Surrounded by Corpses

Chapter 4 (Part 2) • 1,924 words • 17 min read

Ren Anhua was not normally a shy person, but she didn’t say a single word during dinner.

She hadn’t felt anything when she first woke up, nor when Bai Rui pulled her away to change clothes, but now that she was quietly eating, she felt that something was wrong everywhere.

The cherry-pink strands of hair that occasionally drifted past her eyes, the slender hands that were impossible to ignore in her line of sight, and the unfamiliar constricting feeling of the silk fabric wrapped tightly around her lower body.

Especially the taut silk clinging obediently between her legs made her keenly feel that she was missing a piece, further intensifying the sense of loss that came whenever she brought her legs together.

Everything seemed to be a constant reminder of her current gender, and all of it made Ren Anhua feel inexplicably uneasy.

‘I have to get the core as soon as possible,’ Ren Anhua thought to herself.

Apart from the silent Ren Anhua, the atmosphere at dinner was very harmonious.

The relationship between the women in the team and Lu Shanshui didn’t seem as sordid as Ren Anhua had imagined.

Everyone chatted and laughed while maintaining an appropriate distance.

It wasn’t the scene Ren Anhua had pictured, with Lu Shanshui leaning back in a large chair, one woman on his lap, one in each arm, being fed bites from the left and right by women holding chopsticks and spoons.

They talked about family matters, about the past, about memories and the future.

Occasionally, someone would tell a joke, making Ren Anhua feel a warmth like that of a family.

It reminded her of the early days of the apocalypse, struggling to survive, huddled with a few trusted friends, eating charred chunks of mutated beast meat.

Speaking of friends, she wondered how those old friends who had decided to stay at the military base were doing.

Although she had trade relations with the base, she had rarely gone there since leaving to establish her own camp.

Since leaving the military base and setting up her own banner as a leader, how long had it been since she’d eaten a meal like this?

The only one who dared to be close to her was that little fanboy, Meng Fanhai.

Her other subordinates always seemed timid and fearful around her.

And the woman she liked, Lin Aijing, she always ate quietly.

If she took the initiative to speak to her, Lin Aijing naturally wouldn’t dare not to answer, but Ren Anhua knew very well that wasn’t the kind of conversation she wanted.

She wondered what had happened to her own subordinates.

Meng Fanhai should be able to manage everything.

Although his usual performance was just simple admiration for her, Ren Anhua knew that Meng Fanhai was a talented individual.

He had outstanding strength and a quick mind, but he had started out under protection in the safe zone and lacked some apocalyptic experience.

She had always been grooming him as her second-in-command.

She hoped that during this brief departure, he would not disappoint her.

As she thought about it, Ren Anhua felt an inexplicable urge to go back and check on the situation.

Although with Meng Fanhai there, the survivor camp wouldn’t be without a leader, she still couldn’t let go of that woman—Lin Aijing.

Dinner quickly ended amidst Ren Anhua’s wandering thoughts.

To her surprise, Bai Rui, who was dressed like a little princess, actually helped with the dishes.

Ren Anhua wanted to help too, but Bai Rui refused on the grounds that she was wearing long gloves.

When Ren Anhua said it wasn’t a problem and she could take them off, Bai Rui fiercely warned her not to.

Bai Rui seemed to have an inexplicable obsession with her completed “works.”

Ren Anhua wasn’t sure how long this “no taking it off” rule would last.

She couldn’t possibly sleep in them, right?

Although she used to sleep in her clothes often, a shirt and a pair of shorts weren’t much to take off.

There weren’t so many formalities in the apocalypse.

The main issue was that sleeping in this incredibly complex outfit would be uncomfortable.

Ren Anhua highly doubted she could fall asleep wearing this Western-style dress.

Speaking of sleep, this was another thing that Ren Anhua found incredible.

Lu Shanshui and the other five women actually slept in separate rooms!

The RV was divided into two levels.

The lower level was the living room and kitchen.

Further back was a locked door.

According to Lu Shanshui, inside was a subspace attached through anchoring.

The fresh fruits and vegetables from earlier were grown inside, and it also served as a storage area.

The upper level had two bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as a locked laboratory that was off-limits to the team.

Only Ke Xingmei knew what was inside.

Ren Anhua guessed that this venomous woman with the bio-modification ability probably conducted some unknown experiments in there from time to time.

For a small RV, this amount of space was already very generous.

Perhaps due to her current size, Ren Anhua even felt it was like a normal residential house.

But the two bedrooms weren’t very large; one could house three people at most.

The Ke sisters and Xu Huairou lived together.

Bai Rui and Ashe-wen lived together.

Lu Shanshui had always slept on the sofa in the living room.

However, the sofa was designed to be laid flat, making do as a single bed, which had never been a problem.

But today, the team had one more person, Ren Anhua, which meant that one of them had to sleep on the floor.

Bai Rui did offer to let Ren Anhua sleep in her bedroom, but her roommate Ashe-wen refused.

