Bai Lan gazed at the Heavenly Dao Avatar, an exact replica of the goddess he had secretly admired in his previous life. His expression was profoundly complex.
For men, first loves always hold such a sway. Even if she never became his woman, that figure would forever occupy a significant place in his heart.
“Ah, very well then,” Bai Lan sighed, adjusting his mindset. “What exactly can you do for me?”
The Heavenly Dao Avatar offered a faint smile. In this new form, it no longer exuded the inhuman detachment from before.
This avatar had been crafted precisely from the image of the girl residing within Bai Lan’s heart, her personality mirroring that girl’s in every way.
“I am the Heavenly Dao of this world,” the avatar replied. “I possess intimate knowledge of everything within it. Whatever you wish to ask, I can answer. No living being of this heaven and earth can escape my sight.”
This ability alone was terrifyingly potent. Essentially, with the avatar by his side, Bai Lan would gain omniscience of the world.
“That is quite an extraordinary ability,” Bai Lan mused, his curiosity piqued about the rewards. “Can you tell me how I can obtain the rewards you mentioned?”
Knowing Bai Lan’s interest, the Heavenly Dao Avatar subtly curved her lips into a smile.
“Each time you achieve a major realm breakthrough, you may choose any cultivation method suitable for your current realm from me,” the Heavenly Dao Avatar explained.
“For every minor realm breakthrough, you can select a treasure appropriate for your current stage. Moreover, completing the ‘first’ task on your cultivation journey will grant you ‘Experience Points’.”
“These Experience Points can then be exchanged with me for a myriad of cultivation items, such as pills, weapons, armors… indeed, anything related to cultivators.”
As she finished speaking, she raised her hand and gently waved it. Suddenly, a gate-like structure materialized before Bai Lan.
The gate slowly parted, unleashing a torrent of radiant treasures that momentarily blinded Bai Lan. Yet, through the dazzling light, he glimpsed countless dazzling artifacts.
A peculiar thought struck him: the treasures he saw didn’t seem to be physically stored within the gate itself. They appeared more like projections from distant locations.
Nevertheless, their mere sight was enough to make anyone covet them.
“These?” Bai Lan inquired. “Are these treasures truly yours?”
However, the Heavenly Dao Avatar uttered a statement that left Bai Lan utterly bewildered.
“Naturally, they are mine,” the Heavenly Dao Avatar replied. “Anything that exists within this world belongs to me.”
Bai Lan was rendered speechless.
In truth, he understood perfectly well that he was merely fortunate, simply chosen by chance. While the Heavenly Dao Avatar couldn’t directly bestow heaven-defying abilities upon someone, she could effortlessly cultivate a powerful expert.
This implied that even if it hadn’t been him, she would have simply selected someone else.
“Alright then,” Bai Lan said, shifting topics. “By the way, where am I currently? How did I end up here?”
“You are currently in Eastern Continent, specifically the Eastern Sea Region, within a sect called the Luoshen Sect,” the Heavenly Dao Avatar explained.
“After fleeing the Xue Clan, the original owner of this body was teleported to an island in the Eastern Sea Region. They were then brought back by Bai Yiren, the Grand Elder of the Luoshen Sect.”
“The Luoshen Sect is an all-female sect, comprised solely of women. However, do not underestimate them; their founder, Luoshen, was an Ascension Realm expert.”
Bai Lan listened, a flicker of surprise crossing his face. The founder of his own Xue Clan had also been an Ascension Realm expert, known as the Snow God.
Now, the cultivation sect he found himself in also followed a divine lineage.
“So that’s why I’m dressed in women’s clothes,” Bai Lan murmured, feeling a sense of bewilderment. “Well, what should I do next?”
“That question, you need not ask me,” the Heavenly Dao Avatar replied, shaking her head. “I can only tell you everything you wish to know, but I cannot instruct you on how you should cultivate.”
