My Goddess, Bai An An, as the eldest daughter of Bai Junle, Chairman of the tech giant Te Ao Group, was, without a doubt, a true young lady of wealth and status.
Yet, for some inexplicable reason, Bai An An was largely disfavored within her own family. Even members of the collateral Bai family branches, her peers, received far better treatment than she, the eldest daughter of the family patriarch.
Her relatives, it seemed, treated her as an outcast, frequently subjecting her to veiled insults and sarcastic remarks. Her father, meanwhile, turned a blind eye to it all, even neglecting her entirely.
Despite this, Bai An An appeared unconcerned by her predicament, simply accepting reality with a calm demeanor. She harbored no resentment towards her father, nor did she seek to escape. Instead, she distanced herself from the internal family conflicts, choosing to remain a detached observer.
While other family members attended prestigious elite schools or studied abroad, she chose to attend the same school as a commoner like me. She carried no airs befitting a young lady of her status, concealing her identity to become an ordinary, well-rounded student.
When I first discovered Bai An An’s true identity, I was genuinely startled. This somewhat awkward girl was actually a young lady of such high standing, and it shattered some of my preconceived notions.
Weren’t all young ladies supposed to be pampered, arrogant girls?
Aside from her slight awkwardness in social interactions, Bai An An was remarkably humble and approachable. She embodied the image of an elegant and dignified lady from a prominent family.
While this still fit the definition of a young lady, it simply lacked that certain flair.
Wouldn’t a young lady who scornfully looked down on you as if you were trash, imperiously gave you orders, yet secretly harbored feelings for you, using her arrogance to mask her bashfulness—that be the exciting kind?
For me, however, having a Goddess who was easy to get along with was hardly a bad thing. After all, why would a truly arrogant young lady ever fall for a deadbeat otaku like me—unattractive, penniless, and utterly devoid of talent?
Though Bai An An appeared distant on the surface, she treated everyone equally. She wouldn’t form opinions based on rumors or gossip, nor would she ever discriminate against anyone.
I knew it was unlikely I could ever be with her, but at the very least, I could be a good friend to her.
She truly was an exceptionally good girl. She was kind and cared deeply for her classmates. For instance…
“Ling Jiu, I was a bit worried you might fall behind in your studies, so I made sure to ask about the latest assignments for you. I even took notes on your behalf. Make sure to study hard, alright?”
“Thank you so much.”
Faced with this situation, I could only swallow my bitter feelings in silence.
The Goddess was indeed concerned for me, though her way of showing it was quite subtle. Since I was ill, a little fruit or a small gift would have been nice too, wouldn’t it?
But I wasn’t that close with the Goddess, was I?
In her eyes, I was probably just a trustworthy old classmate. Bringing me homework was merely her fulfilling her duties as the academic committee member.
“An An, how did you find my house? I thought you wouldn’t be back at noon.”
“I wanted to see you a little, so I asked Old Zhang for your address. If I hadn’t been so busy yesterday, I would’ve come to see you sooner.”
Hey, hey, you just calmly said you wanted to see me. Are you trying to flirt with me?
Ahhhhh!
Why has this girl, whose initiative is as low as mine, suddenly changed so drastically?
This isn’t your persona!
What happened to the promised ice queen beauty?
It feels like a couple deeply in love, unable to be separated for even a moment.
Wants to see me…
Could she really like me?
Suddenly, I felt a surge of nervousness. I lowered my head and whispered, “Why?”
Bai An An’s vibrant, charming eyes held a playful smile. She tilted her head slightly, appearing somewhat puzzled by my question.
“Your best friend is sick. Can’t I come to check on you?”
Oh, right. Now that I’m not a boy, it seems she doesn’t need to hold back from visiting me.
But…
This is great!
Long live girls!
As Bai An An spoke, she carefully examined me from all angles. She even leaned in and sniffed near me.
Huh? Do I have some kind of smell?
Didn’t I just take a bath?
Noticing my nervous expression, Bai An An chuckled.
“When I first saw you, I was actually startled. I was wondering if the girl in front of me was really the Ling Jiu I knew.”
It was then that I suddenly recalled Ling Chen saying that those who remembered me vividly would notice something amiss in their memories. Would the Goddess remember what I used to look like?
Suddenly, a flicker of hope ignited within me. If the Goddess still remembered things from before, it would mean I was quite important to her.
As long as she cared about me in her heart, this would be a massive victory for a simp!
“Ling Jiu, you never used to bother with your appearance or care about your image; you always seemed like a gloomy eccentric. But today, you seem much more cheerful and utterly adorable. You also smell wonderful. Did you use perfume?”
“No, not really. I just took a bath earlier. It’s probably just the scent of my new shampoo and soap.”
“Could you recommend them to me?”
“Actually, I just bought them randomly.”
Although the Goddess had forgotten my past self, she genuinely seemed to regard me as a very close girlfriend now.
What’s more, she was truly happy about the change in my appearance, much like a mother’s heartfelt joy at seeing her child grow up.
“By the way, Ling Jiu, your illness isn’t anything serious, is it?”
“No, it’s nothing. I’m almost fully recovered.”
Bai An An nodded. “That’s good then. Rest well and come back to school soon. Everyone’s worried about you.”
I offered a self-deprecating smile, feeling a pang of loss. “Who would even care about me?”
“Many people do. Like Old Zhang, your good friend Xiaochuan, our class monitor…” Bai An An took my hand. After a slight raise of her brow, she smiled and said, “And of course, me.”
The Goddess’s hand was as smooth as jade, warm and soft. My own hand was completely enveloped, making my heart begin to warm.
My face felt so hot. I was so nervous I could barely stand steady.
In my memories, the Goddess wasn’t one to smile so readily. Most of the time, her face was like frost, and her conversations were always serious, carrying an aloofness that kept everyone at arm’s length.
The other side of her I knew was the one behind the screen. It was then that she was an ordinary girl, one who worried, grieved, and had her own hobbies—not a perfect, unapproachable Goddess.
I rarely saw the Goddess’s radiant smile. It was like sunlight dispelling shadows, brilliant and warm, filling one’s heart with comfort.
Suddenly, I felt a little lost.
Now that I can see this side of the Goddess, do I even need to confess my feelings anymore?
As long as I could stand by her side, quietly protect her, and see her smile, I would be content.
“Erm…”
The Goddess’s brows suddenly furrowed. She moved behind me, placing both hands on my waist. Her tone turned unfriendly.
“Ling Jiu, I know you’re more… ample than I am, but to be so completely uninhibited, are you trying to provoke me?”
My entire body trembled.
Damn it!
After showering, I forgot to put on my bra again!
The Goddess was flawless in every way—her impeccable posture, her moonlight-silver hair, her illegally beautiful face, her crystalline, delicate skin, her captivating purple eyes, and her thin, cherry-blossom lips. Every aspect proved she was a perfect, ultimate beauty.
However, she had one regrettable flaw.
My Goddess was flat-chested.
“Hmph, Ling Jiu, not only are you a shut-in, but you’re also a shameless bad girl. As the academic committee member, I must properly educate you!”
Why did things suddenly take such a turn?
