Time passed unknowingly until the fifth day.
During these past few days, aside from lying down next to Cai Xiaowei to sleep, the Moon Master had kept his promise and done nothing to her.
Instead, he treated Cai Xiaowei like a princess.
Cai Xiaowei would wake up to find food ready, and the Moon Master had even cooked it himself—something she had discovered one morning when she woke up early.
Every day, the Moon Master took Cai Xiaowei out to various places, though they were all places the former Holy Maiden had liked to visit.
His demeanor became more stable day by day.
He no longer lost his temper randomly.
As a result, Cai Xiaowei grew bolder and sometimes even talked back to him.
“Take off your mask and let me see what you look like.”
Cai Xiaowei pouted at the Moon Master.
“You’re becoming more and more presumptuous. It seems I need to teach you a lesson.”
The Moon Master looked at Cai Xiaowei helplessly.
At first, she had been terrified of him, and now she was already asking him to take off his mask.
“Scaring me won’t work. I’m not afraid of you. Tell me, are you going to let me see it or not?”
Cai Xiaowei tugged at the Moon Master’s long sleeve.
“Alright, how about this? Today, when Ouyang Tianqi arrives, if he beats me, I’ll let you see it.”
The Moon Master proposed a condition.
“You’ll go easy on him, right?”
Cai Xiaowei blinked at the Moon Master.
The Moon Master turned his head away, ignoring this troublesome girl.
Cai Xiaowei circled around the Moon Master, blinking non-stop.
“Right? … You’ll go easy on him, right?”
“You… fine. I promise you I won’t hurt him.”
The Moon Master couldn’t win against her persistence.
“You said it! Let’s pinky swear. No lying.”
Cai Xiaowei extended her pinky finger.
The Moon Master was stunned for a moment.
In the past, he and Ouyang Haiyue had also pinky-sworn like this.
The Moon Master slowly raised his hand and linked pinky fingers with Cai Xiaowei.
“Your hands are long and white. How does a big man maintain them like this?”
Cai Xiaowei noticed the Moon Master’s hands.
“You worry about too many things.”
The Moon Master turned and walked outside.
When he reached the door, he called out to Cai Xiaowei, “Come on. Let’s go greet your younger brother. He’ll be here soon. I’ve already sensed him.”
Cai Xiaowei obediently walked outside.
She waited for a long time, but there wasn’t a single person in sight.
Yet the Moon Master was sitting at the stone table, leisurely drinking tea.
“Are you messing with me? Where is anyone?”
Cai Xiaowei looked at the Moon Master angrily.
“He’ll be here in about a quarter of an hour. You’re the one getting so excited. Are you blaming me?”
The Moon Master said with a smile.
“You’re lying to me. It’s so far away. How could you have sensed him?”
Cai Xiaowei didn’t believe what he was saying at all.
“What if I told you that I am one of the twelve zodiac signs?”
The Moon Master suddenly dropped this remark.
“Then why are you opposing Ouyang Tianqi?”
Cai Xiaowei couldn’t figure it out anymore.
Wasn’t it that all twelve zodiac signs were supposed to be loyal to the Qilin?
“Just because I’m one of the twelve zodiac signs means I have to side with the Qilin? Who made that rule?”
This statement from the Moon Master reminded Cai Xiaowei of Silva.
That Leo had dared to lock up the Holy Maiden herself, and had even dared to slap her face.
Thinking about it this way, the twelve zodiac signs indeed didn’t necessarily all have to obey the Qilin.
After a while, a figure did appear in the distance.
That person was indeed Ouyang Tianqi.
“Moon Master, isn’t it time to give my sister back to me?”
Ouyang Tianqi walked over, glanced at Cai Xiaowei, and then said to the Moon Master.
“You’re thinking too much. Without defeating me, how could I give Haiyue to you? You need to prove that you have the ability to protect her.”
The Moon Master stood up, his tone once again becoming gloomy and devoid of emotion.
“Then no more words. Come on.”
Ouyang Tianqi’s body began to swirl with abilities of various colors.
The Moon Master waved his hand at Cai Xiaowei.
Cai Xiaowei obediently retreated far away.
Then the Moon Master’s demeanor changed, becoming even more gloomy, making people tremble involuntarily.
