## Chapter 4

After the morning’s minor incident, Lisbeth arrived at the Demon Lord’s Castle hall punctually.

As she passed through the grand entrance, her gaze was immediately drawn to two imposing staircases, one on each side. The maids, clad in uniforms identical to those in human kingdoms, now stood solemnly on either side of these staircases, their expressions grave.

Her eyes then drifted upwards, to the second floor, where a colossal door stood majestically above the two staircases. If her suspicions were correct, this grand portal likely led to the Demon Lord’s chambers.

‘Oh? This really hasn’t changed at all,’ she mused. ‘I didn’t expect their chambers to have been like this even back then~’

“You’re mumbling to yourself again. Hurry up and get into position.”

As Lisbeth continued to observe the hall, Hilda’s voice suddenly materialized behind her.

Hearing her words, Lisbeth gestured towards the maids already stationed by the staircases. “I *want* to get into position,” she explained, “but I have no idea which side I’m supposed to stand on.”

“Neither side. You’re with me.”

“Huh?”

With that declaration, Hilda took Lisbeth’s hand and led her directly to the center of the assembled maids.

Once they were both standing firmly before the group, Hilda cleared her throat softly. “Everyone,” she announced to all the maids present, “before the Demon Lord awakens today, allow me to introduce a new recruit. Her name is Lisbeth, and starting today, she will be working alongside us in service of the Demon Lord. Lisbeth, please introduce yourself.”

“Understood~”

Despite being the focus of so many eyes, Lisbeth showed no trace of shyness. Instead, she stepped forward with a sweet smile, addressing everyone slowly.

“Hello, everyone. As Head Maid Hilda just introduced, I am Lisbeth, the newest addition to your ranks today. So, if there’s anything I don’t understand, I hope you’ll all be kind enough to guide me~”

“Hmm, a very good introduction,” Hilda commented. “However, there’s one point I need to clarify: your position is actually somewhat different from theirs.”

Just as Lisbeth finished her introduction, Hilda interjected, continuing to address all the maids present. “I believe you’ve already noticed Lisbeth’s uniform, and your assumptions would be correct.”

“While Lisbeth is a newcomer, she is also the sixth personal attendant exclusive to the Demon Lord. Therefore, she is also your superior. I trust you will all understand this clearly. Now, enough talk. Let us welcome this new addition to our ranks~”

Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap~

As Hilda’s words faded, all the maids present burst into applause, their faces alight with joyful smiles. However, Lisbeth, the object of their welcome, stood utterly dumbfounded.

She leaned towards Hilda, whispering, “Hey, old hag, what’s this about a personal attendant? I never heard anything about that!”

“Hmph, playing innocent after getting a good deal,” Hilda scoffed. “The position of personal attendant isn’t something just anyone can hold. Just accept it obediently.”

“Heh,” Lisbeth retorted, “I bet you gave me this empty title so you could thoroughly monitor me, didn’t you? But fine, whatever.”

Though Lisbeth had initially been taken aback, she quickly pieced together the underlying reason once she calmed down.

Unlike the numerous ordinary maids who worked in groups, a select few personal attendants would be much easier to keep an eye on.

“Tsk, I didn’t realize you weren’t entirely clueless,” Hilda remarked. “However, this is no empty title. The other personal attendants will be arriving shortly, and you’ll need to introduce yourself properly to them.”

“I understand,” Lisbeth replied. “But as a newcomer, please allow me to do something for my seniors first~”

As Lisbeth’s words concluded, she suddenly raised her voice, addressing everyone present. “Therefore, as the newly appointed personal attendant, please allow me to be the one to awaken the Demon Lord today~”

“What!?”
