.

How many people in modern society would risk leaving a well-known company like Changseong?

He still vividly remembered how his parents had rejoiced and his peers had envied him when he first got hired at

Changseong Corporation.

To ask him to give that up was undoubtedly a tough decision.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t leave Changseong Corporation…”

Thus, even knowing the other person’s position, he bent deeply at the waist and tried to decline. While he wasn’t sure

what repercussions he might face, he couldn’t afford to give up the fruits right before his eyes.

“…It seems there’s a misunderstanding. As I mentioned earlier, I’m not asking you to leave the company.”

“Pardon?”

However, as Kim Han-jin shook his head slightly while observing his demeanor, Seong-min’s eyes widened in surprise.

How was asking him to move to another job different from telling him to leave the company?

At that moment of confusion, Kim Han-jin slid a piece of paper onto the round table.

What was written in large letters on it was none other than the five characters spelling ‘employment contract.’

“If you accept this proposal, you will still be affiliated with Changseong Corporation. I promise that your existing

salary and benefits will remain the same, or even be increased.”

“R-Really?”

The proposal was so sweet it seemed like a devil’s temptation, and Seong-min found himself momentarily losing his

formal tone, responding with a dazed expression.

Would they really add to his existing salary? Staying with Changseong Corporation meant he could still have the

prestige associated with it?

“Please read the contract, and if you like the proposal, sign it here. I assure you it’s not a bad offer.”

“What’s this? A non-disclosure agreement…?”

In the midst of his confusion, his eyes widened even more as he confirmed the second paper that Kim Han-jin handed him.

What kind of work were they expecting him to do that required such an agreement?

When he raised his head slightly to meet the gaze of the man across from him, the other party merely nodded calmly without saying a word.

It was as if he was saying, ‘There are many others who can do this too.’

Feeling a strange sense of defiance, Seong-min stamped his signature without even fully reading the contract.

Upon seeing this, a satisfied smile finally appeared on the secretary’s face.

With the day brightening quickly, he headed to the café at the address his older sister had sent him to meet the editor

she introduced him to.

Unlike the neighborhood café he usually visited, this one was quite spacious and even had private rooms, making it a

suitable place for a quiet conversation.

According to his sister, it was a place often frequented by celebrities.

Creak.

“Oh, Cosmo!”

While enjoying the long-awaited reunion, I cautiously opened my mouth as I noticed the man standing stiffly next to us, his face frozen.

Only then did Seo-ha realize her oversight and smiled while introducing the man next to her.

“Oh, sorry for the delay. This is the editor I wanted to introduce to you, Cosmos.”

“Ah, hello. I’m Lee Seong-min. It’s an honor to meet you.”

As soon as Seo-ha introduced me, the editor bowed deeply, nearly to 90 degrees, making me feel overwhelmed with

his overly polite greeting.

I mean, I’m not some distinguished person, and it’s an honor just to meet. Is he just naturally polite?

“I’m Kang Woo-joo. Right now, I’m active under the nickname Cosmos on Twip.”

Trying to maintain my composure, I extended my hand for a handshake, but he wiped his hands on his clothes

before grasping mine with both hands.

…Doesn’t this feel like I’m running for office? Why is he being so humble? Even though he came to seek work, we’re clearly on equal footing here.

“I think he’s the most skilled person I know among those around me. He previously edited for a streamer named Loony.”

“Wow, so he’s experienced.”

Although I didn’t know much about Loony, the fact that Seo-ha was praising him so highly meant he was probably quite talented.

“I’ve brought some videos I worked on for my portfolio.”

“Oh, let’s watch them while we talk.”

“Please, feel free to do so…”

At my suggestion, the editor set up a tablet on the table and began playing the videos he had prepared with just a few touches.

As the video started, a scene appeared of a woman laughing and playing a game, which flowed through the camera.

  • “Kyaa! What are you saying!”

“Oh….”

There were five videos in total, but even after watching just the first one for about five minutes, I couldn’t help but

exclaim in admiration.

The quality was indeed impressive.

While I’m not particularly knowledgeable about video editing, the most crucial aspects of YouTube videos are

readability and how to highlight the points of interest.

From that perspective, this video was flawless—everything from the subtitles, transitions, sound effects, and visual

effects were seamless.

Wow, someone with this level of skill is way too good for me to work with.

“Um, this might be rude to ask, but… are you really okay working with me?”

Asking this, feeling a little guilty about potentially taking advantage of such talent, I gave him a wry smile. His

expression turned pale.

He looked as if he had received a death sentence.

“Excuse me? D-Does this mean you didn’t like the video?”

“No, not at all… it’s just that you’re so talented. I feel like someone like me, a small-time streamer, shouldn’t be working with you.”

Once I threw a compliment with a bit of self-deprecation, his tense face returned to normal.

And then he blurted out,

“No way! I’ll work like a dog, so please take me with you!”

“W-Wait a moment! Why are you suddenly kneeling…?”

He fell to his knees on the cold floor, begging in desperation.

While I was taken aback by this unexpected behavior, Seo-ha merely nodded in approval, looking somewhat pleased.

No, seriously, who did you bring here?