Black and silver abilities swirled around him.
“The Dark Night Serpent is indeed the strongest snake zodiac in history, and the only one ranking just below the Dragon zodiac. Truly impressive.”
Ouyang Tianqi said with admiration.
“Stop the chatter. Let me see just how strong the Qilin really is. Why is he the leader of the Eastern ability world?”
The Moon Master instantly transformed into streaks of black and silver shadows flying toward Ouyang Tianqi.
Ouyang Tianqi was not flustered.
He simply changed his hand gesture, and flames of red, yellow, and green rose from his body.
“You think a little true samādhi fire can stop me?”
The Moon Master’s ghostly voice rang out.
Then those black and silver shadows twisted together and spun violently.
The true samādhi fire was actually sucked in and disappeared into the shadows.
“You can actually devour true samādhi fire directly. I underestimated you.”
Ouyang Tianqi was surprised.
Then he unleashed a barrage of various abilities at the shadows.
A massive grayish-white wall suddenly appeared in front of the shadows, completely blocking all the abilities.
“Stop testing me. Those little tricks of yours won’t hurt me. Go into your Qilin transformation.”
The Moon Master’s impatient voice came through.
“I never expected your first transformation to be this strong. If I’m not mistaken, your strength should have surpassed that of the Dragon zodiac.”
As Ouyang Tianqi spoke, he began gathering all his abilities together, intertwining them.
Finally, they merged into a single grayish-white energy.
The black half-body armor that appeared during the process actually turned into full-body grayish-white armor.
His eyes also turned grayish-white.
“Going directly into the second transformation of the Qilin? It seems I have no choice but to use my full strength as well.”
The Moon Master said this as those black and white shadows slowly intertwined into a black-and-white ethereal serpent.
Then the serpent slowly curled up on the ground, transforming into a sickly thin person.
Only, his face still wore that mask.
“The third transformation of the snake zodiac. The dragon can currently only do the second transformation. I never expected you to have reached the third. I underestimated you.”
Ouyang Tianqi no longer hesitated.
His injuries were only half healed. He needed to end this quickly and couldn’t afford to drag it out.
Ouyang Tianqi charged forward, swinging his fists.
His body and fists were wrapped in the primal aura of chaotic abilities.
The Moon Master did not dare to be careless.
He immediately built layers of strange energy walls in front of him.
Ouyang Tianqi didn’t waste words and began pounding wildly on the energy walls.
Ripples spread across the energy walls, but they remained very stable.
The Moon Master took the opportunity to shoot silvery-white liquid from his hands.
Ouyang Tianqi let out a loud roar, and the light on his body instantly flashed brightly.
The liquid dissipated before even landing on him.
Ouyang Tianqi thrust out both fists.
Two strange white claws shot out from his fists, instantly shattering the energy wall.
Then Ouyang Tianqi, with ghostly speed, closed in on the Moon Master.
Countless explosive punches came at the Moon Master from close range.
The Moon Master suddenly shifted his form, moving around to Ouyang Tianqi’s waist in a strange way.
Then, Cai Xiaowei saw with shock that the Moon Master was clinging to Ouyang Tianqi’s back, his two arms locked around Ouyang Tianqi’s neck.
And the black-and-white ethereal serpent body was coiled around Ouyang Tianqi again and again.
“Although your second Qilin transformation inherits some abilities of the dragon and tiger from the four ancient divine beasts, now that you are entangled by the serpent, you have no chance of winning. Surrender. I don’t want to hurt you.”
The Moon Master’s voice was cold and sharp.
“For my sister, how could I surrender? But it seems you’ve forgotten one technique. And that technique grows stronger the closer the distance.”
Ouyang Tianqi’s grayish-white eyes suddenly flashed with light.
He opened his mouth wide and let out a roar—the Tiger’s Roar and Dragon’s Cry!
Then, the world before them turned grayish-white.
That soul-shaking sound continued to ripple outward.
Even Cai Xiaowei, who was standing so far away, felt so uncomfortable that she knelt down.
The terrifying power of this sound far exceeded the Lion’s Roar of the Leo from before.
The Moon Master’s vision went white.
His transformed state could no longer be maintained…
