Sundays offered students a rare respite, a precious slice of leisurely time.
Having meticulously tidied her new abode, Bai Xia settled onto the plush bed, her gaze sweeping across the room with a deep sense of satisfaction. This ‘new home,’ which had taken her considerable effort to arrange, now radiated a comforting warmth.
While this spacious room lacked the ‘cozy ease’ of her former cramped rental, the mere fact of sharing it with her deskmate filled her with an inexplicable sense of security. Moreover, despite its size, the room’s minimalist yet refined aesthetic truly resonated with her taste.
‘What did it matter?’ she mused. Her deskmate was, after all, a young master from the Imperial Capital. What possible danger could lurk here?
A faint smile touched the girl’s lips at the thought. She relaxed completely, falling backward and sprawling across the soft bed, her long, snow-white hair fanning out around her like a silken cloud. It added a touch of disheveled beauty to Bai Xia’s appearance.
However, while her living situation had stabilized with her deskmate’s help, this did not mean Bai Xia was entirely free from worries.
After her initial joy of cohabiting with Mo Bai subsided, Bai Xia’s brow furrowed slightly. She rolled over, her snowy hair cascading over her shoulder, as her ruby-like eyes gazed out at the sun, now climbing high in the sky.
She wasn’t short on troublesome matters; on the contrary, quite a few things bothered her. For instance, Mo Bai had just demanded that she appear before everyone as a girl, even during school breaks, assuming the identity of his little maid.
Serving as Mo Bai’s maid at his home was already mortifying enough. Now, he expected her to maintain this facade at school too. What if her true identity was exposed?
Bai Xia abruptly flipped over, burying her now flushed face deep into the pillow. Her snow-white hair became a tangled mess as she wriggled in embarrassment and frustration.
Yet, this wasn’t even the worst part. The most terrible truth was that she would be forced to use her power to transform once she went to school tomorrow.
The problem was that her energy had been severely depleted during the attack in the interrogation room. While she still had a small reserve, it wasn’t much. If any unexpected incident occurred at school, that meager energy storage would be utterly insufficient.
Aside from maintaining her transformation, she had virtually no energy left.
But now, only Mo Bai’s blood could replenish her energy. How could she possibly bring herself to ask her deskmate for it?
She couldn’t possibly explain to him that a Blood Princess would acknowledge her master after drinking their blood. Given how Mo Bai teased her daily, if he ever discovered she already recognized him as her master…
“Ugh… no, no, absolutely not!”
Bai Xia couldn’t bear to think any further. Various embarrassing scenarios flashed through her mind, making her curl up on her side like a cooked shrimp. She clutched the pillow, pressing it tightly against her burning cheeks, her slender legs kicking unconsciously in the air from overwhelming shame.
What was she to do? Mo Bai had her completely cornered, yet she desperately needed his blood to restore her energy.
****
After much deliberation, it seemed her only option was to act adorably.
If she behaved sweetly and concocted some random excuse, she might just manage to muddle through. As long as Mo Bai didn’t realize she absolutely needed his blood, there shouldn’t be any major issues.
Left with no other recourse, Bai Xia could only hope Mo Bai wouldn’t discover her deception. After all, being embarrassed in front of her deskmate was certainly different from being embarrassed in public.
Thus, as evening approached, Bai Xia suddenly became exceptionally obedient. Not only did she personally cook lunch for Mo Bai, but she also proactively cleaned up the dishes afterward. Her petite figure, bustling in the kitchen with a small apron tied around her waist, resembled a diligent kitten trying to please its master.
“Brother Mo, here’s your tea.”
Bai Xia carefully carried the teacup to the living room and offered it to Mo Bai. Her snow-white hair cascaded over her shoulders, making her small frame appear even more delicate. She kept her head slightly bowed, but her ruby eyes subtly flickered upward, observing Mo Bai’s reaction, fearful her little scheme would be seen through.
This tactic proved quite effective on Mo Bai. Having a personal, versatile little maid to attend to him meant he no longer needed to call the housekeeper for cooking and cleaning. He felt instantly much more at ease.
More importantly, a housekeeper couldn’t be casually teased like his little maid. And honestly, he wouldn’t even consider it; a woman in her thirties or forties simply held no appeal.
“You’ve been busy all afternoon. Come, take a rest.”
Taking the tea Bai Xia had prepared, Mo Bai patted the sofa beside him, a hint of playful mischief in his eyes. After all, for his little maid to be so diligent on her first day, he, as her ‘boss,’ naturally had to offer some reward.
Bai Xia’s ear tips instantly flushed crimson. Her slender fingers unconsciously twisted the edge of her apron, and after a moment of nervous hesitation, she slowly sat down beside Mo Bai.
“Brother Mo…”
“How is it? Much more relaxed than your days in the urban village, right?”
Mo Bai turned his head, a teasing note in his voice as he looked at the very reserved Bai Xia. Bai Xia, with her head slightly bowed, seemed hesitant to meet his gaze. Her fair, delicate hands subtly clutched at the hem of her skirt on her thighs, clearly betraying the girl’s current nervousness.
These small gestures, of course, did not escape Mo Bai’s notice, making him find Bai Xia even more endearing with each passing moment.
“It’s… it’s quite relaxed, and I really like it…”
Bai Xia answered cautiously, her voice so soft it almost dissolved into the air. She secretly lifted her eyes, only to meet Mo Bai’s smiling gaze, and quickly lowered her head again, gripping her skirt hem even tighter.
‘Honestly… why am I so nervous?’ she thought.
Mo Bai chuckled softly, then suddenly reached out and ruffled Bai Xia’s soft hair. His fingertips brushed against her sensitive little ear, hidden beneath her white tresses. “Why so nervous? You make me sound like a villain.”
Bai Xia’s sensitive ear, touched by Mo Bai, instantly made her body tremble, and her cheeks flushed even deeper.
“It’s… it’s because you always bully me, Brother Mo…” the girl accused, a touch of grievance in her tone.
Given Mo Bai’s status as her master, a Blood Princess had virtually no resistance to her master’s teasing and intimacy. This constant back-and-forth left Bai Xia not only overwhelmed with shame but also physically uncomfortable.
In her current state, she was probably marked with embarrassing signs even beneath her panties.
“Isn’t it because my little maid is just too adorable?” Mo Bai chuckled. “Is there anything you want to eat tonight? A reward for my cute little maid?”
“Who… who wants a reward from you, Brother Mo? I’m just… doing my job.”
Bai Xia pouted, feigning indifference, though her shy, charming demeanor offered no convincing evidence. Mo Bai simply let the little one indulge in her own thoughts.
As for dinner… well, since they were going to school tomorrow, treating his little maid to a good meal wasn’t a bad idea.
“Rest for a bit. I’ll take you out for something delicious tonight.”
“Oh…”
