“Are we inside a Bizarre Realm now?”
Bai Wanwan gazed at Liu Hanzhi, who stood frozen beside her. Seeing her companion’s foolish, almost fearful expression, Bai Wanwan couldn’t help but frown.
“Hey! Are you scared?”
“Aren’t you a ghost yourself? We’re both specters; would a vengeful spirit from the West City Cemetery truly be afraid of one from White City Central Hospital?”
Bai Wanwan poked Liu Hanzhi’s slender waist, her voice a hushed interrogation.
“D-don’t talk nonsense! Who said I was scared? I’m just a little surprised, seeing a Bizarre Realm for the first time.”
Liu Hanzhi’s words came out in a stammer, and she nearly bit her tongue just now.
Observing her disheveled yet endearing appearance, Bai Wanwan found the Bizarre Realm suddenly less terrifying.
“Besides, what kind of vengeful spirit am I? The true vengeful spirit here is the master of this Bizarre Realm, alright!”
Liu Hanzhi pursed her lips. Though this was her first time entering a Bizarre Realm, she was acutely aware of its formidable power.
Once inside, be it human or ghost, even an immortal would have to abide by the rules of the Bizarre Realm’s master.
Whether one could emerge alive from such a place depended entirely on the master’s mood.
If the master was in a good mood, they might set a few trials. Those who escaped with their sanity shattered, a limb lost, or a little blood spilled, might just make it out alive.
However, if the Bizarre Realm’s master was a bloodthirsty demon, then escape was virtually impossible—a death sentence with no solution.
“How do we get out?”
Bai Wanwan glanced at the people who had shared the elevator with her, their eyes still vacant.
Bai Wanwan tried to clear a path. Suddenly, those puppet-like figures stirred, beginning to walk step by step toward the room marked “Dissection Room.”
These people were, without a doubt, alive. Though their faces and fates suggested their lives would be cut short by a severe illness.
But clearly, it wasn’t their time yet.
For instance, there was a young girl, seemingly no older than ten.
At ten, she hadn’t even passed her ‘novice protection period.’ Even if a calamity was fated for her, it would only be in adulthood.
Now that they were in the Bizarre Realm, Bai Wanwan wasn’t afraid, even though she didn’t know what its master intended to do with them.
The puppet-like individuals, despite entering the Bizarre Realm, were fated for a death related to health, likely dying from illness years later. Their destined time of death wasn’t today.
By the laws of cause and effect, these people would certainly not die today, nor would they perish within this Bizarre Realm.
This was precisely why Bai Wanwan had remained unafraid, even as the elevator descended to the eighteenth sub-level.
Since the people sharing the elevator with her weren’t destined to die today, she saw no reason to worry.
“W-Wanwan…”
Just as Bai Wanwan was reassuring herself, she suddenly heard Liu Hanzhi’s voice, now trembling even more profoundly.
“What’s wrong? Still claiming you’re not scared? Your voice is practically quavering.”
“No… look at your face!”
Liu Hanzhi nervously pulled out Bai Wanwan’s phone, switched on the front-facing camera, and then handed it over.
Bai Wanwan was puzzled. She knew she was beautiful, but this was hardly the time to admire her own looks.
“A d-death omen?”
Bai Wanwan stared at her reflection on the phone screen. Appearing on her exquisite face was, without a doubt, a death omen!
It hadn’t been there long; it had only appeared moments ago, likely when the elevator doors opened and they officially stepped into this Bizarre Realm.
Otherwise, Liu Hanzhi, who could also read faces, would have warned her in the elevator.
But… why had a death omen suddenly appeared on her face? Was it connected to this Bizarre Realm?
Did this mean… she was destined to die in this Bizarre Realm today?