The layout of the living room was flexible.

Inside the slightly cramped vehicle, one side was a sofa, and the other was a table.

The table could be folded against the wall.

When extended, a bench would fold out on the side opposite the sofa, allowing people to sit on both sides of the table.

It was usually only set up during meals and was otherwise folded away.

Sleeping on the sofa or the floor, that was the question.

Clearly, Lu Shanshui had no intention of being courteous.

He pulled out a blanket, took off his black trench coat, and eagerly lay down on the sofa to declare his sovereignty.

Ren Anhua’s eyelids twitched twice.

“What? You feel too embarrassed to go up and screw your little girlfriends with me here? Go on, I don’t mind.”

“What are you even talking about? We’ve already had a whole meal together. Can’t you see that I’m not actually in that kind of relationship with them?”

“Hmph. As an experienced man, let me share some wisdom with you. I guarantee at least four of those women are quite interested in you. After the housing arrangements were confirmed, I could feel several worried glances aimed at me as they went upstairs.”

Ren Anhua crossed her arms in front of her chest and continued.

“Of course, I can understand. After all, my current appearance, being with you, makes them feel a bit threatened. Women generally have a strong sense of possession, especially these young girls. They’re also too shy to say it first, but their actions and small gestures have already betrayed their intentions.”

“I can guarantee that if you were the one to go up, they definitely wouldn’t refuse. You would surely have a wonderful night of passion.”

Ren Anhua felt something was off, and added another sentence.

“Naturally, in the end, they accepted this room arrangement because they sensed my righteous essence, full of masculine aura. That’s why they refused to sleep with me. After all, they like you.”

Ren Anhua stared at Lu Shanshui with an expression that said, ‘Go, young man, create humanity.’

When Lu Shanshui heard “a wonderful night of passion,” he seemed somewhat tempted.

But after hearing the last sentence, he said nothing, glanced down, and noticed that this person, Ren Anhua, had naturally reverted to her girlish, pigeon-toed stance.

He let out a scoff through his nose at Ren Anhua’s “righteous essence, full of masculine aura,” and then pulled the blanket tighter.

“The sofa is mine. No discussion. If you want a blanket, get one from that cabinet. The carpet is clean. We always change our shoes when we enter the vehicle, and we wash it often, so don’t worry about it being dirty.”

With that, he turned on his side and closed his eyes.

You can never wake a person who is pretending to be asleep.

Ren Anhua experienced this firsthand today.

After staring at the bastard for a while, Ren Anhua suddenly felt the urge to pee.

She couldn’t help it; she had drunk a bit too much of the vegetable soup earlier.

It had been too long since she had tasted that clear, fresh flavor.

She decided to go to the toilet first.

Come to think of it, this was her first time going to the toilet since her gender change.

Ren Anhua stood in front of the toilet, lifted her little skirt, thought for a moment, and gave up on this operation that was a bit too difficult for her.

She pulled down her pumpkin shorts and obediently sat on the toilet.

The way girls peed was quite different from boys.

Ren Anhua only felt a warm stream of fluid scatter along the crevices after she relaxed, and the area below was soaked.

After she was done, she subconsciously tried to shake it off, but no matter how she wiggled her little butt, she couldn’t get it clean.

It still felt wet.

Ren Anhua was a little helpless.

She slightly activated her high-temperature ability.

If it was just a localized activation, Ren Anhua was confident she wouldn’t ruin her clothes.

With a tsss sound, like red-hot steel being plunged into water, the area below the girl became dry again, but a distinct smell of urine spread through the air, making her blush slightly.

“A girl’s body really is troublesome.”

After getting dressed again, Ren Anhua thought about what had just happened, her chaotic thoughts unable to return to normal.

She wasn’t a virgin, after all.

Since the apocalypse began, what woman couldn’t Ren Anhua have if she wanted?

Why did she feel so uneasy after becoming a woman?

It wasn’t the first time she had seen a female body, and this was only temporary.

As for that Lu Shanshui, one look and you could tell he was still a virgin.

Living with five women, and it had been two months since the apocalypse.

In a way, he was truly a talent.

Amidst her wandering thoughts, Ren Anhua heard a suppressed roar and was instantly on alert.

People surviving in the apocalypse were very sensitive to this kind of sound because it was the roar of a zombie.

She quickly went down to the first floor and saw Lu Shanshui squatting by the curtained window, peeking outside like a thief.

This guy really hadn’t been asleep.

“What’s the situation outside?”

Ren Anhua quickly walked over, wanting to look out the window.

“Shh, don’t make a sound. We’re surrounded by a zombie horde.”

Lu Shanshui pressed down on Ren Anhua’s head.

Ren Anhua shook her head from side to side, shrugging off Lu Shanshui’s hand, and looked outside, a chill running through her heart.

A dense horde of zombies surrounded the vehicle, completely blocking the entire road.
