The car was once again enveloped in silence.
Xiang Qing nervously awaited her final verdict.
After a few tense seconds, she heard a soft chuckle.
Looking up, her gaze met Gu Wei’s smiling eyes.
The icy facade on Gu Wei’s face had completely melted, replaced by that familiar, aggressive, yet playful smile.
“Xiang Qing, oh, Xiang Qing.”
Gu Wei reached out, lightly brushing the tip of Xiang Qing’s nose with her fingertip.
“With that clever little mouth of yours, it’s a real waste not to be a crosstalk comedian.”
Despite her words, Xiang Qing could discern a noticeable improvement in Gu Wei’s mood.
“Alright then.” Gu Wei restarted the car. “Whether what you said is true or false, I enjoyed hearing it.”
Turning the steering wheel, the Maserati smoothly merged into the traffic.
“So, your meaning is, you’ll be with me once you feel you’re worthy, correct?”
“…That’s one way to interpret it.” Xiang Qing answered, steeling herself.
‘As long as I don’t feel worthy, that ‘someday’ will never arrive.’
‘Plan successful!’
“Excellent.” Gu Wei’s lips curved into an exaggerated smile. “Then I shall wait.”
‘Crisis averted!’
Xiang Qing let out a long, shuddering breath, feeling as though she had just narrowly escaped the jaws of death.
‘To accompany a ruler is like accompanying a tiger,’ the ancients certainly spoke the truth!
Especially when this particular tiger happened to be a madwoman!
The car journeyed all the way back to Star Convergence International.
Inside the elevator, Xiang Qing remained immersed in the joy of having averted disaster.
However, the moment they stepped through the door, Gu Wei turned and locked it.
The click of the lock sent a jolt through Xiang Qing’s heart.
“CEO Gu, CEO Gu?”
Seeing the mischievous smile on Gu Wei’s face, Xiang Qing’s heart began to pound once more.
‘No way, this isn’t over yet, is it?’
“What you said just now was quite eloquent.”
Gu Wei advanced on her, step by step, cornering her against the wall in the entryway.
One hand braced against the wall, the other gently lifted Xiang Qing’s chin.
“Your acting was clumsy, but your emotions were sincere.”
“I’ll give you full marks for that.”
She lowered her head, her warm breath caressing Xiang Qing’s face.
“However…”
Her voice dropped to a whisper.
“You ruined my good time in the restroom.”
“How, pray tell, should we settle this score?”
‘Settle it? How else could we settle it?’
‘I’m toast!’
A stampede of alpacas charged through Xiang Qing’s mind, yet she forced a smile onto her face that looked worse than a grimace.
“CEO Gu… you’re a person of great magnanimity, with a heart broad enough to sail a ship. Please don’t stoop to bickering with a small fry like me, alright?”
She was utterly terrified now, practically wanting to perform a kowtow slide on the spot for Gu Wei.
The reverse psychology she’d employed in the car seemed to have lost its effectiveness.
This madwoman, back on her home turf, had her combat power exploding!
“Bicker?”
Gu Wei scoffed, her fingers tightening imperceptibly on Xiang Qing’s chin.
“Xiang Qing, do you truly believe I’m easily appeased?”
Her stunning face drew impossibly close, her warm breath ghosting over Xiang Qing’s skin, carrying a scent both dangerous and alluring.
“You made me lose so much face in that restroom.”
“Such a perfect atmosphere, completely shattered by your single shout.”
“Tell me, how should I settle this score with you to make it fair?”
Xiang Qing’s brain was in a frantic meltdown.
She felt like a fish on a cutting board, with Gu Wei as the chef wielding a forty-meter-long blade, ready to slice her at any moment.
‘A kiss, it’s definitely going to be a kiss.’
‘Judging by Gu Wei’s stance, this won’t be over until she kisses me today.’
Xiang Qing swallowed hard, her money-obsessed brain kicking into overdrive.
‘It’s just a kiss, I won’t lose a limb.’
‘If my sugar mama’s unhappy, there’ll be no money.’
‘For the soft currency, for her dream of a seaside villa in a first-tier city, I’ll endure!’
‘It’s just a kiss, I’ll pretend a pig nuzzled me!’
In a flash of lightning, Xiang Qing had mentally prepared herself.
She even secretly cheered herself on: ‘Xiang Qing, you’re a professional! Customer service must be impeccable! It’s just satisfying the sugar mama’s needs, right? Go for it!’
