A Midnight Feast and a Horrifying Revelation

Chapter 40 • 1,139 words • 10 min read

How had things come to this?

Chloe lay on an unfamiliar bed, her nostrils filled with the long-settled scent of chamomile, while beside her, an alluring maiden slept soundly. While this situation was undeniably advantageous for Chloe, its sheer unexpected favorability left her utterly perplexed. Fortunately, Tia had not invited her to bed out of a sudden burst of passion; after bidding Chloe “goodnight,” she had simply drifted off to sleep.

Yet Chloe found no rest, unable to fathom Tia’s abrupt actions. If this was meant as an apology, why would it involve sleeping together, an act so laden with myriad implications? Was it an attempt to convey a sense of trust, indicating she could entrust her back to Chloe?

Regardless of the reason, Chloe’s thoughts were in disarray; her carefully laid plans for gradual progression had been upended.

“Hmph… Yilan…”

Seriously, even in her sleep, she’s thinking of Yilan? She’s clearly sleeping with me, Chloe! How can she call out someone else’s name?

Though they were sleeping together, there was none of the interaction typically associated with sharing a bed. The two simply occupied separate halves of the large bed. However, given Chloe’s petite stature and Tia’s habit of sleeping alone, Chloe’s space was occasionally encroached upon; had she not continuously shifted outwards, their two bodies would have long since pressed tightly together. It was a mercy the bed was so spacious, otherwise Chloe would have been shoved right off.

Lying on her back, Chloe kept her eyes wide open in the impenetrable darkness, seeing nothing, yet unable to sleep even an iota. Beyond her restless mind, the more pressing reason was her gnawing hunger. Sleeping on an empty stomach was a torment; the pangs of starvation consumed everything.

So hungry… She had believed she could last until morning, but now her stomach was rumbling insistently. If a solution wasn’t found, she feared she wouldn’t sleep a wink tonight.

Chloe weakly pressed her stomach, then turned her head to glance at Tia. Hadn’t she just absorbed dark energy not long ago? Her body must be brimming with impurities now, right? Swallowing hard, Chloe felt a sudden craving.

Tia had initially fallen asleep with her back to Chloe, but somehow, in her slumber, she had turned over. By the faint sliver of moonlight, Chloe could dimly discern Tia’s face in the darkness, and the sight of her slightly parted red lips, exhaling warm breaths, captivated her.

Could I directly draw impurities from her mouth? Logically, they should be present in her bodily fluids. A daring thought sparked in Chloe’s mind. Just a quick taste… she won’t notice… just a tiny bit, enough to get through the night…

Chloe stealthily rose, crawling on her knees across the bed. Hee hee… Cautiously, she drew closer to Tia’s face; in the darkness, those vibrant red lips seemed to possess a magnetic pull.

“Pop~”

Mmm… that quantity seems a bit too small… but it’s fine, any food is good food… Feeling a trickle of energy surge into her body, every cell within her seemed to activate. What Chloe herself failed to notice was that her pupils had once again transformed into heart shapes, brimming with affection.

Oh no… I can’t seem to stop… Mmm, so sweet… I don’t care… she won’t wake up anyway…

Engrossed in her feeding, Chloe grew careless; her long golden hair brushed against Tia’s face.

“Ugh!”

Suddenly, a low moan escaped Tia’s lips, instantly sending a cold sweat down Chloe’s spine. Reactively, she shot backward, bolting into the covers at top speed, feigning sleep. She suddenly felt utterly deluded; how could a magical girl of Tia’s caliber sleep like a log?

Chloe, frantically concocting excuses, waited anxiously for a long time, yet Tia’s wrath never materialized.

“Mmm… no…”

In the darkness, aside from the wind outside the window, Chloe heard only strange moans emanating from behind her. They sounded agonizing. Chloe turned inquisitively to look at Tia.

Tia’s eyes remained tightly shut, her brows furrowed in a deep frown; her entire face was pale, like that of a patient suffering through illness, and a fine sheen of sweat dotted her forehead. Even more unsettling, her body pulsed with waves of dark energy, resembling thick, black smoke rising from something scorched.

Chloe suddenly understood: Tia’s so-called negative effects from impurities were likely manifesting just like this. How could a magical girl freely absorb dark energy without facing any consequences? This explained why Tia was so eager to use Chloe’s body to purge these impurities; after all, if every night were like this, how could she ever get any sleep? Chloe suspected that Tia’s terrible mental state when they first met was likely due to prolonged torment from the impurities within her.

It turns out, it’s not just me who can’t do without you; you can’t do without me either, hee hee~

At the thought of these possibilities, Chloe instantly felt a surge of schadenfreude, her lips curling into a smug smile, revealing her canine teeth.

Isn’t this just a buffet? Chloe’s eyes gleamed.

At that moment, a strange transformation occurred: Tia’s eyes suddenly snapped open, no longer their usual violet hue, but instead glowing with pink heart shapes. Just as they had in the car.

This is bad…

Chloe was seized by a terrible premonition; Tia, tormented simultaneously by pain and desire, would likely do something extraordinary. Though she hungered for these impurities, her life was paramount, so Chloe opted for a tactical retreat.

Yet, how could Tia, awakened in such a state, possibly let her go?

“Impurities… must be purged…”

She seized Chloe’s ankle, yanking her forcefully into her embrace.

“Uwah! No… not again… not this…” Tia held the alluring girl tightly, using her knees to press upwards from beneath Chloe’s thighs, then spreading them apart.

“No! We had an agreement! You can’t do this!” Chloe struggled violently; her legs were pinned, so she used all her strength to push away her assailant with her hands.

Displeased by her prey’s resistance, Tia brutally clamped her hand around the girl’s throat.

“Ugh… ugh…” With her oxygen supply severed, her brain instantly screamed a warning; the light dimmed, copious tears welled in her eyes, and saliva drooled from her parted lips. Her eyes were on the verge of rolling back, and in the second before she lost consciousness, the constriction on her neck finally loosened.

“Ah-ha… ha… I almost… died…” Her lungs desperately gulped in air, her small tongue involuntarily darting out.

Just as she managed to catch her breath, the corner of her eye caught sight of a deep black mass, distinct against the nighttime backdrop.

Between her forcibly splayed legs, a thick tentacle had appeared, seemingly from nowhere.

I’m finished…

It turned out tentacles could sprout not just from Tia’s hands and back, but from anywhere on her body.

Chloe, you’re the one making the mistake right now by not telling Tia about your food situation and instead feeding yourself more impurities like this.
