The Witches’ Actions

Chapter 41,257 words11 min read

“Little Evetti still isn’t back yet.”

“I’m truly worried about her.

That human male wouldn’t dare lay a hand on her, would he?”

“No, this won’t do.

I need to go out and find her.”

Several witches, each with differently colored hair, found themselves unable to sit still.

However, Lammiell slowly rose from her workstation.

“Everyone, Little Evetti is hardly a cause for our concern.

He is merely a human male.

If Little Evetti can’t even handle such a small inconvenience, how could she be called the child of the Great Witch?”

“But she’s been gone for nearly two hours!

Who wouldn’t be worried?”

A witch with blue curly hair retorted.

“Heh heh, Little Evetti is still a child.

It’s perfectly normal for her to be distracted by human things.

Perhaps she’s stopped at some amusement park to play.”

Lammiell chuckled softly.

Her demeanor remained remarkably calm, as she harbored considerable trust in Evetti.

Ding-a-ling—ding-a-ling.

A rhythmic bell sound drifted from the distance, signaling that someone had arrived outside the witches’ company.

“Listen, Little Evetti is back.”

No sooner had Lammiell spoken than a witch with yellow curly hair abruptly stood up.

Her movement was so swift that she knocked over her water cup, and she looked at Lammiell with a deep frown.

“Lammiell.”

“What is it, Tei Lai?”

“There’s an outsider’s aura, and it’s not just Evetti’s.”

“An outsider?”

The topic of outsiders was particularly sensitive among the witches.

Nearly all of them ceased their work, their eyes widening as they collectively stared towards the door.

The witches’ company, suspended in mid-air, was absolutely not a place normal people could reach.

Furthermore, numerous magical spells and artifacts protected its exterior.

“Level two alert.

Everyone prepare your wands.”

Lammiell made an immediate decision.

The witches swiftly drew their respective wands from the compartments beneath their workstations, as if preparing to face a formidable enemy.

At that moment, Evetti was carrying Chen Zeyu as they descended to the company’s entrance.

“This landing spot is truly perilous.”

Chen Zeyu remarked, turning her head to glance behind her.

Hundreds of meters below lay the city’s nightscape, while the gap between their landing point and the massive door was barely half a meter.

Simply standing there was unnerving enough.

“Witches can fly, so a little danger is perfectly normal.

Don’t move around too much; I’m going to knock.”

Evetti said, putting away her wand and gently tapping on the crystal-colored door with her right hand.

Thump, thump, thump.

The sound was surprisingly heavy, completely lacking the crisp resonance one would expect from crystal.

Chen Zeyu stared at the door, which stood at least five meters tall, and involuntarily swallowed.

‘What did the witches’ company look like?’

Chen Zeyu’s curious answer lay hidden behind the door.

As Evetti’s knocking ceased, the door sensed their presence and slowly began to swing inward.

“Hold my hand, so you don’t get lost.”

Evetti offered her hand to Chen Zeyu.

“Are you treating me like a child?”

Chen Zeyu frowned.

“But you are, right now.”

Evetti stated calmly, simply relaying the facts.

“Tsk, it’s not your fault.”

Chen Zeyu grumbled, but she still placed her hand in hers.

“That’s why I’m responsible for you, isn’t that what you said?”

Evetti squeezed her hand a little tighter.

“Alright, alright, I can’t win with you.”

Chen Zeyu conceded, giving up on arguing and turning her attention to the front.

Through the crack in the door, firefly-sized specks of light seeped out, accompanied by an unknown floral fragrance.

Just inhaling it felt refreshing and invigorating.

Thump.

The massive door swung fully open, resting against the wall.

From the darkness, a red carpet unfurled like a wave, drawing along with it a series of yellow crystal lamps on the ceiling.

These lights illuminated the display cases filled with specimens that lined both sides of the hallway, freeing them from the gloom.

The fringe of the red carpet settled at Chen Zeyu’s feet.

Before she could react, she was suddenly lifted!

“What in the world is this carpet?!”

Chen Zeyu exclaimed, losing her balance and nearly falling backward.

Fortunately, Evetti, who was beside her, steadied her.

“Don’t be nervous.

Mr. Red Carpet, please take us to the second-floor workshop.”

Evetti said, standing perfectly steady.

She then used her wand to close the large door.

The red carpet began to undulate, moving like a nimble giant snake.

Chen Zeyu, standing on its back, felt as if she were surfing, unable to even take a full breath, and even closing her eyes in tension.

Scratch, scratch.

The friction sound shifted from high to low, as if transitioning abruptly from a confined space to an expansive one.

Chen Zeyu could still feel the undulations beneath her feet, but the amplitude was significantly smaller than when they had first entered.

“Don’t be scared.

There’s nothing to worry about if you open your eyes and look.”

Evetti’s voice was gentle, like someone coaxing a child.

“Tsk, I’m afraid I’ll fall.”

“Then, Mr. Red Carpet, would you please slow down a bit?”

No sooner had Evetti spoken than Chen Zeyu distinctly felt her body lose weight, but it quickly settled into a balanced speed of movement.

‘It should be about time.’

Chen Zeyu thought, opening her eyes.

The interior of the witches’ company was revealed without reservation before her.

Countless tapestries crisscrossed between the brown-yellow walls, forming a simple transportation system.

The spaces between the walls served as the witches’ company’s exhibition area, much like a museum.

The red carpet turned a corner and ascended a staircase with golden railings leading to the second floor.

As their elevation increased, a colossal ancient tree became clearly visible, standing majestically in the very center, its height seemingly reaching for the clouds.

It was even adorned with mushrooms of various shapes and sizes.

Chen Zeyu’s mouth hung slightly open, her eyes fixed in awe, while a faint smile touched Evetti’s lips.

“It would be a huge loss not to look, wouldn’t it?

Look all you want, but that’s not the immediate priority.”

Chen Zeyu reined in her surging curiosity and turned her gaze to the red carpet’s destination: a double-door with a glassy texture.

“Mhm, we’ll see the seniors soon.

For now, don’t say anything; I’ll explain everything clearly.”

As Evetti was giving instructions, her hand naturally loosened.

But in the very next instant, both Chen Zeyu and she felt their feet lighten.

Bang!

The red carpet suddenly lurched, catching the two silver-haired lolis completely off guard and flinging them in entirely different directions!

Whoosh, whoosh!

Two streaks of extreme speed, one green and one yellow, shot out from the company’s shadows, intercepting the two silver-haired lolis in mid-air.

“Tei Lai!

I’ve caught Little Evetti!”

“Lammiell!

Huh?

You caught Evetti?

Then who am I holding?!”

The momentarily violent red carpet subsided.

The two witches, each holding their respective ‘Evetti,’ converged, and both looked down at the person in their arms.

Both ‘Evettis’ had spirals spinning in their eyes from the sudden jolt, but their clothes were different.

Lammiell was somewhat bewildered.

She was indeed holding Evetti, but the person Tei Lai was holding was also Evetti.

“Lammiell, I don’t detect any threat.

There are no magic fluctuations, and the barrier is still functioning normally.”

“I know, Tei Lai.

We’ll just have to wait for them to wake up and ask.”

Chen Zeyu’s face was reflected in Lammiell’s green eyes, and her brow furrowed slightly.

‘It seems the situation is smaller than expected, but also more troublesome than anticipated.’
