The triplets had such exquisite features that Ye Shengge lost track of time while looking at them.
It wasn’t until the system spoke up to remind him that he suddenly remembered he still had to move the six resentful dolls upstairs. He hurriedly used the dim orange light to pick up the small cart that had fallen over.
Fortunately, the cart was made of sturdy materials and hadn’t broken despite being dumped on the floor.
Ye Shengge let out a sigh of relief. With great effort, he half-hugged and half-dragged the triplet doll that had been in the “center position” onto the cart. Then, he tentatively reached out and gave the door a gentle push—it opened easily, leaving no trace of the heavy, sudden slam from before.
This transport session went very smoothly. Until he stepped out of the basement and saw the sunlight on the first floor, Ye Shengge didn’t encounter any supernatural events, nor was he harassed by that perverted lecherous ghost.
He hadn’t expected that while the ghost was a bit lecherous, he wasn’t like other ghosts who broke their word. Instead, he was quite honest.
The triplet doll from the center was placed by Ye Shengge in the guest room closest to the first-floor staircase, making it convenient for him to observe this miraculous triplet doll up close later.
After settling the first seemingly normal resentful doll, Ye Shengge only had time to rest for a few minutes before rushing back to the basement to fetch another one. He was afraid that if he went too late, the other resentful dolls would hold a grudge against him.
After all, if he were the one left in a terrifying place like the basement, he would definitely be even more ruthless than these dolls; tearing someone into ten thousand pieces wouldn’t even begin to quench his hatred.
Unfortunately, the person currently forced to take the blame—the one who not only discarded former lovers but discarded them in such a hellish basement, and who “deserved” to be shredded—was him.
Ye Shengge instantly felt cowardly.
He didn’t dare make the resentful dolls unhappy, fearing they would slice him into pieces.
But Ye Shengge didn’t know that his few minutes of rest had planted seeds of dark suspicion in the minds of the dolls waiting to be moved. They feared they were being abandoned again.
Ever since being discarded by the beautiful dollmaker, they had grown to intensely hate the favored new dolls. Like abandoned concubines in a cold palace, even though they knew it was unlikely, they still harbored a sliver of hope that the “Emperor” would remember their good points and take them out of the darkness.
Only then would they be saved from being driven mad by jealousy and loneliness.
So, when this “impossible” hope suddenly became reality, the resentful dolls, who had slowly lost hope and developed extreme thoughts, were ecstatic.
Every one of them hoped to be the one remembered by the beautiful dollmaker.
Especially the three dolls with identical faces.
When the beautiful dollmaker’s focused gaze fell upon them, they nearly went mad with joy. They hoped to use their unique status—different from the other three—to catch his eye and let him lead them out of the basement.
However, while the dollmaker did take a doll away, he didn’t take all three. He only took one of them.
At first, the other two triplets confidently consoled themselves. Perhaps the dollmaker was too weak to carry two at once? If they waited, it would surely be their turn next.
But they waited and waited. They waited for a long time, yet the beautiful dollmaker did not return.
Only then did they begin to suspect: was the dollmaker only planning to take one?
After all, when the dollmaker “dated” his dolls before, he only dated one at a time. He would never be ambiguous with several simultaneously; at most, he would just quickly swap for a new one. He was a “scumbag” through and through.
But even if he suddenly wanted to rekindle an old flame and chose the memorable triplets, why did he only pick the one in the middle and not the other two?
Clearly, the other two looked exactly like the lucky one who was taken.
The massive disparity and resentment almost drove the remaining two triplets insane.
They wished they could tear that lucky triplet to shreds and take its place, standing openly by the beautiful dollmaker’s side.
It would be better if there were no triplets.
Not only did the remaining two feel this way, but the other three dolls leaning in the display case felt the same.
The difference was that the two triplets wanted to kill their lucky sibling to replace it, while the other three wanted to kill all the triplets.
From the moment they saw the dollmaker’s curiosity and wonder toward the triplets, they knew that even if they were lucky enough to be brought back upstairs, they would never surpass the triplets’ status in his heart.
To shift his attention to themselves, the first step was to kill the special triplets.
