Southern Border of the Iris Feather Kingdom, Mobei Fortress.
It was the dead of night, and a blizzard raged.
Along the border, towering walls stretched for miles, standing resolute against the tempest. From the watchtowers, searchlights pierced the swirling veil of snow, casting the silhouettes of the intermediate Magical Girls, bundled in thick winter cloaks, onto the icy fortress walls as they patrolled.
The white breath they exhaled crystallized instantly, their steps slow and deliberate through the snow. The biting cold was merciless, yet they remained steadfast at their posts.
Their magic was finite; transformation was reserved only for absolute necessity. After all, every wisp of magical power served as a critical defense against external threats.
With the border’s Magical Girls standing guard, particularly vigilant against outsiders—be they humans, myriad races, or any other entities—gaining entry was no easy feat.
While numerous Magical Girls were on duty, many were of the intermediate rank. Each was equipped with a communicator, and failure to report on schedule would immediately alert the main control room.

Meanwhile, within a luxurious abode in the border city, a starkly different scene unfolded.
Warm yellow light spilled through carved windows, illuminating the snow outside. Inside, the senior Magical Girls, off-duty and resting, had shed their usual solemnity and vigilance, indulging instead in boundless revelry.
Candlelight flickered, reflecting off their flushed, liquor-hazed faces, while beneath the chandeliers, their laughter intertwined with the soft strains of a harp.
Some gave in to uninhibited desires, several Magical Girls entangled together, embracing, cuddling, and kissing. Several of them lay entwined on a soft divan draped with white fox fur, their crimson cheeks pressed intimately together. Traces of lipstick lingered on their lips, smudging onto each other’s necks.
“Darling, have you heard? Zhennu Yibai of Ephemeral City is actually a man!”
A red-haired Magical Girl lay back on the divan, gazing up at the twin-tailed girl above her, who was exerting herself.
“I can’t believe my idol turned out to be a ‘fake’!”
“Mmm, ahh~ Faster, please, faster.”
Hearing this, the twin-tailed girl’s hips began to move with renewed vigor, while the girl beneath her playfully tugged at the dangling ponytails.
On this frigid night, they were simply lovers, reveling in each other’s warmth. And couples like them were far from uncommon.
Soft, hazy gasps rose and fell, seeking to dispel the pervasive loneliness of the long, cold night.
Not all Magical Girls were ‘saints’ devoid of desire. They were all so young, yet had guarded the frontier for years. Though they received handsome compensation and held the promise of being reassigned as city guardians within the kingdom, they were truly lonely… so long and solitary. They could only… satisfy each other, using the warmth of intimate contact to soothe hearts that yearned for… release.

“Come on, let me see if you’re a man too~”
Another girl, tipsy and laughing, draped an arm around her companion’s waist, her fingers naughtily unfastening the other’s collar and lower garments.
“Who knows, maybe we have a second ‘Zhennu’ hiding among us~”
Amidst the playful giggles, some girls picked up grapes from the table, holding them in their mouths before feeding them to each other. Others, wine glasses in hand, smiled dreamily as liquor trickled from the corners of their mouths, dampening their translucent gauze dresses.
Indeed, even in an all-female border garrison, loneliness was an inevitable companion.

In yet another dwelling, the revelry swelled to a crescendo. Dozens of girls sang and danced, a scene reminiscent of ‘beauties dancing beneath a general’s tent.’
The lead dancer, barefoot, glided across the floor, her flowing sleeves scattering fine perfumed powder that swirled in the air with her every step. Moreover, with every few steps, an article of clothing would fall to the floor. Each spin and reveal elicited cheers from the appreciative audience.
Eventually, the dancers stood completely unclad, their skin gleaming with a pale luminescence in the candlelight. The dance was certainly improper, yet they delighted in this process of ‘disarming.’
On the steps, an older woman with an unmistakably gossipy glint in her eyes was also discussing the matter of Zhennu Yibai.
“Speaking of which, this whole affair is truly bizarre. A man infiltrating the Magical Girl ranks and becoming a revered ‘Zhennu’… the higher-ups must be absolutely furious.”
Her words drew a round of snickers.
“What good will fury do? The entire kingdom is talking about it now, and it’s gone viral online, hasn’t it?”

However, even as these Magical Girls indulged in their nightly revelry, beneath the raging blizzard, a figure materialized from thin air. Clad in a black hooded cloak, she possessed hands adorned with silver nail polish. Beneath the mask, a pair of sky-blue eyes gleamed brightly, complementing the streaked orange-red hair that cascaded over her chest.
It was Xia Naxin.
She had just emerged from the Underworld, and according to the Witch’s Assembly’s mission brief, her target was likely the colossal fortress ahead—Mobei. Here, she was to coordinate from within…
She quietly listened to the conversations emanating from within the house. The scandal in Ephemeral City had, as the Witch’s Assembly predicted, indeed stirred turmoil throughout the kingdom.
‘Ah, once trust crumbles, it becomes the perfect breach. Silvia, I’m sorry. Forgive me for this one act of malice, for your sake…’
Xia Naxin’s figure swept across the snow, silently drawing closer to the Mobei Fortress in the distance.

A short while later, Xia Naxin’s fingertip brushed against the void, and in that instant, she plunged into the Underworld.
Reality tore open like a curtain, revealing the intricate inner workings of the structure. The translucent fortress lay bare under her spiritual sight.
Intertwining energy conduits glowed with an eerie luminescence, while suspended runes darted through them like schools of shimmering silver fish. And what appeared to be ordinary brick walls in the ‘surface world’—reality—now revealed layers upon layers of defensive barriers.
Indeed, Mobei Fortress was also fortified against mental and spiritual entities.
‘As expected, there’s soul imaging surveillance.’
Xia Naxin moved along the magic-infused wall, her soul manifesting as a blue mist in the Underworld. In the distance, a patrolling silver-white light grid made her pupils contract.
These spear-shaped monitoring devices scanned the space with regular trajectories, at times forming a dense net, at others rising from the ground as localized area probes. Any detection of anomalous spiritual fluctuations would instantly trigger an alarm.

After navigating fifty-six警戒 lines woven from light grids, Xia Naxin finally reached an expansive, domed chamber.
At its center stood a hundred-meter-diameter magic reactor. Innumerable crystal prisms formed the interior of the tower, where liquid magic surged like boiling magma, its ‘sparks’ transforming into light particles in the Underworld.
She took out one of the specialized boxes Ling Qinghe had given her. Upon opening it, it manifested as a detection instrument in the Underworld.
‘What? So many… one thousand three hundred and twenty-seven reactors!’
Xia Naxin consulted the holographic map displayed in the Underworld, which marked over a thousand red dots. Given the situation, she had no choice but to ‘record’ them one by one.
Her fingertip traced the surface of the detection instrument, meticulously logging the reactors’ locations and internal pathways.
Immediately afterward, Xia Naxin’s gaze swept over the fortress’s labyrinthine underground network, observing that the various magic reactors were interconnected.
‘To disable them simultaneously, I must locate the core control hub…’
Following this realization, she began to weave her way through the intricate, winding passages. Her immediate priority was to map every vein and artery of this fortress.
Then, at the opportune moment, she would transform these thousands of magic reactors… into the genesis of Mobei’s downfall.
