Who Says Things Are Easy to Do in a Ferris Wheel?

The setting sun gradually appeared, and in the blink of an eye, the afternoon was nearly over.

I was still pulling Queen Lan, running along the amusement park paths. However, after fleeing for so long, the immense physical exertion had significantly slowed my pace.

Yet, Butler Lin Yi remained in relentless pursuit behind us.

‘Enough, Butler Lin! Haven’t you given up yet? The sun is almost setting! If you don’t go home to cook, your young mistress will be hungry soon!’

“I can’t go on. I can’t run anymore.”

Releasing Queen Lan’s hand, I braced my knees, half-crouching on the ground, gasping for breath.

“Li Qingchen, if you don’t run faster, Lin Yi will catch up to us.”

Queen Lan, however, showed no signs of exertion. Instead, she urged me to continue our escape.

“Let him catch up then. I don’t believe he can truly do anything to me. At worst, it’ll be a good beating, but I simply can’t run anymore.”

I waved my hand, refusing to move again.

‘This afternoon’s workout alone has amounted to half a year’s worth of exercise for me. I could just lie in bed for the next six months without moving a muscle!’

“Honestly, this is why shut-ins are so useless.”

Queen Lan complained, her hands planted on her hips.

“Say what you will. You can run ahead on your own if you want.”

I let out another ragged breath, addressing Queen Lan.

Queen Lan glanced around, humming thoughtfully. Suddenly, her eyes lit up.

She bent down, grabbed my hand, and practically yanked me to my feet, pulling me forward into a run.

“W-what are you doing? Can’t you let me rest for a moment?”

I protested.

“If you don’t want to get caught, then hurry up and run with me!”

No sooner had Queen Lan finished speaking than the sound of rapid footsteps erupted behind us.

I looked back, only to see Butler Lin Yi closing in once more.

“How can he be so persistent?”

I cried out.

“That’s why I said he’s annoying!”

Queen Lan led me through a series of twists and turns.

I realized that the initiative for our escape had shifted from my hands to hers, and I couldn’t help but feel a little ashamed, unable to even outrun a girl.

However, my limited stamina as a shut-in was nearly depleted. I could no longer manage to pull Queen Lan forward; I could only let her drag me around as we fled.

“Where are we running to?”

Noticing the purposeful direction of Queen Lan’s flight, I asked out of curiosity.

“We’ll be there soon.”

Queen Lan replied, still running.

I blinked, then twisted my head back to keep an eye on Lin Yi’s movements.

Finally, after weaving through a crowd of stalls, Queen Lan abruptly halted before a towering structure.

I looked forward, my eyes brightening.

“A Ferris wheel?”

Queen Lan nodded, then released my hand and darted forward.

“Hey, wait for me!”

I quickly called out, quickening my pace to catch up with Queen Lan.

After we paid, the staff readily let us through.

Queen Lan and I swiftly slipped into one of the Ferris wheel cabins.

The cabin successfully started, ascending into the sky.

I pressed myself against the window, watching Butler Lin Yi halted at the Ferris wheel’s boarding platform. He looked up at our cabin, utterly helpless.

Finally, I let out a sigh of relief, slowly collapsing onto the seat.

“This cabin will take about fifteen minutes to return to the ground. We should be able to get some good rest during that time, right?”

I said.

Queen Lan sat opposite me, habitually crossing her legs in a regal fashion, the darkness beneath her “absolute territory” subtly visible.

‘Well, I was too exhausted at the time to even notice. Now that I think back… huh? I definitely don’t regret it!’

“Li Qingchen, today was truly enjoyable.”

Queen Lan chuckled, looking at me.

“Only you found it enjoyable!”

I protested, “We should be thinking about how to escape Butler Lin Yi’s grasp once we get down.”

“Oh, I’ve already figured out a way for that.”

Queen Lan said, stroking her long, straight black hair.

My mind instantly sharpened. I sat up from my seat and asked, “You have a plan? What is it?”

“I’ll tell you when the time comes.”

Queen Lan, however, shook her head, offering a slight smile. “But Li Qingchen, don’t you think this quiet, undisturbed place is perfect for discussing important matters?”

My expression instantly turned serious.

“Are you finally going to answer my questions?”

Queen Lan nodded.

“However, Li Qingchen, before that, I actually have another purpose for returning to this world. Do you know what it is?”

“What is it?”

I swallowed, my intuition telling me that this particular purpose of Queen Lan’s was extremely significant to me.

“It’s…”

Queen Lan smiled.

“I missed you, silly! Come on, Li Qingchen, give me a hug!”

“Get lost!”

I roared directly at Queen Lan. Having hope for this woman was truly the greatest failure of my life.

“Oh, you’re so mean! Li Qingchen is my boyfriend, you know.”

“Don’t ever bring that up again.”

I covered my face. ‘That was the humiliation of my life.’

“Alright, alright, no more jokes.”

The atmosphere eased slightly. Queen Lan narrowed her eyes, straightened her posture, and said to me, “Li Qingchen, this matter is very important, so please listen carefully.”

“What exactly is it?”

I furrowed my brow.

Queen Lan exhaled, then stated, “Actually, ever since you returned to this world, Miss Airi William Barth James has fallen into a deep slumber and hasn’t woken up.”
