“Mr. Chen, I’ll leave the luggage here.”
“Sure, you can go now, Mr. Chen. Thank you for your help this morning.”
As soon as Mr. Chen closed the door, Bai Xia began to curiously inspect the apartment of her classmate, a wealthy young man. The living room had a minimalist yet luxurious design that Bai Xia admired. It was tasteful without being ostentatious, and every detail was meticulously crafted. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a breathtaking view of the entire city, and the sunlight filtering through the sheer curtains cast a warm glow over the entire space.
“Is this what a rich person’s home looks like?”
Truthfully, seeing this, Bai Xia realized her own narrow-mindedness. She had expected the home of a wealthy person to be overly extravagant, but her classmate’s home had a certain elegance and refinement.
At the very least, it was pleasant to the eye.
After removing her small leather shoes, Bai Xia cautiously stepped onto the soft carpet with her white socks, moving like a cautious kitten in a new environment. She approached the sofa, her fingers unconsciously tracing the smooth leather of the armrest, savoring its silky texture.
“How is it? Do you like it?” Mo Bai’s voice suddenly came from behind, startling Bai Xia. She turned around, her face flushing with embarrassment as she smiled nervously at Mo Bai, like a child caught playing with a forbidden toy.
“Ah, Mo Brother, I was just curious. I wanted to see if your expensive sofa is any different from my humble stool.”
Truthfully, Bai Xia had no idea how much Mo Bai’s sofa actually cost, but since it was in his home, she assumed it couldn’t be cheap. At the very least, it shouldn’t be cheaper than her own stool, which cost a few dozen yuan.
Mo Bai chuckled, amused by Bai Xia’s reaction: “What’s the difference? Sit on it and you’ll know. You can’t tell just by touching it.”
Before Bai Xia could respond, Mo Bai scooped her up and gently placed her on the sofa, pinning her down as she let out a surprised gasp. “Aah! Mo, Mo Brother…”
Bai Xia’s cry was cut short as she sank into the soft cushions, her heart racing. Mo Bai propped himself up on one elbow, his other hand gently pinching her rosy cheek. This playful action caused Bai Xia to blush deeply, her toes curling in embarrassment. Her long, white hair was tousled across the sofa, and her ruby-red eyes widened with surprise, making her look like a startled creature.
“Is this more comfortable than your stool?”
Mo Bai’s voice held a teasing note as his fingertips traced the pink flush on Bai Xia’s cheeks. Her skin was as smooth as fine silk, and he couldn’t resist touching it. However, Bai Xia, who was trapped beneath him, was far from calm.
Bai Xia’s cheeks burned with embarrassment, and her eyes glistened with unshed tears. She tried to push Mo Bai away, but her strength was no match for his. Her small hands pressed futilely against his chest, a futile resistance.
“Mo… Mo Brother, get up…”
“What, not comfortable?”
Mo Bai looked down at the shy girl beneath him, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he lowered his voice, adding a dangerous huskiness: “Or are you expecting something?”
Bai Xia’s ruby-red eyes widened in shock, and for a moment, her breathing stopped: “N-not at all!”
Feeling as if her secret thoughts were exposed, Bai Xia blushed and protested, but her shy voice lacked conviction, sounding more like a coy cat. Her long, white hair was scattered across the sofa, accentuating her flushed face and making her look stunningly beautiful.
But Bai Xia herself didn’t know what she was expecting. Whenever Mo Bai approached, her heart raced uncontrollably, and her body became hypersensitive.
“E-enough, Mo Brother. I need to pack my things.”
Bai Xia pushed Mo Bai away, and this time, he let her. She quickly retreated to the room that had been prepared for her, her mind still reeling.
Adorable… I should probably ask her Father for some information about vampires. After all, understanding her lifestyle will make it easier to pursue her.
Is a vampire maiden considered a vampire?
In the room, Bai Xia slid down to the floor, her back against the door, as she tried to catch her breath. Her hand covered her hot cheeks, still unable to fully grasp what had just happened.
“Ugh… This is so embarrassing…” she murmured, replaying in her mind the scene of being pinned down on the sofa. The warmth of Mo Bai’s breath, the strength of his arms, and his dangerously low whisper… each memory made her heart race.
He’s just a bully…
Bai Xia grumbled, but her gaze finally fell on the room Mo Bai had prepared for her. She noticed that the room was much larger than her entire rented apartment. The white walls were clean and free of any stains or odors, and the curtains revealed a floor-to-ceiling window that offered a breathtaking view of the bustling southern part of the city.
“W-wow…” Bai Xia slowly opened the curtains and stood at the window, gazing out at the towering skyscrapers that showcased the prosperity of the capital.
Even during the day, the view was stunning. Bai Xia couldn’t imagine how beautiful it would be at night when the lights came on. She couldn’t resist taking a few photos with her phone, thinking that coming to stay with Mo Bai might not be so bad after all.
And the room itself was luxurious, with a soft bed in the center, a desk and wardrobe on either side, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Compared to her previous cramped rental, this room felt like a palace.
“How does it feel?”
Mo Bai entered the room, carrying Bai Xia’s luggage, and placed it at the side of the room. He leaned against the doorframe, watching the girl standing at the window, a smile playing on his lips.
Bai Xia turned to see Mo Bai standing in the doorway, not approaching her. She felt a strange sense of loss.
“Mo Brother, isn’t this room a bit… too much?” She gestured around the room, her voice trailing off: “It’s just… too good.”
Seeing Bai Xia’s flustered expression, Mo Bai couldn’t help but chuckle.
“What’s wrong with it? Tell me what you think.”
Mo Bai crossed his arms and walked slowly to Bai Xia, his tall figure casting a shadow over the smaller girl. “Have you seen the view from the window?”
“Y-yes…” Bai Xia nodded hesitantly: “It’s beautiful.”
“So, a room like this is quite ordinary here. The important thing is…” Mo Bai turned back and leaned in close, looking directly into Bai Xia’s eyes: “The person standing beside me, watching the view together.”
“M-Mo Brother, what are you talking about?” Bai Xia’s face turned bright red, her ruby-red eyes flickering with confusion.
“You always do this, suddenly coming to tease me! It’s annoying!”
Normally, a little teasing in school was no big deal, but now that she was revealed to be a girl, Mo Bai’s teasing felt overwhelming. However, Bai Xia couldn’t help but wonder how expensive the rent would be for such a luxurious room.
“By the way, about the rent…”
Although Mo Bai hadn’t mentioned anything about paying rent, Bai Xia felt a bit guilty about freeloading. “If it’s too expensive, I can help you with the housework or something.”
Bai Xia’s head hung low, a mix of shyness and fear. Her long, white hair fell over her reddened cheeks, but Mo Bai’s lips curled into a smile.
After all, she was his little classmate, and he should help her out. Besides, money wasn’t an issue for him. Charging a small amount would give her peace of mind.
“Don’t worry, 500 yuan a month for rent is fine. But in return…” Mo Bai leaned in close to her ear and whispered: “You’ll have to do some housework for me.”
With that, Mo Bai left the room, allowing Bai Xia to settle in. For Bai Xia, even doing housework every day after school, or cooking for Mo Bai, would be no problem. She was confident in her cooking skills. The only challenge was…
Looking at the empty wardrobe, she saw two maid uniforms and suddenly regretted her decision.