Having come to this realization, Xiang Qing ceased her struggles instantly.
She abandoned all resistance, her body going limp as she completely relaxed.
She even closed her eyes, adopting a resigned posture, as if saying, ‘Do with me as you please.’
“CEO Gu, I know I was wrong.”
Her voice was soft and gentle, sounding utterly pathetic.
“Whatever you want… is fine.”
“I… I’ll listen to you.”
‘Come on! Destroy me! Hurry up! The sooner I die, the sooner I’m reborn!’
Xiang Qing’s submission clearly pleased Gu Wei.
She felt the grip on her chin loosen, replaced by the gentle caress of a fingertip.
“Wouldn’t it have been better to be this obedient from the start?”
Gu Wei’s voice was low and husky, tinged with the satisfaction of a successful conquest.
She leaned closer, her flawless face growing larger and larger before Xiang Qing’s tightly closed eyelids.
Xiang Qing could even detect the unique, cool fragrance emanating from her.
‘My first kiss is really going to happen here.’
‘Even though I’m a woman now, this body has never been kissed before!’
Just as Xiang Qing held her breath, anticipating the soft touch—
“CEO Gu, what exactly are you doing?”
A clear, yet gentle, female voice instantly pierced the thick, ambiguous air in the entryway.
Xiang Qing’s eyes snapped open.
‘A savior!’
At the entrance to the living room, not far away, stood Shen Lanzhi.
Fresh from a shower, she wore a pale purple silk robe, its neckline slightly open to reveal delicate, fair collarbones.
Her long, dark hair, still slightly damp, cascaded casually over her shoulders, emanating the fresh scent of gardenias.
Barefoot, with a faint polish on her fair, delicate toes, she looked like a living painting beneath the crystal chandelier.
However, the expression on this particular painting was far from pleasant.
Shen Lanzhi wore her characteristic gentle and proper smile, but not a hint of warmth reached her eyes.
She simply stood there, quietly observing the two pinned against the wall, her gaze tinged with displeasure.
Gu Wei’s movements froze completely.
Maintaining her leaning-in posture, ready to kiss, she slowly, ever so slowly, turned her head to look at Shen Lanzhi.
‘It’s you again, you green tea b*tch!’
A curse word exploded in Gu Wei’s mind.
‘My cooked duck has flown away for the second time!’
Her current mood was a thousand times more infuriated than when she had been interrupted by that brat in the restroom!
“Miss Shen.” Gu Wei straightened up, releasing her hold on Xiang Qing, her tone so cold it could shatter ice. “Since when do you, an outsider, meddle in my household affairs?”
Xiang Qing quickly seized the opportunity to slip away from the corner, darting at light speed behind Shen Lanzhi, peeking out with only her small head, much like a chick reunited with its mother.
‘Safe! Temporarily safe!’
Sensing the subtle movements behind her, Shen Lanzhi’s smile deepened slightly. She took a step forward, subtly shielding Xiang Qing completely behind her.
“CEO Gu, you’re mistaken.”
Shen Lanzhi’s voice remained as gentle as ever.
“I’m hardly an outsider; I’m here to look after Xiao Qing. As for you, CEO Gu, cornering Xiao Qing by the door and putting your hands on her in the dead of night—is that truly what a respectable boss should be doing?”
“Our Xiao Qing is timid; don’t frighten her.”
‘”Our Xiao Qing”?’
Hearing those words, Gu Wei’s temper flared instantly.
‘Who do you think you are, claiming “our”?’
“Shen Lanzhi, get this straight: this is my home! Xiang Qing is my housekeeper! What I choose to do with her is my freedom!”
Gu Wei crossed her arms, lifted her chin, and unleashed her full queenly aura.
“If you don’t like it, you can get out right now!”
“Ha.” Shen Lanzhi chuckled, completely unfazed. “I’m Xiao Qing’s sister. She hasn’t asked me to leave, so why should I? If CEO Gu finds me an eyesore, you could always sell this house and move somewhere I don’t know about.”
“You!”
Gu Wei’s chest heaved with indignation.
Two top-tier beauties, tall and long-legged, with breathtaking looks, engaged in a fierce standoff in the luxurious entryway, vying for a trembling little quail.
Sparks flew in the air, and a battle seemed imminent.
Hiding behind Shen Lanzhi, Xiang Qing dared not breathe.
