Holy crap! A beauty!

Chapter 4674 words6 min read

Outside Xiaoyue Middle School.

The taxi halted at the entrance.

Lan Ruobing pushed open the door, her fair legs quickly carrying her into the school.

“Young lady! Are you truly not going to reconsider?”

From behind her, the old driver’s voice called out.

“Thank you, driver! I’m going to be late for my exam, so I’ll be going now! Goodbye!”

Lan Ruobing ran even faster, without a backward glance.

“Haah… haah…”

Once inside the school gates, Lan Ruobing gasped for air, her hands resting on her thighs as she took deep, ragged breaths.

‘It was too… too terrifying!’

A shiver ran down Lan Ruobing’s spine whenever she thought of that old driver.

The moment she got into the car, he had asked if she had a boyfriend.

Upon hearing she didn’t, he grew even more animated, launching into a fervent discussion.

He had called her ‘young lady’ this and ‘young lady’ that, then proceeded to share his dating wisdom, drawing from his own experience.

He even seized the opportunity to promote his son, praising him endlessly as an ability user, recounting all his virtues until her ears grew numb.

He even claimed his son worked at an Ability User Bureau, enjoying excellent pay and benefits…

‘Excellent pay and benefits my foot! He’s probably just a security guard! Security guards work at the Ability User Bureau too.’

After silently grumbling a few times, she let out a long sigh.

Raising her head, she began to walk further into the school.

That familiar gaze fell upon her again, this time from many directions.

Lan Ruobing instinctively brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and hurried along, her head bowed.

Such attention was unavoidable.

Had it been her old self, she too might have snuck a couple of glances, just to feast her eyes.

But it didn’t matter.

‘Who cares?’ she thought. ‘They can do whatever they want, as long as they don’t bother or disgust me.’

Ever since her parents’ car accident, she had grown accustomed to being alone, to having no friends, to being marginalized.

As long as it wasn’t too excessive, she could endure it.

“Hey, hey, look! A beauty! Even prettier than the campus belle!”

Someone tapped the person behind them, who turned around teasingly.

“Huh? Prettier than the campus belle? You’re probably… Holy crap! A beauty!”

Immediately, he pulled out his phone to record a video.

‘Must save this. Can watch it again tonight…’

“Damn, you’re honest and quick on the draw!”

The other person exclaimed, also pulling out their phone.

“Holy crap! This girl is stunning! I’m going to ask for her contact!”

Someone took the first step, eager to try.

Then came a second, a third…

The girl looked so innocent, so untouched by the world.

Approaching her now for her contact information had a high chance of success.

“Hello, young lady, are you here for the Ability User College Entrance Exam? I’m a receptionist, responsible for guiding students and registering their information.”

A beautiful young woman in a red volunteer uniform had appeared before Lan Ruobing.

Her approach was likely because Lan Ruobing’s naturally blue-and-white hair and striking blue eyes made her look exactly like a special ability user.

“Um… hello,” Lan Ruobing replied politely, then looked past the volunteer, her eyes widening in shock.

“What’s wrong?” the pretty young woman asked, puzzled, turning to follow Lan Ruobing’s gaze.

“Miss, what’s your name!”

“Miss, are you alone!”

“Miss, can I get your contact information!”

A group of fervent people surged forward, pushing and shoving, startling Lan Ruobing into retreating repeatedly.

‘Oh my god, what are these dark masses doing?!’

“You all shouldn’t… Ah!”

The pretty young woman turned back to stop them, only to be instantly swamped.

The situation was dire!

Lan Ruobing made a split-second decision and turned to run, only to crash head-on into another dark mass of people, shoving and rushing towards her.

“What the hell is going on? Don’t come any closer!”

Panicked and disoriented, she couldn’t find an exit, leaving her utterly helpless.
