I’m Not a Les

Chapter 41,087 words10 min read

Lin Wanzhao radiated an alluring aura that seemed to saturate the air around her.

Yu Qingkong clenched her fists, steadying her mind, and forced a smile with a polite nod.

“I’m truly sorry, but I have things to do.”

“I see… okay.”

Hearing this, Lin Wanzhao nodded while stroking her arm, watching Yu Qingkong exit the office.

She stared at the door thoughtfully for a moment before picking up her phone to call her friend, Wang Yuxin.

“Accompany me for dinner tonight. Let’s go to that ‘internet-famous’ place that’s been trending lately—Star Lake Fish Village.”

“Sure. By the way, are you free this weekend? I found a girl who is totally your type; want me to introduce you? Seriously, you talk about wanting a hookup but never take action. What’s the plan, a rendezvous in your dreams?”

Lin Wanzhao chuckled. “I was just talking. Don’t introduce anyone to me anymore.”

On the other side, once Yu Qingkong returned to her own office, the breath she had been holding finally escaped in a rush of relief.

She didn’t want to date, regardless of whether the person was a man or a woman…

And she certainly didn’t want to fall into some ambiguous, messy relationship.

However, the moment she sat down, Lin Wanzhao’s image surfaced in her mind again, causing her to unconsciously raise a hand to touch her lips.

That night, that damn sweetness… why couldn’t she forget it?

Pushing off the desk with her palms, Yu Qingkong and her chair rolled back a meter.

As the swivel chair swayed, she rubbed her forehead, desperately trying to discard those memories.

In the blink of an eye, it was 5:30 PM.

After checking a batch of inventory with her assistant, Yu Qingkong left the company and drove toward Star Lake Fish Village.

The location was a bit remote, but the flavors were excellent and the ingredients fresh. Combined with heavy advertising, it was currently a hotspot.

Most people had to book in advance to secure a table.

Upon arrival, Yu Qingkong spotted Lu Xiaoxiao from a distance and walked over to sit down.

“There was some traffic on the way; I’m late.”

“It’s fine,” Lu Xiaoxiao nodded, pointing at the dishes on the table. “See if there’s anything else you want to eat; just call the waiter to add more.”

“No need,” Yu Qingkong shook her head.

“Then have some wine.”

After pouring a glass for herself, Lu Xiaoxiao prepared to pour one for Yu Qingkong.

“No thanks, I’m driving.”

Yu Qingkong placed her hand over her glass to block it.

“Fair enough. So, why did you suddenly ask me out for dinner? Are you going to tell me you were fired and you’re going to help Tingting sell fake shoes?” Lu Xiaoxiao teased.

“No, it’s just a meal…”

Yu Qingkong pinched the bridge of her nose, then looked up at her and beckoned. “Come here.”

“Huh?”

Lu Xiaoxiao was dazed for a second, then stood up and walked over to her. “What?”

“Look at me. Get a little closer.”

Yu Qingkong stared straight into her eyes.

Lu Xiaoxiao also belonged to the “radiantly beautiful” type, but strangely, no matter how Yu Qingkong looked at her, she felt absolutely nothing.

“What’s wrong?” Lu Xiaoxiao blinked at her.

“Can you…”

Yu Qingkong narrowed her eyes, rubbing her index finger and thumb together.

“Add a bit more… seductive intent into your eyes?”

“What? You want me to seduce you?”

Lu Xiaoxiao was completely bewildered. She scratched her head, then placed a hand on Yu Qingkong’s shoulder.

“Sure, why don’t I just sit on your lap while I’m at it?”

“Don’t—”

Yu Qingkong hurriedly waved her hand. “This outfit of mine is very expensive and delicate.”

However, she was now certain; she had zero desire for Lu Xiaoxiao.

“Tch,” Lu Xiaoxiao pouted and sat back down. “Then confess. What were you testing just now? Testing if you have feelings for women? Testing if you’re gay?”

Yu Qingkong’s hand, which had just picked up her chopsticks, paused.

“No… I mean, why do you always think I’m gay? Do I look like it?”

“Yes, you do. You look more like a ‘les’ than you look like your own father,” Lu Xiaoxiao nodded.

Yu Qingkong served herself a bowl of soup, her lips curling into a smile as she looked up.

“If my dad heard you say that, believe it or not, he’d come running from the fields with a hoe to split you open.”

“Speaking of which, are your parents still refusing to move to the city?” Lu Xiaoxiao asked.

“Yeah, stubborn. They say the blue mountains are their bones and the green waters are their flesh; leaving the countryside would be like tearing them apart.”

A trace of fatigue showed on Yu Qingkong’s face.

Lu Xiaoxiao shrugged and nodded, then returned to the main topic.

“Seriously, there’s a reason I think you’re gay. In the past, I didn’t have any gay friends around me, so I didn’t think there were many. It wasn’t until Wang Min got a girlfriend that I realized—wow, this isn’t that rare. And you? You don’t date, and you’ve always been popular with women. The more I look at you, the more ‘les’ you seem, haha.”

“Don’t even mention Wang Min. If she hadn’t said she was so heartbroken she wanted to fly from the 27th floor into the earth’s embrace, I wouldn’t have gone to Snake. And then I wouldn’t have done something so… unbelievable…”

Yu Qingkong abruptly cut herself off, changing the subject. “Do you want a drink?”

“Hey, what unbelievable thing? Keep going!”

However, Lu Xiaoxiao was now intrigued, ignoring the offer of a drink.

“Nothing. Just eat.”

Agitated, Yu Qingkong used a slotted spoon to scoop a large pile of fish into Lu Xiaoxiao’s bowl.

“Oh, fine.”

Lu Xiaoxiao nodded and began to eat.

They chatted as they ate for nearly an hour before the meal concluded. After some more small talk, they settled the bill and prepared to head home.

***********************************

Stepping out of the Fish Village, Yu Qingkong watched Lu Xiaoxiao leave before opening her car door and getting in.

After buckling her seatbelt, she leaned back against the driver’s seat and let out a sigh.

Lu Xiaoxiao’s words echoed in her mind. She closed her eyes.

It shouldn’t be… something like being gay… how could I be? How could I live over twenty years without knowing?