Originally, the triplets were very united, a force that other solitary dolls didn’t dare provoke easily. But now that this had happened, even the most united brothers would turn on each other. Furthermore, among the other three dolls, there was one powerful doll that had broken through its restrictions.
If it acted now, the chance of killing the other two triplets was huge. Then it could devour the souls of the dead triplets to increase its own strength, moving as freely as a human—even taking a few liberties with the beautiful dollmaker to collect some “interest” for being abandoned.
The pupils of the three distinct dolls shifted as they glanced at each other, simultaneously deciding to kill the remaining two triplets.
Among those making the decision, one doll was particularly special.
Not only could he coordinate with the other two using his mind to target the triplets, he even managed to kick open the display case door. He moved his wrists a few times, making a sharp sound.
The next second, a malicious sneer rang out.
That tall doll with exceptionally handsome features looked mockingly at the group of resentful dolls fighting in the case. With a single move, he pinned them all down. He spoke in a leisurely tone: “I told you long ago, don’t covet people you shouldn’t. Why do you never listen?”
He was the first doll to break the seal’s restrictions. He was also the first doll the beautiful dollmaker had ever created—the one who had accompanied him the longest and had been abandoned the earliest.
If the dolls in the case could move, they would have beaten this shameless doll to a pulp for his “acting like a victim while getting all the benefits” attitude.
But they hadn’t broken the seal. They were restricted and couldn’t move; they couldn’t even utter a single curse. They could only rapidly roll their pupils to vent their inner fury.
“It seems you don’t quite agree with me.” The doll, who looked exactly like a normal human, was entirely unaffected by the other four. He thought for a moment with feigned distress, then said: “Since that’s the case, I can’t let you stay any longer.”
Hearing this, the four dolls in the case suddenly stopped rolling their eyes. Their hearts were filled with rage and disbelief.
They strongly suspected this doll wasn’t the “Senior” one, but an “Old Six” (traitor/backstabber). Why else would he be such a sneak? To suddenly jump out and reap the benefits after the four of them had fought and wounded each other.
No, this wasn’t just reaping benefits; he was playing them for fools.
Since that annoying doll had already broken the seal, dealing with these dolls who couldn’t speak or move was simply too easy.
His goal was never as simple as killing the triplets; he wanted to kill every doll except himself.
That way, he would never have to worry about other dolls stealing the dollmaker’s gaze.
In the future, there would only be him as the dollmaker’s lover. Even if new dolls appeared, he would devour them.
The beautiful dollmaker could only be his.
Thinking of this, he stopped playing around. He intended to cut the Gordian knot and handle the four dolls in the basement immediately, then go solve the ones upstairs.
He had wanted to do this the moment the dollmaker entered the basement and he happened to break the seal.
Thick resentment radiated from the doll standing outside the case, beginning to devour the case from the bottom up.
The doll watched this with a smile in its eyes.
He thought to himself: In ten seconds at most, these dolls and this resentment-filled case will all be devoured by me.
In those ten seconds, no one could change the outcome.
As for the beautiful dollmaker, the only one who could save them, he was probably busy being “sticky” with the doll he took away.
No matter how you looked at it, these four dolls were doomed today.
Seeing the black mist of resentment getting closer to the dolls’ feet, the smile on the doll outside the case widened.
Yes, just like that. Only one second left before it devoured their feet.
Once their feet were gone, they would be flawed rejects. Even if they didn’t die, the dollmaker would never love them again.
But just as he was happily awaiting that moment, an accident occurred.
One second before the dolls became “rejects,” the sound of the door opening rang out, followed by a soft, sweet voice.
“Huh? Why is the door closed?”
It was the beautiful dollmaker.
The doll, who had been calm and joyful, saw its expression change instantly. It retracted all its resentment, dived back into the display case—which was now too small for it—and curled up in a corner looking aggrieved, right next to the other four dolls who were staring at it in fury.
The next second, the basement door was pushed open.
The dollmaker’s voice rang out, full of confusion: “That’s strange. Why is such a large piece of the display case broken?”
The doll curled in the corner went stiff.
It suddenly realized it had forgotten to restore the display case to its original state!
