The offensive and defensive battle taking place on the thirtieth underground floor had already entered its most intense stage.
Sweat seeped from Ye Yousheng’s forehead, slid down his cheeks to his jaw, then dripped onto the ground.
He had already noticed it back on the twenty-sixth floor.
The deeper he descended, the more humid the air inside the labyrinth became.
Was it because of poor ventilation?
Or was there simply too much moisture in the soil?
Either way, the excessively damp air left Ye Yousheng drenched in sweat.
Of course, it wasn’t only sweat flowing from his body.
There was far more blood.
His own blood and sweat mixed together with the blood of monsters, soaking his entire body.
The ground beneath his feet had turned into unbearably sticky sludge from the sheer amount of blood, and in some places it had even formed pools.
The strange sensation crawling across his skin and the difficulty breathing made Ye Yousheng’s vision and mind sway unsteadily.
Although he had accumulated more than one hundred thousand HP through Life Drain, he was already half-dead at this point.
Every second, two or three new wounds would appear across his body.
Then by the next second, those wounds would nearly heal, only for new attacks to tear him open again.
The pain never stopped for even an instant.
It was practically an endless hell.
And Ye Yousheng endured all of it in silence.
Truthfully, if he wanted to dodge, then with his Godspeed Reaction and Windwalk Art, he could absolutely evade most of the attacks.
But he chose not to.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to.
It was because he couldn’t.
Getting injured was necessary.
He could not allow his body to remain in perfect condition.
The moment his body fully recovered, his original HP would slowly begin recovering as well.
And if that happened, he would no longer be able to maintain his near-death state.
The hundred thousand-plus HP he had absorbed until now would also reset to zero.
If that happened, everything would be over.
That was why he had to stay injured.
Even if the monsters stopped attacking him, he would slash himself to create wounds.
And at this moment, Ye Yousheng truly didn’t have the stamina to waste recklessly.
In order to successfully execute his plan, he needed to preserve part of his strength.
If his fatigue reached its limit and he lost consciousness at the very end, then everything would be finished.
Suddenly, a monster resembling an alien lunged out from beside him.
It was a Doppelganger!
Ye Yousheng grabbed the Doppelganger’s head and twisted it with all his might.
But against a creature whose entire body was bonelessly soft, joint locks and blunt-force attacks were almost useless.
Its arm twisted around from an unnatural angle, and with a hand twice the size of a human’s, it clamped down around Ye Yousheng’s throat.
A suffocating sensation surged through Ye Yousheng’s chest.
He felt as though the world around him had turned into a complete vacuum, devoid of even the slightest trace of air.
Death stood beside him coldly, silently waiting for the moment he would lose consciousness…
But Ye Yousheng refused death.
He used his dagger to slash open his own throat!
Air instantly rushed through his windpipe into his lungs!
Meanwhile, the Doppelganger in his grasp became a shield for him, blocking the Gargoyle’s claws!
The Gargoyle’s claws pierced straight through the Doppelganger’s stomach and also through Ye Yousheng’s stomach.
At that exact moment, he precisely sliced off the hand the Doppelganger was using to grab his head, then escaped from the Gargoyle’s claws and sprinted away without even turning back.
Three.
Two.
One.
Boom!
Creatures like Doppelgangers would self-destruct upon death in order to drag their enemies down with them.
And this time, the rock-hard Gargoyle became its companion on the road to the underworld.
Ye Yousheng was merely blown away by the heated shockwave and did not suffer any direct damage.
After Observation reached Level Four, it became capable of displaying brief descriptions of monsters.
That was how Ye Yousheng was able to rapidly exploit their characteristics and use enemies against enemies.
After removing the severed hand that still stubbornly clung to his throat, Ye Yousheng quickly checked the surrounding situation.
Because Avisotel had joined the battlefield and begun slaughtering indiscriminately, most of the monsters here had already been wiped out.
The Gargoyle and Doppelganger from earlier were two of the final remaining monsters.
Alicia and the Bell Chime Girl beside her had not been caught up in the chaos.
Ye Yousheng had deliberately lured the monsters away from them.
Ideally, no one would notice them at all.
That way, their safety could be guaranteed.
Although Ye Yousheng desperately wanted to carry Alicia into the stairwell, he simply had no spare attention left for it.
Ye Yousheng knew Avisotel would not prioritize killing him.
That monkey viewed him as livestock capable of producing food.
It would definitely want to capture him alive rather than kill him outright.
That was exactly why Ye Yousheng dared to recklessly throw himself into the melee with the other monsters and absorb as much HP as possible.
Only three monsters remained alive.
Once those three monsters were killed, that monkey would come capture him!
He had to move immediately!
Before his throat had even fully healed, Ye Yousheng gripped the hilt of his dagger and activated Windwalk Art, sprinting forward like mad!
The place he was running toward was…
The stairway entrance!
A massive horde of monsters was still gathered there!
Why would he instead “escape” toward the monsters?
Because the HP he had accumulated still wasn’t enough!
To make his plan a reality, Ye Yousheng needed more.
Far more HP!
Enough to survive even after enduring several full-force attacks from Avisotel without dying!
But after only a few steps, Avisotel noticed him!
Yet it did not immediately chase after him.
Instead, it continued slaughtering the monsters that refused to obey its commands.
To it, Ye Yousheng was nothing more than a cooked duck.
And that duck was still sitting inside the pot.
It could scoop him out whenever it pleased.
Thanks to that carelessness, Ye Yousheng successfully escaped.
While slicing open his own left hand to create fresh wounds, he ran desperately toward the stairway entrance without regard for his life!
However, just as he was about to reach it—
He was caught.
With a sinister grin, Avisotel grabbed Ye Yousheng using the third hand attached to its tail.
Ye Yousheng’s vision went black.
And by the time he regained his senses…
He was already surrounded by monsters on all sides.
That bizarre third hand had actually transferred him directly into the monster horde surrounding the stairway entrance!
Although the process differed slightly from his expectations, the result was exactly what he wanted.
Before the monsters could react, he once again drew a half-circle arc with his dagger, fully unleashing his killing intent.
Madness without losing calm.
Slaughter without losing reason.
No one knew that Ye Yousheng’s plan was progressing steadily, step by step.
