Just as Bai Xia felt she was about to collapse, a glance to the side caught a familiar figure standing outside the alley. On the main street, a young man was walking with friends, laughing and chatting as if they were returning from a gathering. His pristine white shirt stood out under the streetlights—it was her classmate, Mo Bai.
“Mo… Mo ge…”
Bai Xia watched her classmate walking by, her crimson eyes narrowing as her sharp fangs gently pierced her lower lip. The pain, combined with her dwindling strength, managed to suppress the drug’s effects slightly. However, hope of survival flickered in her heart, only to be engulfed by a deeper struggle the next moment.
Currently, she was a mess—her long white hair was disheveled, her sundress strap had fallen, exposing her pink-tinted skin, and her ruby-red eyes were misty with tears, with blood still on her lips. Her appearance was disheveled, and worse, Mo Bai wouldn’t recognize her now, and he had so many friends with him…
If they saw her like this…
Bai Xia felt her mind was in a whirl, unable to comprehend what she was worried about. But compared to being caught or collapsing in a stranger’s arms, being discovered by Mo Bai seemed like the best option. At least she knew something about this seemingly cold but actually kindhearted classmate.
Move, damn legs!
At least it’s better than becoming some old man’s plaything or experimental data!
Bai Xia tried to stand, but her slender legs felt like cotton candy. Despite gritting her teeth and using all her strength, she could only lean against the cold wall and slowly stand up, staggering towards the alley exit.
Her classmate might not be talkative, but he had a heart of gold. He often helped her with her studies and even lent her money when she was short. So, Bai Xia trusted her classmate’s character. After all… she had no other choice now.
“Mo… Mo ge!”
Her cry finally broke through her choked throat and echoed clearly in the quiet alley, causing Mo Bai, who had just passed the alley, to pause suddenly.
Had someone just called him?
He turned around, his clean white shirt fluttering in the night breeze. His usually calm eyes flickered with surprise, landing precisely on the white-haired girl who had just staggered out of the alley—her long white hair clung to her flushed cheeks, her pure white sundress was stained, and the strap had slipped to her elbow, exposing her pink-tinted skin. The girl’s ruby-red eyes were filled with tears, and she was running towards him with her last bit of strength, reaching out her slender hands.
“Save… save me…”
Before she could finish, Bai Xia’s legs gave out, and her small body stumbled forward—
Mo Bai instinctively rushed forward and caught the unfamiliar white-haired girl. Her small body crashed into his embrace, and she let out soft whimpers like a kitten.
“Mo Bai… what’s this?”
His classmates stared in shock at the scene. The usually aloof top student, Mo Bai, was being tightly embraced by a white-haired girl, almost knocked to the ground. Worse, the girl’s dress was disheveled, her strap had fallen, exposing large areas of her fair skin, and she seemed to be in a daze.
“Do you know this girl?” a male classmate asked, his eyes lingering on the girl’s delicate features.
“Uh…” After a moment of hesitation, Mo Bai nodded: “A friend of mine.”
In reality, Mo Bai had no idea who the white-haired girl in his arms was, but since she had called him “Mo ge,” she must be close to him. So, to avoid complications, he decided to acknowledge it.
Besides, he was the son of the Mo family. Who would dare to be familiar with him in public?
“You guys go ahead. I have some personal matters to attend to.”
Mo Bai calmly adjusted the girl’s fallen strap, his voice still composed.
His classmates exchanged meaningful glances but didn’t ask further. After all, the girl Mo Bai was holding was really beautiful, with porcelain skin glowing under the streetlights, long lashes, and tear-streaked eyes, looking utterly helpless.
Though curious about the sudden appearance of the white-haired beauty and her relationship with Mo Bai, they dared not ask, given his background. They were more like his followers than friends.
“Well… we’ll be going then.”
A few classmates bid farewell, stealing glances at the petite white-haired girl as they left. Once their footsteps faded, Mo Bai looked down at the girl in his arms and fell into a brief contemplation.
Under the streetlights, he gently swept aside the girl’s sweat-dampened white bangs, revealing her flawlessly beautiful face. Yet, no matter how he searched his memory, he found no trace of this white-haired girl.
So, the question was, if he didn’t recognize the girl, how could she call him by such an intimate name?
Mo Bai didn’t recall many people calling him that. The most frequent was probably his male classmate, but the girl before him was obviously not him. But it couldn’t be a coincidence, could it? If it was, it would be like randomly calling someone “Dad” on the street and actually getting it right. No, that comparison wasn’t quite right…
The thought of someone knowing his identity and trying to curry favor crossed Mo Bai’s mind, but he quickly dismissed it. The girl in his arms was burning up, her breathing rapid, clearly under the influence of a drug. Blood on her lips, scratches on her knees, disheveled clothes, and her slender fingers tightly gripping his collar, her small body trembling in his embrace—she didn’t seem to be acting.
Mo Bai looked down at the unfamiliar white-haired girl, his usually calm eyes now clouded with confusion and something else. His brow furrowed slightly.
“Mo ge… help me…”
Bai Xia managed to speak, her only hope now being her classmate. But after running to Mo Bai, she had exhausted her last bit of strength, and her sanity was quickly slipping away under the onslaught of desire. She could only bite down hard on her lip, blood trickling down her porcelain chin, but it couldn’t suppress her urge to lunge at the alluring neck before her.
No biting… not even my classmate…
Her white hair, damp with sweat, clung to her face. Gradually, her ruby-red eyes began to lose focus, her sharp fangs still biting into her lip, deepening the wound. Crimson droplets slid down her chin, glistening under the lights.
Even Mo Bai was at a loss. Should he call the police or take the girl home and wait for her to regain consciousness? After a brief struggle, Mo Bai chose the latter. The girl’s condition seemed to be deteriorating, and calling the police at this hour might take too long, especially with the girl’s bleeding lip.
Damn, it got on my shirt, and this is an expensive one…
“Be good… don’t bite yourself…”
Mo Bai sighed and gently soothed the girl, pressing his thumb against her bleeding lip. Intending to ease her clenched teeth, he accidentally got pricked by her small fangs.
Thus, a drop of blood slowly seeped from his fingertip, becoming the final straw that broke Bai Xia’s resolve…
