The Unintended Floor Leader and a Fortuitous Reunion

Chapter 371,323 words12 min read

The star-emblazoned gates swung open for visitors. A throng of nobles and commoners alike jostled their way up the steps.

Above the Magic Academy, a triple star-ring shimmered, while projections of various figures flickered in and out of existence.

Raphael led the way, with Mylian and Stella following close behind her. As the Head of the Department of Magic, she naturally drew numerous gazes.

“Teacher Raphael from the Department of Magic actually went to pick up students herself. They look so good together.”

“Indeed. I wonder which freshman class is lucky enough to have two such beauties.”

“Which one do you think is easier to get along with? I find the shorter one quite adorable; I love her hairstyle.”

Two senior female students, cloaked in grey, passed by. Their discussion was clearly audible to Stella, who couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

If only you had seen the old me, you certainly wouldn’t think I was adorable. You’d probably call me a demon, she mused.

Stella recalled the typical plot development in a normal academy setting: a protagonist gathering followers to bully their older sister, earning a notorious reputation, repeatedly failing to frame her sister, and finally, in a fit of rage, being pinned down and forced into a losing CG scene. After mental control magic was input, she would become a complete ‘Star s*ave.’

Thus, she had to avoid any unnecessary social interaction. Any engagement that might threaten her sister’s position was to be meticulously sidestepped.

Stella secretly vowed to absolutely change that dreadful future.

“Little sister, what are you thinking about?” Mylian asked casually, noticing Stella’s preoccupied expression.

“There are so many students on the road. I was just thinking about making some friends in the future,” Stella replied with a practiced smile. Mylian, accustomed to her sister’s smiles, didn’t believe it was her true thought.

My little sister is trying to do something behind my back again. It seems I need to keep a stricter watch on her.

Handcuffs and a collar flashed through Mylian’s mind, but the moment she thought it, a cold sweat broke out. Why would she do that to Stella? She was her older sister, after all.

If Stella was willing to be an obedient younger sister, mental submission would be far more effective than any physical restraint.

Mylian’s thoughts gradually returned to the ‘right path,’ and the possessiveness in her gaze towards Stella intensified.

The sisters successfully entered the Magic Academy’s teaching building. After Raphael reiterated the important rules, she handed each sister a key.

“Your dorms are conveniently next to each other, and you’ll have one roommate. This individual is quite a prominent figure, no less than yourselves, so don’t gang up and bully them.”

Raphael specifically held Stella’s gaze. She had a strange, inexplicable premonition that the ‘vulnerable’ Stella would reveal a different side to their new roommate.

“I will definitely foster good relationships with my roommate, rest assured, Teacher,” Stella declared, puffing out her chest. Mylian, meanwhile, displayed a slight frown.

“Mylian? Is there something you’d like to say?” Raphael noticed Mylian’s unease and asked.

“Nothing, Teacher. I have no complaints.” Mylian’s response brought a small smile to Raphael’s face. She clapped her hands, making a spontaneous decision.

“Then, Stella, you shall be the floor leader. There shouldn’t be any problem with that, right?”

“She’s the floor leader?” Mylian’s eyes widened, as if this were a grave error.

“Huh? Me?” Stella pointed to her own face, feeling bewildered. In the original story, wasn’t it supposed to be my sister?

“Of course, this is a temporary decision. The school committee will re-evaluate the position based on monthly performance. If you two sisters decide to compete for it, I have no objections. I have great faith in Stella’s ability to handle it.”

Raphael left the dilemma for the sisters to sort out, then departed the corridor with an easy, unburdened air.

“Little sister, congratulations! You’ve already secured the position of floor leader.”

Mylian clapped her hands, her face full of ‘smiles’ as she congratulated Stella. However, the thought of Stella potentially being busy with other matters and not in the dorm filled her with a rather unpleasant mood.

“Uh, Big Sister, why don’t you take it? I don’t really like it.”

Stella wore a bitter smile. She truly didn’t want to deal with unnecessary social interactions. What if she accidentally gained a few loyal fans who then caused trouble for her sister? That would be disastrous.

“Didn’t you hear what the teacher said? She trusts you immensely.”

Mylian placed both hands on Stella’s shoulders, her expression akin to questioning, When exactly did you two conspire?

“I didn’t! Big Sister, believe me, it’s just the teacher’s wishful thinking.”

Stella retreated until her back hit the wall, but her sister pressed closer, creating a small, confined space for the two of them.

What did I do to upset Big Sister? Why does she keep teasing me lately? This relationship progression is completely off!

Alas, without a magical artifact to observe affection, Stella would have used it long ago. Instead, she was left to painstakingly guess her sister’s expressions to make her decisions.

“Strange… Is the dorm here?”

A somewhat bewildered voice drifted into the dorm corridor. Turning, she saw the two sisters in a ‘wall-pinning’ stance, causing the map in her hand to flutter to the ground.

Is it Eveming? I’m saved!

“Eveming! We meet again!”

Stella shouted the Saintess’s name from afar. Eveming’s head snapped up; she had just raised her hand to respond, but Mylian’s gaze pinned her.

Mylian is warning me not to approach? Does she mean I shouldn’t meddle?

Eveming instantly understood Mylian’s unspoken message. She silently turned, about to retreat around the corner, as if abandoning Stella.

Having finally found a savior to prevent her sister from ‘teasing’ her, Stella quickly called out to the other woman.

“Eveming! You wouldn’t want those things to be known by others, would you?!”

“Ngh?!”

Eveming halted in her tracks, the memory of that night, sharing a pair of pants with Stella, flashing through her mind.

My dark history cannot be known by others; otherwise, the Sochi Holy Kingdom will revoke my Saintess title.

Tap-tap-tap!

Compelled by her dignity, Eveming approached under pressure, forcing herself to greet Stella and Mylian.

“It’s good to see you two again. Your relationship is as good as ever, ah haha.”

Eveming awkwardly interjected into the conversation. Stared down by Mylian, she still had to smile, though her expression was incredibly strained.

“Hello, Eveming. You’ve appeared at quite a convenient moment.”

Mylian released Stella, shifting her attention to Eveming. Her dissatisfaction and anger were thinly veiled beneath a facade of a kind smile.

I’m already disliked on my first day of enrollment, Eveming thought, a self-deprecating sigh. However, her room key was dangling from her wrist, a sight Stella immediately caught.

“Eveming, were you just looking for your dorm?” Stella asked, eyeing the numbers on the key.

“Yes, I was. Stella, do you know where dorm A12 is?” Eveming had searched but hadn’t found it.

“So, the three of us are roommates! What a coincidence. No wonder Teacher Raphael emphasized it so much.”

Stella clapped her hands, feigning sudden realization. Yet, her words sparked intense internal reactions in the two women beside her.

Mylian: What? Someone is hindering my ‘revenge’ on my little sister? I need to consider eliminating them.

Eveming: Why does Mylian look like she wants to kill me? Should I apply for a dorm transfer?

At this moment, only Stella felt a sense of relief. She believed that a triangle offered stability, making it harder for her sister to bully her.

This should be how it works, right?