Bai Lan paused, then pondered her words carefully. She was right. If the Heavenly Dao Avatar could directly teach him how to cultivate, what need would there be for his own effort?
“Alright then,” Bai Lan declared, deciding not to waste any more time. “For the sake of convenience in contacting you later, I’ll give you a name. How about Yun Yao? When I need to find you, I’ll call you that.”
“Hmm, no problem,” Yun Yao responded. “In that case, Bai Lan, to enhance your innate talent, you may now choose your first reward for arriving in this world. This world possesses countless powerful cultivation physiques, but among them, the Ten Great Divine Physiques reign supreme.”
“They are: the Saint Spirit Body, the Innate Body, the Undying Body, the Myriad Manifestation Body, the Linglong Body, the Immortal-Demon Body, the Human King Body, the Heavenly Demon Body, the Flying Immortal Body, and the Chaos Body. You may select one of these physiques to be your future cultivation physique.”
Bai Lan had learned about the Ten Great Divine Physiques from Xue Yue’s memories. These were truly one-in-a-million physiques, unparalleled throughout history, each one a peerless genius.
His previous Snow Divine Body, for instance, was an inherited physique, considered a mutated form of the Ice Spirit Body. However, even the Ice Spirit Body likely wouldn’t rank among the top hundred on the Divine Physique Ranking.
The Divine Physique Ranking was an ancient tome that cataloged all physiques throughout the cultivation world’s history. As the young master of the Eastern Continent’s Xue Clan, Xue Yue had been exposed to such knowledge since childhood.
Thus, Yun Yao had no need to elaborate on these physiques.
“Are you certain?” Bai Lan asked, a hint of disbelief in his voice. “If I simply choose, I’ll immediately possess one of these physiques?”
“That’s right. Make your choice,” Yun Yao affirmed, nodding her head.
Seeing her confirmation, Bai Lan immediately fell into deep contemplation, ultimately choosing the most mysterious physique among the Ten Great Divine Physiques.
“In that case, I choose the Chaos Body,” Bai Lan declared. “Legend says this is the most mysterious physique, with not even many records about it on the Divine Physique Ranking.”
Yun Yao smiled faintly, then slowly closed her eyes, her actions inscrutable. Approximately a minute later, a spatial rift tore open before her.
Once the rift appeared, Yun Yao directly plunged her hand into it, as if grasping for something. After about three minutes, she finally withdrew her hand, clutching a piece of purple, lustrous artifact.
This item resembled a jade, yet it emanated an incredibly terrifying aura.
“A Divine Bone?” Bai Lan blurted out.
Having once possessed a Divine Bone himself, he naturally recognized this object as the very emblem of a divine physique.
The moment the Divine Bone appeared, it was as if chaos itself was being born. In an instant, the stone chamber transformed into a chaotic world, a truly astonishing sight.
“This artifact is the Chaos Divine Bone,” Yun Yao stated, gazing at the divine bone continuously emanating power in her hand.
“Your original Snow Divine Bone was excavated, so this provides a perfect opportunity to fuse with a new one. However, as this isn’t something you were born with, it will require some time to properly integrate once it’s within your body.”
For some inexplicable reason, Bai Lan sensed that the divine bone was resisting Yun Yao, as if attempting to escape her grasp.
“I understand,” Bai Lan nodded, a hint of excitement in his voice.
Yun Yao said nothing further. She then seized the divine bone and swiftly struck Bai Lan’s chest at the position of the Heavenly Gate.
The action was so sudden that Bai Lan had no time to react. The moment the divine bone entered his body, it began to violently resist, its immense force instantly tearing at Bai Lan’s soul.
After all, a divine bone entering the body required fusion with both the physical form and the soul.
“Ah…!” Bai Lan let out an agonizing shriek of pain.
“Damn it, why is it so painful?” Bai Lan exclaimed, his face contorted in agony as he glared at Yun Yao. “Why didn’t you warn me to prepare myself?”
